"Don't Stop" doing your homework.

I saw a commercial today that had a truly horrendous cover of "Don't Stop" sung by a group of kids - if you don't like the kiddie vocals on "Say You Will"...

The spot was advertising a new website: http://www.cosmeo.com

I can't get the page to load, but the title says "Homework Help from The Discovery Channel." Apparently, it's prime homework-doing (er.. cheating) time for the kiddies.

:distress: or

I can't decide.

Well, Chris did sell her publishing, right?:o

I saw that yesterday myself.

The first thing I thought of was...Don't Stop really became somewhat of a song of torture during President Clinton's campaign and this will kill it for sure.

Oy.

At least they used a song like Don't Stop - which is okay when you're in the right mood, but over-played, and everyone's a little sick of it - as apposed to something good like Gypsy or Sara (Yes I know "something good" is open to interpretation).

"You see your geometry"

OR

"When you finish your math, please call me home"

I dunno...

I love Don't Stop, and never have tired of it.

Clinton, and kids, are another story!:D

Cool. Sorry, shouldn't have made such a blanket statement that EVERYONE is sick of. However, I'd still argue it's overplayed and a lot of people are sick of it at least.

Me too, but only when Chris plays on it. At least she made a few bucks off this version, not that she really needs it.;) :D

I heard that she sold her publishing rights to a Japanese company about the time she first announced that she wouldn't tour again - so around the early nineties.

I don't know if it's true or not.

This reminds me of the song my friends and I sang last summer when we did our Junior Cert exams -- "You can get your own A..."

:o Anything to keep us going.

My best friend and I make up Mac parodies all the time - it's great fun, especially after a couple (or 12) ritas.

This commercial used the real lyrics, though - just sung by an off-key chorus of kids. (Sorry - wasn't sure if that was clear or not). Which is funny, considering all the interviews the Mac did when Clinton used it saying how weird that was, since Chris actually wrote the song about/around her and John's divorce. And now it's being used to pimp a homework help website. I know the lyrics are pretty universal, but that's a pretty wide interpretation.

Just saw this commercial..and I can say it's best described as painfully awful.

Love this song and never tire of it.... especially as long as Christine is performing it. The version on The Dance is especially cool (IMHO) with the added marching band drums.
I can't imagine Christine selling any rights to her stuff especially the Rumours-era. Talk about a goldmine.

As if I needed one more reason to dread Clinton, that connection is still painful. On top of that, four years later he uses a Kathy Mattea song (another one of my fave performers). But I digress.....

So i suppose we can only imagine the goldmine she already had  -- obviously enough to make her figure 'what the heck, i'll sell it, i've got enough $.' :)
