Chrsitine McVie on UK radio!!!

Good old Richard Allison played Christine on radio 2 this morning. A track from her new album called 'You Are' . I know that quite a few Fireflies heard it! I was driving home from work and it was a nice surprise. Sounded very 'Fleetwood Mac'ish' . Apparently he already played the track on his show on Saturday and got bombarded with emails to play it again! Really looking forward to hearing the rest of the album now!

I can't wait for this album!!! :blob2:

Gypsy-Rhiannon 05-05-2004 02:46 AM

OMG!!!! I emailed Richard about 5 mins ago to thank him for playing the record and my hubby just called me to say he mentioned my email!!! Wow!!!

I had mentioned seeing FM 6 times last year and he commented on me being a big fan and that I had emailed him to thank him for playing Christine. Then he said I would probably like the next track feauturing Stevie Nicks and he played Gold! Typical I missed all this but luckily my hubby was driving to work and heard it!

Thanks for sharing, Pip!
How exciting that brand new Christine McVie solo material is getting radio play. :D

I can't wait for this album!

Gypsy-Rhiannon 05-05-2004 03:08 AM

When the track started there seemed something familiar about it. I was stunned when I heard her voice.. I just didn't expect it! This DJ is great tho... he opened his show one day last week with Peacekeaper and once on his Saturday show he played 3 tracks from Tusk. Most of the other DJ's on this staion tend to stick to tracks from Rumours. And this is a national UK radio station so good that Christine is getting airplay already

macfan 57 05-05-2004 06:21 AM

Thanks for posting, Pip. :) This is great! I wish I lived in England now.

Does this mean that "You Are" is the first single?

Gypsy-Rhiannon 05-05-2004 08:44 AM

The DJ said it hadn't been released yet as the first single so I'm not sure. Hopefully!

He he. It would be kind of funny if Christine's album went platinum in a hurry.

If it did, it should put an end to a lot of arguments around here.

I hope and pray it does. No one deserves scuusess more. CM is brilliant and talented and I wish her well. In fact, I would fly to England to see her in concert, if she has one.

GypsySorcerer 05-05-2004 10:04 AM

Yay Christine! :blob1:

I hope her songs get some radio airplay here. I'm dying to get my hands on this album!

I love Christine, but I honestly don't think that will happen. And God I hope I'm wrong. This market is filled with too much junk!

I love it! Very "Christine" sounding....and I'm thrilled that Stevie sang on a track too!

:]

joe68 05-05-2004 11:12 AM

Where did you hear that Stevie sings on this records?! Thats great!

macfan 57 05-05-2004 11:15 AM

WOW!!! The first new Christine McVie song I've heard in 7 years. I LOVE it!!! It's beautiful, very classic Christine & very Fleetwood Mac like. Her voice sounds fantastic!!!

many thanks for the link, Joe. :)

Where did you hear about Stevie singing on a track? After the song was over, the guy said Christine had sang back up vocals on the last Fleetwood Mac album. Did you hear something else?

ThePenguin 05-05-2004 11:59 AM

Wow, thanks for posting that link. That was so neat to hear. I have to admit I am already missing John's bass supporting her voice, but other than that it sounded really nice.

sodascouts 05-05-2004 12:10 PM

Yeah, this is trademark CM. In fact, it almost seems like I've heard it before, lol. Nice though, even if she still is using lyrics like "love is fine." :)

Does the "You are..." [beat] remind anyone else of Coldplay?

dissention 05-05-2004 12:15 PM

This song rocks. If it's an indication of the album, it's bound to be fantastic.

ShangriLaTroubl 05-05-2004 12:18 PM

It sounded great, the guy was right, classic Christine - Fleetwood Mac type sound...that song anyway...good to hear Christine still has that same great voice we all love...she doesnt seem to have changed a bit..gotta love her

Chris

Mari 05-05-2004 01:04 PM

Pip

GypsySorcerer 05-05-2004 01:38 PM

I like it! She sounds great, as always.

jbrownsjr 05-05-2004 01:51 PM

Wow her voice is beautiful. Not crazy about the first listen, but guess what. It's growing on me.

Did anyone else hear those Fleetwood Mac ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh's

I miss that so much!

CarneVaca 05-05-2004 02:08 PM

This song sounds a lot like the stuff from Time. If the whole album is more of the same, it won't appeal to me. Be that as it may, it has a nice contemporary feel and Christine's voice sounds positively wonderful.

YAY US!! LOL

Hawkeye 05-05-2004 05:28 PM

I didn't care for the song much on first listen, but after about 3 or 4 I'm in lOVE with the song. Her voice is danmed beautiful and unlike Stevie's it's not always changing (not necasarily a bad thing to Stevie but you never know what you're going to get from her vocally on a song) This song flows like honey. Christine is a true American Idol. I'm going to delete this song now. Now that I've at least heard one song and loved it from her album, I'll wait patiently til GASP July 27th.

Umm, from Pip's second post on this thread:

I assumed Gold was a new song on Christine's album - or was he referring to the John Stewart song?? I'm confused...

DownOnRodeo 05-05-2004 07:49 PM

Haha I am an idiot, I thought the radio station jingle was the song, lol. 'Ack'!

Thanks Joe, Christy and Tracy!

Cristian 05-05-2004 08:10 PM

It does have a Time feel to it, which I think it's great. It sounds very Fleetwood Mac. Much more Fleetwood Mac than the current Fleetwood Mac, I would say. I love it. I cannot wait for the rest of the album, and thanks for the link. :)

Song of the moment - You Are (of course)

DownOnRodeo 05-05-2004 08:28 PM

I was just having a shower and realised that the percussion on the chorus is similar to the drumming effect used in YMLF. lol

jwd 05-05-2004 08:34 PM

Hey thanks for posting the link. I needed myself a little Christine fix. It's been a long time. I liked the song, but not blown away by it. Christine's voice, which sounds as good as ever, and the melody of the song are more appealing to me than the words. She definitely hasn't changed her main style of straightforward pure pop, and that's ok with me. :xoxo:
