Golden Girls Curse?

Golden Girls Fans?

This may be a little morbid but something to think about!

Estelle passed away in 2008
Bea in 2009
Rue in 2010

It's 2011!! :eek::shocked:

Betty doesn't have health problems like the rest but it's interesting that she's older than the rest, too.

I sure hope not....I love Betty so much.

I think as long as Betty's health is fine which it seems to be, she could be with us for the next few years or more.

I think it's more a coincidence than a curse, considering that all of those ladies (except Rue) were well into their 80s. Betty White is nearly 90. Once you're that age, surely everyone realizes that you could go any minute, no matter how healthy you are.

What I found fascinating about Betty was when she did some of those SNL skits in the fuller blonde curly bob length wigs, she's still so pretty and does NOT look like almost 90 years old.... no one else ever notices this? She has awesome skin for her age and elasticity.

I really hope not. I've loved The Golden Girls since I was a little kid, and I kind of felt like a member of my family died when one of them passed. Hell, I have probably seen each episode well over a hundred times. That's way more than I see real family. :p

Anyway, I hope to see Betty around longer. She's hilarious in Hot in Cleveland.

I've actually said repeatedly lately that: "I do not want to live in a world without Betty White!" She'd better live to be 190! :D

mezzoforte 04-18-2011 01:22 PM

Yup, it's clearly a curse when a number of old women die! Next it will be be Betty, then He'll come for their firstborns!

I kid, I kid. Which is probably wildly inappropriate when we're talking about an unfortunate coincidence. But it's worth saying, I think, that Rue's, Estelle's and Bea's lives appear exceptionally well-lived. I don't think it has to be a tragedy when a full life comes to an end in old age.

I adore Betty White and have been so happy to see her resurgence. She's been doing awesome things for decades, it just took a while for facebook to notice. She appears to be in great shape--it's tough to handle a sitcom shooting schedule and Hot in Cleveland wouldn't have hired her if she weren't up to it. I don't think we have to worry just yet.:)

The ironic thing is that Betty is the oldest of the Golden Girls, yet she's the last one left. Dorothy was my favorite GG, so I was especially upset when Bea died. But like mezzoforte said, they've all lived very full lives and it's not really a tragedy when they go (with the possible exception of Rue). No one lives forever, and most people don't live as long as Bea, Estelle, & Betty have.

But at least their heads are all frozen so they can be reunited once again!

P.S. I love the quote in your signature. Blanche Elizabeth Deveraux is so feisty!

*LMAO*

CreepingDeath, I'm with you. I've seen every episode a zillion times and have all 7 seasons on DVD. I'd watch the repeats on Lifetime almost everyday & now it's Hallmark.

The last 2 episodes of the series were on last night on Hallmark. Every time I see it I still tear up! :(

The Blanchisms are too many to count, but my personal favorite might be from the "Grab That Dough" episode where Guy Corbin (I think that's his name...) says, "Complete this famous phrase...better late than..." and Blanche buzzes in: "Pregnant!"

"Why would Sofia want to be a Nun.....I, mean the word says it!!!":D

Oh Blanche
