RS: The 2004 Rock Rich List/FM #12
12. Fleetwood Mac
$32.5 million Fleetwood Mac drew a reported $750,000 a night guarantee for their 2003 tour. But after weak ticket sales in some markets, the band reportedly gave promoter Artist Entertainment Group twenty more dates than it had planned to do, to help the company make up any lost profits. Fleetwood Mac ended up playing to more than 800,000 people and grossing $69 million in the U.S. alone. http://www.rollingstone.com/features...n.asp?pid=2804 What markets did they have weak sales? Not bad $$ for one year. |
Well Memphis was cancelled b/c of ticket sales...
The rest I dunno...it's good they still came out on top anyway, even though they had to help the promoters a bit...and they have more coming their way this year....I'd rather them be up there on the list than anyone else Chris |

Thats what they SAID ...weather...which was stupid, for them to think we are that dumb...everyone around there said the arena was perfectly fine...and the Dixie Chicks show went on there...so we all knew that was a lie...then we finally HEARD that it was bc of poor ticket sales

A Ha!!! I was like WTF
|
but the Memphis show wasnt a part of the "original 40" dates anyway...it was later added..
there were a couple of shows in the first leg that had "slow" ticket sales... the Gund Arena in Cleveland, OH for one....the Pepsi Arena in Albany, NY |
I was at the buffalo show early on (5th show into the tour) I would love to see the numbers on that show, the place was packed..not quite sold out but packed. I saw the eagles there two months later and the mac deffinitely sold better. There were major holes in the lower level seating (we moved down from the nosebleeds) and entire sections of the nosebleeds were empty. The eagles did a great show though.

It's surprising how a 20,000-seat arena can appear "packed," when there are only 12-13,000 people in it. Hence, the "sell down" tactics by Ticketbastard and full of sh*t promoters like Clear Channel.
Sorry, I'm still bitter about the FCC thing... |
May 15 HSBC Arena Buffalo, NY
12,393 total tickets of 13,348 tickets available 92% of capacity You also have to take into effect that Fleetwood Mac doesnt use the seats BEHIND the stage...and often a 20,000 seat arena, will only seat 14000 for Mac shows Chris |
EEK - I am sure that 8% cut into the profit. Most profit margins are not more than 10%
|
well the bands money is a guarantee...so its the promoter who lost whatever money was lost
