A Mighty Wind

Has anyone seen this? It's hilarious! Pay special attention to Mitch and Mickey. ;)

DownOnRodeo 10-26-2003 01:48 AM

I really want to see this but haven't got around to it yet. I've watched the preview and it looks so funny - especially the obvious BN parallel!

goldie 10-26-2003 06:35 AM

If you liked that movie, you are also sure to love Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman. Same people are in it and it's the same "mockumentary" concept. I never stop laughing at these movies so matter how many times I've watched them. I have yet to see Mighty Wind!!!

Ali 10-26-2003 11:25 AM

I *heart* this movie. I went to the movies the other night and when the film broke, some guy yelled "Hey man, wha happened?" just like Fred Willard. Best part of the night for me hehehe.

Best In Show was great! You'll love A Mighty Wind.

Bwaaaha! How about the freaky color religion "The Bohners" were into? Too much.

Christopher Guest is a genius!!! A Mighty Wind was fab; I saw it three times in the theater. Still, nothing tops Waiting For Guffman; THAT was *HILARIOUS*. I watched it in bed and had to bust out the rubber sheets.

gldstwmn 10-26-2003 03:06 PM

I haven't seen Waiting For Guffman. I'm going to have to check it out.

cliffdweller 10-27-2003 08:16 AM

Someone told me that "A Mighty Wind" is a remake (albeit parody remake) of another movie, does anyone know what the original movie was?

chiliD 10-27-2003 11:30 AM

Best In Show is fantastic.

Waiting For Guffman is really good, too; but I'm glad I saw BiS first. C.Guest's style is an acquired taste.

I have yet to see Mighty Wind...but, I think it's a slam dunk that I'll love it.

All three of the above are basically "Sons of Spinal Tap". That is definitely where Guest got his roots.

Lindsey likes it too...

...at the Soundstage taping, at one point someone's guitar cut out and disappeared- I think it was Neale. But the whole band stopped the song, and Lindsey looked over at Neale and said "Wha happened?" just like Fred.

I cracked up laughing knowing what it was an allusion to, but I don't think very many other people got it. I think he saw me laughing, though ;-)

BTW, if you like the film- you should check out the soundtrack. It has all the stuff in the movie, plus extras that weren't included on the film- the BEST is the Michael McKeon/Christopher Guest/Harry Shearer version of "Start Me Up."

OMG Hayley! That's right. I hadn't seen the movie then so I didn't get it. I wonder if he sees shades of himself in the Mitch and Mickey thing?

I don't think Lindsey is, or will ever be, 1/100th of a degree as spacey as Mitch. But I get the Mitch/Mickey--Buckingham/Nicks connection. That's funny that Lindsey immitated the "Wha Happen?" line, actually it's totally hilarious because I can't even picture it!

Ok, this is a really old post but I just saw this movie recently so I thought I would respond. I absolutely adore this movie!!! I don't think it's as flat out funny as Christopher Guest's other movies, but it seems to have more depth and heart to it, especially when dealing with Mitch and Mickey. And Catherine O'Hara's performance was soooooo amazing...WOW. Although she was still so funny in this part she really showed her dramatic chops and I was completely impressed.

darklinensuit 01-10-2004 03:27 AM

I haven't seen Waiting for Guffman.

I saw the first half of A Mighty Wind about a month ago but had to return the video before getting to see the rest.

I liked Best in Show. I think my favorites were Catherine O'Hara singing that hideously shrill "God Loves a Terrier" song  and that woman from the Legally Blond movies ("Makes me want a hot dog REAL BAD") sitting with that moronic and plastic face (and a tiara in one scene) . And the couple who met after facing each other from Starbucks on opposite corners. Scary thing is, I hear there really are corners like those.

Best in Show was hilarious too!! Jennifer Coolidge was so funny as the collagen-lipped airhead:)

You have to see Waiting for Guffman. I think it's the funniest of the bunch. Parker Posey is particularly funny in this one as well as the rest of the cast of course. Definitely a keeper!

wondergirl9847 01-10-2004 03:12 PM

HA!

I just saw Best in Show on TV the other night...OMG, hilarious!! The two folks with the braces cracked me up!! Her going to get the bee toy and not finding one!

I need to see the other two!!

greatdarkwing 01-12-2004 01:13 AM

A Mighty Wind is amazing! I first saw Best in Show a year ago, and I could not stop laughing.....The best scene in "Wind" had to be that cult they are into...W.I.N.C...I think it is? And how the guy was locked in the basement with music....and they abused him with music...LMAO...

In "Best in Show" The best scene was Parker Posey looking for that bee...."Thats not a bee.....its a bear dressed as a bee!!!!"
  And then she said something to the maid about her green card....I WAS ON THE FLOOR!

I have to see waiting for Guffman, but I will say this...Parker Posey is amazing, she is also funny in Scream 3, although the movie sucked donkey dicks. But she was funny making fun of Courtney Cox's character.

I enjoyed A Mighty Wind, but prefer Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show. Best in Show is probably my fave.

LMAO!!

Yeah, and what happened to that old man? She left him for the dog lady who Fred Willard thought was a dude. LMAO!!

StreetAngel86 05-05-2017 10:46 PM

never seen this movie, waiting for it in the mail.
but currently on a huge Schitt's Creek bender
had no idea when I first started watching Catherine & Eugene had such a history.
Then I read the summary of the movie and i thought hmmmm
sounds a LOT like what Buckingham Nicks was/could have been if they'd stayed a duo hmmmm just switch around drug probs fro mental illness etc ...

Stevie and Lindsey need to record a song for a movie and have it nominated for an oscar and perform it live at the ceremony ...:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
