Of the three (not incl. Buckingham Nicks), which is the best? What order would you rank the three?

Of Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie and Buckingham Nicks which is better?

My take:
1. Say You Will - it's absolutely epic and double length with instant classics like Thrown Down and Steal Your Heart Away
2. Buckingham McVie - brimming with theatrics (think Feel About You) and originality - short but sweet
3. Extended Play - short but not at all sweet apart from It Takes Time which is a solo track really.

Second take:
Buckingham Nicks blows Buckingham McVie out of the park any day as Lindsey and Stevie were a proper duo, whereas BuckVie is essentially Post-Rumours Fleetwood Mac (ducks for cover) :nod:

Extended play is not a favorite at all

Say you will is brilliant although a little long but that's ok. Lindsey's creativity and production is just as good as Rumours. YES, Rumours… listen to it people. It is missing Christine's warm and peppy songs.

Buck/McVie is equally as brilliant loving Christine's warm peppy songs

Say you will has Stevie's most tragic songs. Illume is a masterpiece. How do you put words about 9/11 into a song. The lyrics are hardly a poem. Lindsey takes them and molds them into the most unpredictable song in the world. Its unpredictable and hollow. It relates perfectly to 9/11 as that day was unpredictable and hollow. The music even turns angry. A masterpiece like many of the other songs. Everybody finds out is one of the Mac's best songs EVER. Top 10 of all best songs. To listen to every instrument is blowing out amazingly. The drums, the bass, the percussion, the singing. Its perfection. Title track is very catchy. Thrown down and Smile at you finally make it to an album and they are perfect. When you listen to Say You Will, I hear how much time they spent on making it. I don't understand the hate on this board for the album. I believe some don't like albums that are not commercially successful which is a shame.

Buckingham Nicks is a fantastic album - I enjoy Buckingham McVie and it is more professionally produced of course, but it doesn't have the heart that Buckingham Nicks have. It doesn't have the passion. That's what appeals to me. Plus, I love those harmonies!

SYW-EP-BM had one thing in common.
They pretty much sucked.

Among the Lindsey Mac albums, Say You Will is right up there for me right after Rumours and Tusk. The album suffered a little bit from not having the Christine lightness to balance the torment of Lindsey/Stevie but it's a great album nonetheless.

I LOVE "Say you will." Always have. Always will.
It wasn't commercially a bomb.
Considering it was released just as file sharing started booming, it's peak of#3 and sales exceeding 700,000 is decent.
I loved Lindsey's production on the album.
It was missing Christine, sadly.
But the combination of Buckingham and Nicks was exciting, The tour was also fantastic!

Buckingham Nicks is a lost treasure. "Frozen love," is so epic.
It is really a shame they cannot come to some agreement together to re-release it.

EP was not too exciting. I like "Sad Angel," but the other 3 songs bore me.

Buckingham Mcvie is just, meh, to me.
If that was to be the final Fleetwood Mac album, then I am glad it ended up as a duet collaboration.
It isn't horrible. But it sounds like adult contemporary music with edgy production.
But nothing stands out for me.
And the cover art, with Lindsey making that uphappy face in those too tight skinny jeans next to Christine's beautiful pose seems photo-shopped.

I don't think SYW is a great album or anything but it has grown on me a lot actually. I was really 50/50 on it at first but now I mostly like it. It has some really good songs. I do still think some songs were overproduced.

Buckingham McVie is a very nice, simple and summery album. At first I didn't think I would like it because I didn't like the two Lindsey songs that were released as singles and I wasn't crazy about the Christine song either but the rest of the album was much, much better and I really enjoyed it. But Buckingham Nicks is still far better, it's truly a lost little jewel of the 70s. There's just a certain magic to it.

The EP is really forgettable. I liked the piano song of Lindsey's but everything else just sounded like it was recorded in 2 seconds without much thought.

Buckingham Nicks is a fantastic album. Her voice back then was amazing. By the time they got to Twisted, the duo is ruined. Nowadays, $tevie sounds so nasal to me.

Buckingham McVie is a breath of fresh air. A fantastic collection of songs that flows so well together. Buckingham/McVie songs have always interested me in the unique way they write and sing together. It was amazing to see them live.

EP... is ok.. I listen to it maybe once a year.

SYW has some killer songs. The concept is ruined by two writers that have nothing to do with each other anymore... sans a fake relationship. And the opening track is horrible as is the ending track. Christine would have helped this album become a Masterpiece.

Extended Play and Lindsey Buckingham/ChrstineMcVie are Buckingham dominant releases. Buckingham is always working on something. A project that could be for a solo album could go to Fleetwood Mac or to Buckingham McVie.

Say You Will could have been better. It should have been released as a double album as initially planned, or it have been released as two separate albums in 2003 and 2004 respectively. "Running through the Garden" and "Smile at You" should have had more use of organ and piano.

Glad to have them all for different reasons--except Extended Play, which routinely bores me and feels sad sad sad sad, given the lack of genuine collaboration there. It should have been called Lindsey-Mick-John.

SYW is a VERY substantial record. I was awed by its heft and the strength of about half of its songs right away. This feeling has never left me.

Buckingham Nicks is a charming but--if I'm being honest--unexceptional record. The only tracks that achieve excelllence are "Frozen Love" and "Long Distance Winner," though the former is far greater than anything else on the record. The rest of album feels thin song-wise and light on arrangements. They sorely needed the FM backing on it.

Buckingham McVie is as good and as substantial as the best parts of SYW--and as a whole coherent project, the closest thing to a Mac album we've had since Tango, though with the warmth and spirit of Mirage.

I don't know if it's even fair to compare a 3 song EP to finished albums; even if the songs were really strong, it's not going to be on the same scale.

I actually enjoyed all three of those songs, but again, they're not comparable to an album of material.
