If Lindsey would have died, would Stevie & Mick be allowed at funeral?
I don’t think his family should allow them to attend his funeral after what they’ve done to him. They would just use him for press anyway. They are totally self absorbed.
|
I think Christine would be allowed.
|
I doubt if any of them would attend. You know, being the self absorbed.....people they are. Without loyalty, the lot of them.
|
At the time of his heart attack...no I don’t think they would have been allowed.
But now...possibly they would all attend, water under the bridge etc. Plus we live in strange times.. More’s the point they should stretch out a hand Now....before anyone of them croaks...not to get back together (that boat has sailed)..but just as a remembrance of what they had.. |
Of course if there was a funeral they would have been invited and all would have attended. Good grief!
|
I think Stevie would've had a speaking offer like a reflection. To describe to a congregation how Lindsey assisted her in taking her works from demos to classics. She did this in Nashville on the 2015 tour, it was sweet.

Why would they be invited? He wouldn’t want to be used by Stevie $ Mick again for attention. They treated him like garbage. |

I imagine Stevie could best articulate his massive impact on popular rock music. I'm being impartial. He worked closest with her and longest. I mean I guess the Fritz guys could've spoken. How old are they any way? Does any one know if they're the same age as Lindsey? |
No they should not have been allowed...also congratulations for writing " would have " instead of would of in the title of this thread..I'm impressed!

Very interesting and macabre question. I suppose that his wife and maybe his three grown children will set the agenda for his funeral, including invitations, notices, and so on. When we were last hearing publicly from his wife, she was not all that happy with the other members of Fleetwood Mac, right? Based on what I vaguely recall from her tweets, posted here, she did not seem in the receptive frame of mind.
Another interesting and less macabre question: If Lindsey and Chris are still friends, why wouldn't they record and release another Buckingham McVie album? From Christine's perspective, what else is she doing, other than waiting for a vaccine so that Mac can go back on the road, which could be never? Is it possible that Lindsey plans to incorporate Christine into his new album, not as a co-equal (it's going to be called "Lindsey Buckingham," after all, not "More Buckingham McVie") but as a guest artist? Questions, questions! My most pressing question is whether someone is going to release the rest of those 1980 concerts from Tucson, Omaha, and London, from which we got a few cuts for the deluxe batch a few years ago? |

Look, if Lindsey had the power to sprinkle his studio fairy dust into rock stardom, why did his six solo albums sell less than the six post-Peter, pre-BN Fleetwood Mac albums? And, don’t give me that dipsh*t “his solo albums weren’t meant to be commercial” crap. His songs on OOTC are interchangeable with his TITN songs. Stevie had the most overall Top 40 hits and Christine had the most of the band’s Top 40 hits. I mean, yeah Lindsey is a brilliant producer, but the freakshow is what moved albums, not his production. Stevie had more Top 40 hits produced by Jimmy than Lindsey. You know why Lindsey talked about the “43 year legacy?” Because that’s all he has. Stevie has her Hall of Fame solo career and Mick, John, and Christine have their blues roots, which, hey, Mick got the likes of Pete Townshend and David Gilmour to celebrate earlier this year. John McVie was the bassist of record on the breakout albums by John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Aynsley Dunbar, Mick Taylor, Mick Fleetwood, Jeremy Spencer, Danny Kirwan, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks. That’s ten Hall of Famers, two multiple inductees. They worked their butts of touring and playing the game and have more storied careers to show for it than Lindsey. Quote:

Most of Lindsey’s albums didn’t occur in his prime and he was always saving stuff for Fleetwood Mac. Plus, he had to turn the slop Stevie handed in into workable songs.
You are also forgetting that not all of Stevie’s hits were written by her and she had plenty of help from Tom Petty, Don Henley, Prince... Lindsey **** is all his own and he doesn’t need any help. |

fellow musicians - and he is very respected among his peers - yes, definitely. those people can appreciate and voice his massive impact. just read all the killers interviews coming out now. someone who will belittle him and make it all about themselves? that person should not talk. i am also not sure that he worked the longest with her. they know each other for a long long time, since they were teenagers. but their working relationship was just in spurts since what? 1982 Mirage? that said, i hate the premise of this thread and was trying really hard not to click on it or reply. |
I do not think Stevie would give a good eulogy since she makes everything about herself. I would not ask her to speak. Mary and Barry was her complaining that at her fathers funeral, her brother made it all about himself. Well, Stevie suffers from the same disease.
Mick would probably give a very good eulogy, albeit insincere, but he’s been such a horrid creature that I don’t think that he should even be invited. I don’t know, ask Richard to speak. |

if you stream the album, you can so clearly hear Lindsey's influence on Caution, when in between all the other songs on the album. |

"It's just so selfish of him to do this to me... Lindsey, how could you do this to me?" $he truly is a narcissist's narcissist. |
Strange, morbid thread.
I'm sure they would have been invited. They may have taken the decision for Christine to attend on her own and 'represent' the band. I'd imagine Mitch Froome would speak. |

This is a odd thread but let me stick some reality into it. The family would decide who spoke. I don't think Lindsey's wife is a big fan of Mick or Stevie so I would not imagine they would be asked to speak.
Mick did not even attend his mother's funeral. I am not making judgment and everyone has their own way to grieve. Celebrities sometimes do not attend funerals so they are not accused of making it about themselves. It does not mean they don't care. I have been around enough funerals to despise the people who make it about themselves. When my mother passed away, my least favorite Aunt tried to make the funeral about herself. I had to bite my tongue several times during the week. We don't speak these days. I don't think they would attend nor do I think they would be asked to speak. Just like they never attended the long list of other former Fleetwood Mac members i.e. Bob Welch, etc However if Stevie did get asked to speak, I agree much of what she would say would be about herself. |
My two cents: Based on Eillot Scheiner's speech at Lindsey's Les Paul Award ceremony, I'd say that–if any industry executive were to make remarks at Lindsey's memorial service–he should be the guy.

She'd probably sound like her fans, not at his funeral because she'd never be a part of it. But yes, she'd definitely mention her multiple inductions at the RRHOF, her album sales, her addictions, her abortions.... wait, those two last ones are on me. :wavey: |

Who else DID knock her up besides Don? I've read it before, but have forgotten... |
Just guessing Christine would be allowed to attend. The rest wouldn't dare.
Especially $tevie who would probably wonder if $he caused it. Having said that, I'm so glad he's alive. What a wonderful library of music he has created. His last album with Christine was refreshing to my ears. Looking forward to the new album. :D Stay positive. |
Oh come on now.....Stevie would gladly speak her 2 cents. Fleetwood Mac really just wanted Lindsey. She was the house cat.
"Sometimes they ask her about the men in her life.....and she says as difficult as it has been, they are poets yet they are priests of nothing.....but they are LEGENDS" ****mic drop**** |

A thread about a hypothetical funeral for someone who’s still living living is kind of in bad taste as it is, but that it’s right after we lost someone else is especially disturbing.
“Peter Green died. Hey, let’s make that about the still not dead Lindsey so we can slut-shame Stevie!!!” |
Well anyway, I guess he isn't dead yet anyway.
