Christine McVie Anthology

I think it would be amazing if a Christine McVie Anthology was released with a handful of some unreleased gems. Every time a pre 1975 track of hers come on my play list I think how great her pre Buckingham songs are and how good they would sound back to back. It would be hard to pick which songs from her solo albums to include but I may have to create this starting with Id Rather Go Blind.

I'd settle for a remastered version of her 1984 album plus a DVD featuring the live concert and the documentary that was made during the album. Maybe one day...

That documentary (shot in Switzerland, I believe) and Mick's documentary from Ghana are both vague memories. Terrible that they're not even on YouTube.

YES to this! Her concert video was odd in the sense that it seemed to focus just as much on her band as it did Christine, and she seemed to be in shadows due to the poor lighting. But it was a great concert and she sounded incredible.

I don't know if any Christine McVie Anthology could really have FM material on it, but it's fun to imagine. If it did have FM material, it would be neat if they included all her pre-Rumours FM songs, as those are the ones most people haven't heard or been exposed to. And of course, songs from Chicken Shack.

I’m sure this would never happen but I thought about it after a couple of her
pre 75 songs came on my play list the other day. Her version of Cant Help Falling in Love should also be included in this Anthology.

I've re-watched the 1984 Christine McVie album documentary on Youtube. Unless, they pulled it.

And Coventry Carol.

Christine McVie's video album was my first Ebay purchase in 2000
VHS
:)

Speaking of Ebay around the year 2000. One of my biggest life regrets was not purchasing Christine's autograph on a cocktail napkin. It was so freakin cool. No one was searching for Chrstine McVie in 2000 (but me). This guy was selling his Christine McVie autograph for $20 or something like that. The autograph was so authentic that you could tell it was her. The story was in 1990 he was at a bar/restaurant when they were on tour. He approached her and asked her for the autograph. She grabbed a cocktail napkin and signed really big. I was going to keep it in my wallet for good luck. But I never bought it :( Shame on me.
I cant think of anything cooler than Christine F**king McVie's big autograph on a cocktail napkin. My loss and one of my life's biggest regrets :(

For $20 you should have snapped that up. Even allowing for inflation that's a great price. I'd have put it in a big frame and put it on my wall.

The documentary was released on Laserdisc wasn't it? I'm surprised nobody has did a transfer of it to DVD, at least I've never seen it. The copy I have is from VHS.

Yes good memory. In 1984 I remember being in a video store and seeing it on laserdisc. They also had the Mirage concert on laserdisc. I was so jealous of any family that had them. We did not even get a VCR until 1985. I saw Chris live in 1984 but never saw her video album until 2000

I love how dark it is. I love her voice on it.

I'd love to have copies of her three solo albums all packaged into one box set with phots, notes, various outtakes, alternate takes, etc.

It'll never happen.

You saw what happened when the arenas sold out and $he was making that Christine speech in 2014-2015 (and making it about her bringing her back).

$he got jealous, refused to record, went on her demo$ tour and eventually got people fired!!

Christine is scared.

I would love for her version of "I Can't Help Falling In Love" from the "It's a Fine Mess" Soundtrack to be on her Anthology!

Macfan4life 09-21-2018 03:40 AM

I vote for Too Much Is Not Enough
I did not have MTV in 1984 but I heard Chris say they performed the song on MTV to promote her album. Boy I wish we could get that MTV footage and also her Entertainment Tonight segment when she was touring in early 1984.

A Christine McVie anthology would need to include at least one or two of her songs with Chicken Shack. She played an incredible blues piano, and it was the lead instrument on her songs. I didn't like Chicken Shack as a band -- the lead singer was a shrieker as both a vocalist AND a guitarist -- but the handful of songs Christine did with them are mighty fine.

I sometimes wonder what would have happened if, instead of quickly veering off into the pop world, Chris had stuck with the blues. As she developed both her songwriting and keyboard skills, if her popularity continued along the arc that her solo album set her upon, she could have become the Bonnie Raitt of the blues piano.

The instrumental version is on the documentary which was interesting that they featured it even though it wasn't on the album.

Yes she was obviously very proud of the song even though it was not on the album. I believe she did every song on the album except Whos Dreaming This Dream. She instead threw in this song.

The show I saw in 1984. She did Too Much Is Not Enough. I have a bootleg of it somewhere.
