swallowing spiders while we sleep??

You eat eight spiders every year in your sleep. True?

Nope, says MythBusters. There's no evidence that spiders secretly crawl into our mouths while we're sleeping. Even if you were lying perfectly still, your breathing would scare a spider off, so it's unlikely to hang out around your mouth. Alas, the bad news: You probably consume more spiders when you are awake -- in your food. Here's why: The Food and Drug Administration guidelines allow a certain level of whole insects or parts in some food products, such as those containing fruits or vegetables. Yum.

eewwww

When I was about 12 or 13, one night I felt this stinging sensation then a pinch on my forearm that woke me out of a sound sleep...I freaked out, whipped out of bed, flipped the lights on and peeled the covers back only to find a gross brown spider in my bed!!!!!:eek:
I killed it with a flip flop, ripped the sheets off and threw them out secretly the next day (my mom yelled at me for that :p). Those were my favorite sheets! Needless to say, I couldn't sleep for about a week thinking there were spiders in my bed.

Well, DUH. Spiders crawling in your mouth while you're asleep. That's just silly! Everyone knows they crawl in your ear! It's the perfect spot for them to nest and lay their eggs.

There are bugs that do that!!!! GROSS!

I saw a thing on National Geographic Channel where these tourists were kidnapped and held prisoner for years in South America (Colombia I believe) and they said they slept with rags in their ears to prevent these little roaches from laying eggs in them.
