I used to talk to him on Facebook.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Bob Welch, a former member of the band Fleetwood Mac, was found dead at his Nashville home Thursday.

Metro police spokesperson Don Aaron said Welch's wife found him dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest at his home on Blue Hole Road in Antioch around 12:15 p.m.

He was 66 years old.

Aaron said Welch recently had health issues but did not elaborate. He said a suicide note was left.

Welch was a guitarist and vocalist for Fleetwood Mac from 1971 to 1974 before the group achieved supergroup status with the albums Fleetwood Mac in 1975 and Rumours in 1977.

He was not among the members inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998

Welch had a briefly successful solo career in the late 1970s.

He formed the British rock group Paris in 1976, and had hits including "Sentimental Lady" in 1977 and "Ebony Eyes" in 1978.

Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham did backing vocals on "Sentimental Lady."

Me too. I'm sitting here at work, trying not to cry.

I know Wendy had been in poor health for some time. I wonder if something had happened to her....?

This is just beyond terrible. :distress: The Fleetwood Mac family has just gotten smaller... again. This is not a good day.
