What if Lindsey had toured with FM in 1987?
What would the set list have been like?
I wonder if Big Love would have been performed with the whole band then, instead of as a solo? Would Lindsey have played some of his other songs from Tango? And if so, which ones? For comparison, here are some of the songs actually performed by FM for that tour, in random order. Feel free to make any additions or corrections, please. Say You Love Me The Chain Dreams Go Your Own Way Brown Eyes I Loved Another Woman Gold Dust Woman Rhiannon Sara You Make Loving Fun Don't Stop Blue Letter Songbird Stand Back Has Anyone Ever Written Anything World Turning Oh Well Seven Wonders Little Lies Isn't It Midnight Everywhere Tear It Up |
I think there are older threads on this exact topic. If Lindsey had toured I don't think Has anyone ever written anything for you and Stand Back would be in the set. Sara was not done in the United States (only in Europe I believe). Tear it up was not played until the farewell tour late 1990. I also don't believe Oh Well would have been performed.
We probably would have gotten, Not that funny and I'm So Afraid and some variation of Big Love. I also believe the band would have disbanded for many years after the tour. |
Good chance you would’ve gotten Tango as well.

FM tended to only play a handful of songs from their later releases, so I really think if Lindsey had been with them and he had sang 1 or 2 of his songs from Tango, then Christine wouldn't have played isn't It Midnight. And that would have been a crime! |
I agree Caroline and Tango have a similar vibe and probably don’t need to both be played. But Tango was the title track for the album and tour.

On With The Show was partially the tour that didn't happen in 1987. i thoroughly enjoyed much rockier sound of live Little Lies, for example, vs the pop album version. something that LB has typically done with FM songs live vs album.
