Music Choice show: Mick's comments on LB
 

Just thought I'd share this if you haven't seen it...

I saw the tail end of that Music Choice “concert” thing that some folks have been talking about. It’s sort of a longform advertisement for the VBO collection, intermixed with videos, some familiar concert footage, a little bit of mention about the new album, and what looked to be fairly recent interview footage with Mick. I read somewhere else that John and Lindsey have brief interview clips too, but I only caught about the last 10 minutes of the show and didn’t see those.

In the part I saw, Mick was talking about what each of the different songwriters offers as the voice and face for the band with their songs. I missed what he said about Christine, tuned in just as he was finishing up saying something about Stevie making a very personal connection with the audience. Finally, he described Lindsey. He said that Lindsey brings a sense of angst and urgency to his work that is so compelling. Paraphrasing here, he said, “Lindsey grabs a topic by the you-know-whats and communicates so directly and intensely and with such urgency that it’s almost disturbing at times, but then in the next blink of an eye, there is such immense tenderness that you’re blown away. It’s the On-Off-On-Off that is so dramatic. You will never be bored by this man.”

Yeah, Lindsey is DA MAN alright. Mick's comments are surprisingly thoughtful, well-worded, and insightful, and I totally agree.
