The way the ending is produced almost reminds me of Sara a little bit.

EBTG is absolutely one of my favorite bands. I love all their body of work and have most of their CD’s. I have been listening to them since 1996 when “Missing” was on the radio. Right now my favorite’s are “Better Things” & “Protection”. This band is not for everyone but I love them ~ their harmonies remind me of FM. Beautiful and intense writing. Lots of Dance tracks that make me groove. Thanks for posting the video ~

ebtg has been making amazing records in so many styles since the early days. anyone who is into dance music has to have respect, otherwise, they don't know their ****. so yeah.. i have love.

An underated band certainly. I was always impressed with the way they re-invented themselves by turning to dance music after they had gone as far as they could with their more traditional 80s pop sound.

Interesting that you should pick a track that Ben watt sings lead on as Tracy Thorn was the main singer. He does do it very well.

They produced a wonderful acoustic album, which I think is deleted now. It had covers of Springsteens 'Tougher Than The Rest', Costello's 'Alison' and Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' as well as a load of their own stuff. It is well worth hearing. If you don't have it, let me know and I'll post it.

This is a cover of a Simon & Garfunkel song from the Bridge Over Troubled Water album.

The one from the 80s is Denise Williams "Let's Hear it for the Boy" on the Footloose soundtrack. You know you've got to understaa-aaa-aa-aand.

I never joke, Sar. I pay so little attention these days to rock music that titles can trigger only hazy memories in my mind. Pop represents my unrecoverable past.

My favorite Simon & Garfunkel song is called "America." You familiar with that one? The video isn't very interesting, but the song is redolent of a certain subculture of the 1960s & of a certain time in our lives, when college begins to seem constraining & bourgeois & our minds are suffused with a burning wanderjahr. A feeling very much like this may have been what compelled Buckingham & Nicks to set out for Los Angeles all those years ago to seek their career fortunes.

Yes, David. That is a fantastic song. I've listened to S&G records since I was very small.. good emotional/thinking music.

I downloaded the chords from someone's tab page, & they're kind of weird chords to try to sing the song to.

I have noticed that about several Simon & Garfunkel songs. When I first download the chord or tab, it looks like it is probably right, but when I start to play it on guitar it's like "woah, wait a minute. this isn't sounding as I thought it would." Tabs of riffs have been fairly accurate - Hazy Shade of Winter, intro to Homeward Bound, portions of The Boxer come to mind, but the chords have sounded funky in relation. I really like Paul Simon, but at this point, I've pretty much decided that I am not attempting any more of his guitar parts for a while. I know several parts of several different songs, but I have yet to put an entire song together smoothly. It seems like there's always that one little curve-ball that I just can't execute. :laugh:

I'm assuming you're talking about playing the chords on piano and singing along... I've not tried that at all. On piano, I've only ever played Bridge Over Troubled Water and it sounded right, but I have the published sheet music for it.

I didn't know EBTG were still making music. They were so overplayed in SF during their rise to popularity.

S&G music still makes me happy. I will never tire of For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her and Kathy's Song.

OK. There are a couple of things here which you may like. The first is the album I mentioned called Acoustic. It wasn’t a UK release I don’t think as it is on Atlantic Records. There is some background to the release that says -

‘In October 1991 Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn began a series of live shows celebrating what has now become one of the most enduring aspects of their work together as everything but the girl - the unaccompanied performances - they became known simply as the acoustic concerts. For 90 minutes, with no band, just two voices, a guitar and piano, they mixed interpretations of other people’s songs with their own from their ten years together. The popularity of the shows led to the studio recordings of the first four tracks on this album, released in the UK as the covers ep. It was a top 15 hit. Those tracks are gathered here, along with Tom Waits’ downtown train and six originals reflecting the mood and spirit of the acoustic concerts.’

There were a number of tracks left over from the above release and three of them appeared on a limited cd release of ‘Missing’. So here they are mainly because of the Ben Watt cover of my favourite Jackson Brown song - ‘These Days’. It is better than the S&G cover that started this thread I think.
