Imagine two hours with each member of the Rumours band

For some reason or another, you got a chance to spend time with each member of the Rumours 5 for two hours each (regardless of when and how, but not a sort of controlled meet & greet thing). What would you do, and what will you talk about? No constraints to time and place.

John - I know John is a technology-savvy guy so I would probably talk about that, and maybe we would just spend time in a little corner somewhere and tell stories. I would also ask him where I could have a decent life-sized cardboard cut out of myself made. It's always the quiet ones, you know.

Stevie - We're both night owls I would tell her she reminds me a lot of Pinkie Pie of My Little Pony as we have 2am dance parties together. She strikes me as a little kid at heart so lots of cartoons would be involved. Maybe I could charm her into giving me a little sample of La Mer and maybe teach her the internets.

Christine - We would probably talk about food, drinks, and television shows (we're both ER fans, so I'll ask her about her favorite characters, couples, episodes, and whether or not she cries every time that certain version of Over the Rainbow is being played) over either Italian food (preferably her cooking), or some tea and chocolate hobnobs.

Lindsey - Honestly, I have no idea. He seems to have never lost his workaholic ways, but I think bonding over coffee would be a nice thing. If he allows me to (doubt it though) I could take a peek of his studio or something.

Mick - Ditto with Mick. Not sure if we share hobbies/interests in common.

I think he'd like that

As for me...

John - I'd talk penguins with John :) I loved them way before I loved FM, and we'd have that in common.

Christine - We'd gossip about the entire band for two hours...preferably over a bottle (or two) of wine. :D

Lindsey - Two hours with Lindsey??!!!:cool::blob1: Um. If anything goes, there wouldn't be much talk. ;)

Mick - I'd ask him for tips on travel and wine. I've never been to Hawaii, so insider info would be most appreciated. As with Christine, I'd probably gossip with him, too, about the whole band. He's a talker so it would be interesting!

Stevie - I honestly can't imagine what we'd talk about  I'd probably take a pass, and go directly to the store to pick up some of Mick's wine recommendations. Better still, I would look to trade my two hours with Stevie, for someone else's two hours with Lindsey :p

That's the spirit! Bartering worked in ancient times, let's bring it back! But sorry, you aren't getting my 2 hours with Lindsey!!

But seriously, it's a great question and I have to really think about. I know I would probably try to come up with one question to ask each of them. The same question. Ala James Lipton when he asks those questions at the end of Inside the Actor's Studio. I think that would be really interesting. And honestly, wouldn't you want to know their favorite curse word?

Don't make Chris fall off the wagon now!

Holidays are approaching. It sounds like a bottle of Mick's wine would make the perfect gift for you.

Lets think I got stuck 2 hours with a fm member in an elevator. We need to talk to make time go faster ;)

John -Ill start talking about boats, then when ice is broken, about the early years

Chris - about her life in England

Lindsey - about the last tours

Mick - several episodes of his book, I'll ask him about some doubts I have about specific moments

Stevie - will she be open to questions? I don't know. Probably I'd ask about her songs meaning. No personal questions

I think the temptation to fall off the wagon is higher than ever for Chris now. I imagine her thinking "I wish I could have a drink right now" during rehearsal.

Ooh Mick's wine...

Could I give up my two hours with Stevie and Lindsey and add them to a combined five hours with Mick, John, and Christine? I'd be much, much happier.

I suppose it would be a pleasure to spend two hours
with each of them. I'm afraid I'd run out of things to
say with John, Mick and Christine.

If it were the early eighties I'd spend all the allotted
time with Stevie and beg for more. But now that she
resembles more of an "Aunt" figure to me than a sex
symbol, two hours might be enough.

Lindsey would be cool, especially if we had our guitars.
I'd like to spend some time with him in his recording
studio. And right at the end of my two hours I'd request
him not to use those "whisper" effects on any of his songs
anymore.

I'd trade my time with John, Christine and Mick for time
with Jack White, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton.

Can I have your Mick, John and Christine time? I'll give you my Stevie and Lindsey time

I listened to a podcast talking about ASMR, Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, which is how our brain responds to whispering and it tickled me because it reminded me of Lindsey. Yes, it can be a stimulant (as it was on the 1982 dvd), but forward more than 20 years later, when it's whisper croaking that reminds me of Peter Jennings last news broadcasts with lung cancer ... not so good.

Yeah, the whispering is old news. Don't like it either.

goldustsongbird 09-23-2013 05:15 PM

These are two hours in 2013, not 1977? That's actually a better idea, because two hours in '77 would fly right up our noses.

John: I'd ask him about penguins. Take up the time right there. I'd pry for band stories beyond the "why don't you leave the room?" one.

Stevie: I'd ask to see her closets and get her to read to me from her diaries. I want the ones from the Rumours and Tusk tours, and to know what went into the books she gave everyone on the Timespace tour. That had to have been a hot mess.

After that, I'd try her boots on.

Chris: We'd ride our bikes. Tea and Hobnobs later.

Mick: I'd go from Stevie's, still wearing her boots. No way in hell am I standing next to him without them. I would talk to him about absolutely anything. He seems like a good guy to shoot the **** with.

Lindsey: These two hours might tick by slowly. I'm a little scared. We'd talk music and play pool.

applebucked 09-23-2013 07:25 PM

If it were 1977 we would probably be so coked up, we wouldn't know what was happening.

I would try Stevie's boots on too, but my feet are huge (US size 10) so... I might have better luck with Chris' shoes.
