new Dashut blog - Truth & Consequences (My Times with FM)

http://dickdash.tumblr.com/

Richard Dashut announced that he just started a blog "Truth And Consequences - My Times With Fleetwood Mac".

this is his opening post:

Life is both precious & short.

If one is lucky enough, one crosses paths & recognizes as such, a special person in their life called a Mentor.

As luck would have it, for me, I had both a mentor & a best friend all in one.
This potent combination along with an intense passion for creativity, forged my future with Fleetwood Mac.

My mentor’s name was Lindsey Buckingham, & to him I owe damn near everything.

This blog is therefor dedicated to Lindsey Buckingham.

Thank You for enabling & sending me off on what has been an incredible journey.

Hmmmm. On the one hand its good to hear Richard is active...however, I find this all a bit weird and creepy.
...will be interesting to see where this goes.

exactly.

will it be piling on or is it an attempt to counterbalance a lot of the stuff that's been put out there in recent years about LB (ref. Carol Harris, Ken Caillat, even Mick's book)? Calling LB his "mentor" and owing him "everything" certainly seems like it would be the latter.

But it is just so unusual for anyone intimate with the band to blab about anything…. wonder how this will be received by the band or LB. Is he trying to get back in LB's good graces or something??

Curiouser and curiouser..

btw, I love his handle on tumblr: dickdash

oh and Richard, if you see this, please please pleasssse choose an easier to see font color for your page. That pale grey has no contrast to the white background :(

Macfanforever 08-08-2014 04:09 PM

Very interesting.Thanks.Hahahaha .I was thinking about the 1960's and 70's Bob Barker game show as I saw the title of this thread.

bombaysaffires 08-08-2014 04:39 PM

did anyone else notice the cute little graphic in the "Q" of consequences? one of his and LB's fave pastimes...

Richard Dashut on Tumblr

So I am actually really excited right now. Richard Dashut (famed Fleetwood Mac producer) has started a tumblr, and is answering fan questions. He is a really nice guy, it seems, and is giving genuinely honest answers. So check it out if you want. I wasn't sure which thread to put this in, but he's answering some questions about Stevie, so idk.

Yeah..To me it sounds like KISS LINDSEY'S ASS OR CONSEQUENCES.:laugh:

It's simply amazing. Last night I asked him about L&O and why he was not a part of the Go Insane recordings. Less than ten minutes later I had his answer!! It's great to read what he writes, he lived lot of things with FM and he can talks in first person about what happened there.
We'll see lot of amazing stories. Thanks Richard!!!
Regards,
Mark.

Why is everyone so cynical around here? Richard stared in one of the questions, that he and Lindsey had lost contact for 20 years, but have renewed their friendship a couple of years ago. Just maybe they are really friends, and he wants to set the record straight, without getting paid for it, unlike Carol Ann and Ken. He did say that all he wants is an investment of fans' time, not their money.

michelej1 08-09-2014 01:23 PM

I am sure the pictures from the early years (pre-FM) that he might post of Lindsey and Stevie will be lovely to see.

Even the early FM pictures, before Rumours, will be nice to view, before they became superstars.

I like the way he's handling all the questions and the pictures are just amazing. I couldn't be happier about this.

sleepless child 08-09-2014 07:26 PM

I asked him what his favorite and least favorite album to work on was. He answered me pretty quickly. His favorite to work on was Tango. He said his least favorite was Rumours. I found his answer very surprising.

It seems that his answer was based mostly on his personal experiences and relationships in the studio. He and Lindsey developed a strong bond during the recording of Tango in the Night.

I wish he could have answered more questions about the Buckingham Nicks, and their set lists. He really didn't addressed them.

Richard says that he still smokes pot

brickney723 08-11-2014 07:12 AM

He just posted this Q&A:

anonymous said:

With Stevie and Lindsey's tumultuous relationship are you surprised that they're still in the same band after all this years and they're still touring together ???

True love, deep love, respect love, overcomes both time and heartache. The story of Stevie & Lindsey is both tragic and perhaps unrequited, but also a triumph of spirit and living whole. Perhaps their new music will speak to this…..r

ps. My deepest respect to Kristen, Lindsey’s beautiful wife and to their successful, happy marriage. Their extraordinary children bear proof of that!

We Just Reached 200,000 posts on the Rumours forum (well, 200,001)

michelej1 08-15-2014 11:54 AM

That shirt that Mick's seamstress handmade for Lindsey is not his first "puffy" shirt. In fact, there's a picture of the 5 of them where Lindsey is wearing a white pirate shirt with a vest. I love that photo.

But this new picture of Lindsey does remind me of Seinfeld and makes me laugh quite a bit.

Alright which one of you asked him that :laugh:

Anonymous: What is your favorite song from Chris, Lindsey, and Stevie from the "Tusk" album?

Lindsey, “Walk A Thin Line”

Christine, “Brown Eyes”

Stevie, “Sara”

Walk A Thin Line. that's all. great taste! :]
(i will ignore his other choices from that record :p)

and yet we will never ever hear it live, at least not from FM, apparently.

I've been reading his blog, and I find it funny when I can pinpoint certain Ledgies by the questions they ask. I need a life.

well I can't tell who asked him about Stevie and Curry Grant, but I love his very diplomatic answer; very subtle. Nice, Richard!

That was me. :p :)
I also asked him if recording Mirage at Château d'Hérouville was scary (supposedly it's haunted), what are his favorite Lindsey melodies and has the band ever done any of their songs like cartoon themes (and put in silly lyrics) when they got bored. But he didn't answer those.

How long did it take to get your question answered, out of curiosity?

bombaysaffires 08-19-2014 09:20 PM

I don't know about Nickingham, but he's answered a couple of mine and he's quite quick-- same day usually, if you send something in while he's online it could be within minutes.

so did you get the answer you wanted?? (a picture speaks a thousand words) ;)

HelloMonster 08-19-2014 09:39 PM

I asked him a question and he never responded. it's been days.

Same here. I asked about his experiences during Out Of The Cradle probably 5 days ago. Nothing. :(

I sent the question around 8am EST yesterday (Tues) and checked his blog later the same day around 8pm EST, which is when he posted the answer. :)

He does seem to be answering so quite rudely worded questions, especially about the Mac cash-in tours. Maybe he likes rude?

I asked the question about "Time", if he had any particular favourites from Lindsey, Stevie or Christine's solo work and how the elimination process worked for songs that didn't make the album, but he only answered the one.

ViscountViktor 08-20-2014 05:03 AM

I asked why they left Lindsey saying f*** on the chain.

No reply.

Ater repeated listens, sadly, I really think Lindsey is saying saying "four" as in one-two-three-four.

He answered my question about Peter Green playing at the end of "Brown Eyes", saying that he didn't think he did. So the mystery deepens. Lindsey didn't think he did, Peter can't remember, but still Mick's book, Bob Brunning's (fwiw) book and Martin Celmin's official biography of Peter have the story.

I can't believe those last few notes at the end are Lindsey. It doesn't sound like his playing at all. My personal theory is that Peter and Mick were messing about in the studio one evening and the fragment got recorded. Mick himself added it to the mix or asked Ken to do it...

elle 08-20-2014 07:27 AM

interesting to read what people asked and didn't get answered. i initially thought he's choosing not to answer questions that may perhaps be perceived as more sensitive, but now it seems completely random. he might be answering when he's online and so it may just be a timing of the question.

i asked 6 questions and he answered 3 of those. some of my questions were really nice (thanking him for doing the blog etc - he responded to that one), others were potentially sensitive, and he responded to some of those but not others.

either way, every time he did respond, the response came within minutes after i asked.

I asked about Mirage and never got a response. He's probably deluged with questions and is only picking the ones he feels, like answering. Understandable.

So, it seems like when you know he is online, questions you post then have the best chance of getting picked.

i would ask some questions, but I don't want to deal with Tumblr.

I think the argument that Mick would have made sure Peter got credit is a pretty strong one though.

why is that, I'm just curious..? You don't have to create an account or sign in to ask a question. If you click the "ask me something" tab on his page it lets you ask a question as "Anonymous".
