In My World - 1st Buckingham/McVie single

On Friday we will all have our first taste of Buckingham McVie with the availability of "In My World" on iTunes.

According to various resources, this one is penned by Lindsey Buckingham.

That surprises me for a few reasons:

1. It's been longer since the world has heard new Christine
2. Christine is generally identified as the band's hitmaker
3. It's a "duets" album so I kinda thought a co-write would be first

So I'm intrigued to find out just how much presence Christine has on this track: vocally, on the keyboard.

Also, I'm intrigued to find out how it SOUNDS -- Because of the nature of the recording I don't know how much time Lindsey has had to tinker. Will this be a more polished sound than the new tracks on SWS and GoS?

How will the buying audience respond to this track?

Will it be something I hear in drug stores the way I still hear "Peacekeeper"?

WILL IT BE ABOUT STEVIE??!

The suspense is killing me.

I'm not at all surprised they went with LB's song. Judging from the info inside the sleeve, this (like almost every other FM release since 1979) is a solo album that got tweaked along the way. Hopefully it's more of a rocker than "Peacekeeper" was, but it'll probably be a similar, mid-tempo jam with prominent backing vocals from Christine.

And it better be polished as hell; he's had more than enough time to tinker. ;)

I'll bet they enjoy this small tour more than any they've ever done. I hope so, anyway.

The clutch of Lindsey songs stretches back quite a few years now so he's had plenty of time to tinker with them and get them just right. Though its deemed to be duets album, its clearly more of a Lindsey effort so I don't blame him for wanting to release one of his songs. Anyway, he might just have a great song with In My World that he thinks will go down particularly well as a single. Perhaps we'll get a Christine song a bit further down the line.

What I'm keen to know is what the promotion will be like for this single... are they going to be making any TV appearances???

Maybe..... "In My World" is the first single cuz they first song they did together was "World Turning"? Ya know how he likes cyclical moments and events....

Better not be that Fritz song of same name :(

It just happened organically.

I'm assuming Christine has a VERY bit presence on this song A la Hold Me, Think about me, Don't stop. Just because he wrote it doesn't mean it isn't a duet.

nope, exactly the opposite. from everything we know about these songs since 2012, it's a Fleetwood Mac album that got tweaked into BuckMcVie. those songs were all composed specifically for Fleetwood Mac.

She wrote those songs.

So you mean she will have a similar amount of presence on this song as he had on hers?

Interesting... possible!

i'm not sure what their relationship with the label is, but with LB's solo albums on WB he was very clear that he didn't understand why label picked certain songs as singles and that he had nothing to do with that... so who knows who picked this.

Just to add- historically speaking, its not really a surprise...
Go Your Own Way, Tusk, Big Love and Peacekeeper were all the lead-out singles.
Obviously Chris was always going to have the first single for the white album and LB just didn't have the material on Mirage.
