Diana, Princess of Wales

The day she died my dad told me that Princess Diana had died, I was suprised to learn that "princessses" were real, I had never heard of a real one before. I became interested in her getting up way early to watch her funeral on tv, and recently became interested in her again. (By the way yes I know she was only a princess through marriage). My question is, to the people living in England, how is she viewed now. Is she brough up alot in England, i read an article that they aren't allowing a statue of her to be errected yet they have errected other ones. Also how do you feel about her?

Just figured i'd ask.... Thanks!

Occasionaly we do hear her name mentioned when it comes down to charity work, ie a reflection thereof, but she's not really a vibrant figure in the English Psyche anymore. There seems to be a lot more bitterness around at the moment, owing to the last few Prime Ministers and their B's with Itches being complete bottom feeders, and people just don't have the sense of nostalgia. Unless you're reading the Daily Express (severely rascist and upper middle class garbage) that blame anything from immigration to terrorism on the lack of Diana presence (If anybody reading this is British, do you remember that Mock The Week episode with Russell Howard's take on the British Newspapers lawlz? Crickeeet! Crickeeet!).

Basically, Diana's seen as somewhat of a Saint now, although many cynical people are sick to death of hearing about her.

There's also at least 3 new conspiracy theories on her death a year.

Silver Springs 10-06-2010 08:13 AM

^ Haha. What are the most recent ones? Has the Queen been held accountable in any of the new ones again? Maybe it was the Corgis that did it lol.

Something about Prince Philip, MI5, and Diana being up the duff. If I recall correctly.

Silver Springs 10-06-2010 08:20 AM

I think I heard about the pregnancy one, but Philip is a new one on me. Makes you wonder what kind of people think up these conspiracies. Having said that, I don't think any of the Diana ones hold a candle to the 9/11 and 7/7 conspiracy theories.

I think that there is a strong possibility she was murder if not the truth that she was murdered. Also I remember hearing that 9/11 was predicted by someone in England before it happened but that the CIA or FBI blew it off, plus it was pointed out that George Bush didn't look all to suprised when they told him about it happening, also he was just "Chilling" at the school he was at.

Also i've heard that Diana was possibly killed by either the Queen, or Prince Phillip and that British Secret Service ( i guess that's what htey are) was involved.

up the duff??....

Brit slang for being pregnant.

I really wonder who sits there and comes up with conspiracy theories. Some of them are interesting to read, but others... you'd have to psycho to believe them.

Just a quick left turn here...just saw on the supermarket checkout line mag rack last night that Camilla has (supposedly) publicly pulled Charles out of the closet. Not that it surprises me in the least or do I care, but just also, wondering what the Brit take on that is.

News to me. I've heard nothing about that over here

In fact I'm sure there has been nothing about that in the papers over here. Was it the national enquirer? lol.

No, but a very similar type publication.

I have noticed that despite the on-the-surface farsical extremes of some of the claims...eventually, when all's said & done, they're actually closer to the truth than you'd expect.

(I think that's why that scene in Men In Black when Tommy Lee Jones picks up a copy of each of those rag-mags to read for factual info is so funny....humor is based on truth, right?)

I saw a magazine earlier this week that said Prince Charles was gay and that he married Diana as a cover-up and that he had been hiding the secret for 30 years, that was on the cover didn't read the article.

This thread has truly dumbfounded me  The Welsh might get a bit het up over asking the English about their princess, though :p
