Lindsey Electric Guitar Technique
Question about how Lindsey plays the electric guitar:
When Lindsey does the thing where he is "flicking" down on a string to play a note with his right hand, he mutes the string above with his right hand thumb. But does he mute the string below it using his left hand or is his right hand accurate enough to where he doesn't need to mute it? Sorry if that's confusing. |
I think (based on how I play when without a pick) that the arc his finger moves along when flicking means it misses the string so it doesn't need to be muted.

I think what he does - a lot of the time, at least - is he will mute the string above with his thumb, as you say, flick with his middle or second finger, while also muting the string below with his third finger. You can see him doing this on this compilation on songs like 'I'm So Afraid':

Many times I tried to mute like him and I failed. DAMN
And How in the world can he achieve that clear sound with his fingers. He hasn't long nails, yet his tone is bright, harsh, when its needed. I guess it's because of the Model 1, but there's more, I'm sure. |

Does Lindsey use his pinky as an achor? In many videos I saw he seems to rest his pinky on the body of the guitar, but I'm not sure.
