Um, they put in the lyrics for "Songbird" for "Lay Down for Free." If it's edited, I have the screencaps of it.

I agree with some of the list. Personally, I would replace "Red Sun" with "In My World."

5 best Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie lyrics
CBS This Morning/YouTube

Fleetwood Mac members Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie decided to release a joint album after a Fleetwood Mac reunion album failed to happen. According to Ultimate Classic Rock, they wrote songs together and separately for the reunion album, but when member Stevie Nicks decided not to do it, they had songs without an official project to place them on.

So Buckingham and McVie pulled together all of the material they’ve been working on, wrote some new stuff and delivered their self-titled studio album that’s filled with some memorable and sometimes visual lyrics. Here are the five best.

5. “Lay Down for Free”

Nobody wants to invest time and energy into a relationship if the other person isn’t emotionally available. That’s what Buckingham convey’s on this cut, that includes a warm, lush bass sound that moves smoothly around the relatable lyrics.

Best lyrics:
"To you, I’ll give the world
To you, I’ll never be cold
‘Cause I feel that when I’m with you
It’s alright, I know it’s right
And the songbirds are singing, like they know the score
And I love, I love you, I love you, like never before"

4. “On With the Show”

Fleetwood Mac’s trials, fights and breakups have been well-documented through the years, but in this particular song, Buckingham doesn’t touch on any of that. Instead, he submits himself to the idea that nothing is better than playing and being with the band. It’s something that Fleetwood Mac fans are probably pleased to hear, considering all the group has been through.

Best lyrics
"Waiting too long
But there's no right or wrong
Only where I belong
Where I belong
There'll come a day
When we all feel the same
And we live for the game
Live for the game"

3. “Love is here to Stay”

A rolling acoustic guitar riff serves as the musical backdrop for McVie and Buckingham’s lyrics about love outlasting all things. The lyrics also seem to capture the last moments of one’s life, as that person thinks about how they shared love throughout their lifetime.

Best lyrics
"When stars come out at night
When the moon is full enough
I will lay this soul to rest
Brook of flowers, hearts of stone
Even though I played too rough
I will do what I do best"

2. “Red Sun”

There have been countless songs written about losing love, but on this one McVie and Buckingham describe a specific time of day when the pain of losing that loved one stings the most. The lyrics also capture a sadness and beauty at the same time, since memories of a broken relationship are paired with lyrics about a gorgeous red sunset.

Best lyrics
"My mind is filled with journeys
Echo with your smile
No, you won't take that away from me
Even if you try
Sometimes I wonder
Do you ever think of me?
And it's worse for me at night, you know
When the red sun kisses the sea"

1. “Carnival Begin”

Considering that McVie has probably seen a lot of places and met a lot of people in her 50 years of being a musician, she talks about still having a wanderlust in the album’s very last song.

Towards the end of the cut, McVie describes herself as “Travelling girl moving north, west, east and south, but it’s the first few lines of the song that really establish her desire to see more.

Best lyrics
"I open my eyes
The ship was out at sea
People I didn't know
Places I never did see
Too late to conceal it
Too late to hide it
Too late to reveal it
Too late to fight it
I want it all
All the colors and swings
A new merry go round
carnival begin"
