FM's old road crew interviewed, including Curry Grant and Ray Lindsey

Interesting to hear about the madness from their perspective and some funny anecdotes too:

This is really cool, thanks for sharing!

The story of how Ray came to play onstage is great. I can imagine how funny it must've been when he just walked out the first time during GYOW.

sodascouts 07-09-2018 05:09 PM

So interesting! Curry Grant was a looker "back in the day" - I can see why he caught Christine's eye.

I had no idea Lindsey tried to teach Stevie to do the second guitar part in GYOW before turning to Ray Lindsey! lol!

Steviegirl 07-09-2018 06:54 PM

Wow! That was awesome! Thank you!

justcrazylove 07-09-2018 07:29 PM

This has been, by far, the most interesting thing posted on this board in months. This made me happy. Thanks :blob1:

Aussie W/Heart 07-09-2018 07:48 PM

Awesome! pretty cool seeing the printed Sydney especially Melbourne's Calder park itinerary in 77. I often wondered if they stayed at the Hilton.. It was the best day ever!! Santana was playing at the time as we were making our way to the front of the stage, squeezing inch by inch through thousands of people. My friend and i holding hands just in case we lost each other we were only 14 or 15 yrs old.. I remember looking up seeing a helicopter flying low overhead over the huge crowd. We were sooo excited knowing FM had arrived :blob1: Thanks for the memories & sharing..

This is so true. Just so interesting, and unlike anything I've seen before, both on the Ledge...or anywhere else.

Thank you, so awesome.

Agreed. That was awseome.

Lola 07-10-2018 12:02 AM

Very cool. Thanks for sharing this. Too bad it was only 15 minutes, I'd love to hear more from them.

Tango 07-10-2018 06:14 AM

Thank you Sanne for putting this up! Great stuff as always from you!

sleepless child 07-10-2018 07:47 AM

I could listen to them all day. The stories they could tell. I wish one of them would write a book.

HomerMcvie 07-10-2018 11:14 AM

That was FANTASTIC!!! I love every minute of it!

FuzzyPlum 07-10-2018 01:58 PM

That was great- shame it wasn't longer. There must be much more of this that was cut. I'd like to have been party to the full event.

David 07-10-2018 02:28 PM

Fun, fun viewing, especially all the video clips from concerts in 1977 (an Australian Go Your Own Way) and 1980 (the Bowl). What sort of event was this, and when was it held?

A couple of guys are missing—Tony Todaro and Jeff Sova. I hope they're not dead. :(

I was wondering- is this a one off as part of a series or are they doing some sort of tour?

sodascouts 07-10-2018 03:13 PM

Looks like they're doing it more than once:

https://culturela.org/event/knights-of-rock/

Can't find any info about a tour, though. I suppose if someone is really curious, you can email the guy.

Yeah, and I loved the lighting T-shirt that one guy was wearing!!;)

Yes... And we all certainly need something new, lighthearted and comical that's FM related to watch these days...

Macfan4life 07-11-2018 05:20 AM

I really enjoyed this but no one talked about the elephant in the room. HELLO!!!! Curry Grant had an affair with a member of the band. THAT would be the juiciest story of anything they told. Then he gets fired for it and then the band hires him back.
Not many roadies or stage crew get to shack up with the band. DO TELL.
I would love to know his feelings on You Make Loving Fun. I cant imagine a song like that written for me ;)

That’s true about YMLF. But imagine the flip side of how great it would feel
To have such a good song written for you and imagine how sh**ty Jane Goodall must feel

And for years it was widely believed he was intimate with Stevie—once Christine met Dennis. Not sure if these rumors were ever debunked outright but there are A LOT of pics of Grant cozying up with Nicks in 1978.

I wondered if that was going to come up, too. Guess he didn't want to kiss and tell!

I know but how do you not mention THE most exciting story of all. All other stories are boring compared to this. I would at least like to know what he feels about YMLF

SteveMacD 07-11-2018 05:38 PM

I loved this! Fun hearing about the evolution of the band from the perspective of putting on shows.

Type his name and Fleetwood Mac. Then do an image search. Four came up right away...

Whoa wait, where is the 1980 Bowl clip??

Awesome, awesome video! Thank you for posting!

Someone asked Richard about those rumors on his old blog and he declined to comment which was pretty telling. CAH also suggested it in her book. And Stevie banged everyone basically so I don't have a hard time believing it.

DownOnRodeo 07-12-2018 12:11 AM

Maybe Everybody Finds Out is about her time with Curry Grant.

Does anyone know if Ray Lindsey still goes on tour with Lindsey? It seems I've seen him on some of his solo tours, can't recall which.

I wonder what they are all doing now? Still in the business or moved on?

sleepless child 07-14-2018 06:41 PM

I was wondering too why Ray was no longer with Lindsey and also why is Curry Grant no longer with the group. Age may be a factor too. Most people around 70 think about retirement.

SteveMacD 07-14-2018 09:45 PM

At the last SYW show in Detroit, Stevie dedicated Landslide to Ray, saying that he drove her to the initial meeting with Fleetwood Mac and that it was his last show with them.

I thought Curry was fired after Rumours for sleeping with Christine (and Stevie)?

Regarding Ray Lindsey, wasn’t there some sort of drama behind his exit, too? Either regarding compensation or the whole Say You Will album meltdown.

He was with Lindsey on his solo tour after SYW.

Curry was on some of Stevie's solo tours wasn't he?
And I don't think there was drama regarding Ray leaving. As far as I know he just didn't want to tour anymore, although he did stick around to help Lindsey out on his solo tour after that. And he gave some quotes for the Life FM magazine.

Curry was fired for sleeping with Chris but at some point he is hired back. If you check the Mirage tour credits he is credited as the lighting director.

Frankenstein 07-15-2018 09:32 PM

Stevie and Curry Grant definitely had a thing. There was an interview a few years ago in which she said something like “Fleetwood Mac’s lighting director complained about my stage outfits being see-through, I told him I’m not his girlfriend while I’m up there.”
