When She Comes Down and DW Suite

When She Comes Down came up randomly on my iPod today and it caught me by surprise how similar it sounds to the first part of DW Suite. Most noticeable on the part "we'll all go to meet her" which sounds just like the line "we can all go together" in DW Suite.... I listened to them back to back and it feels to me like one is a recycle of the other.

The "We'll all come to meet her" also sounds almost identical to the end of underground where he hums.

I've never noticed the "D.W. Suite" similarities until now, but it does make sense. I've honestly thought it sounds a ton like "Trouble". Seriously just listen to the main beat and the little backing guitars.

Same for "Soul Drifter" from "Out Of The Cradle", just listen to the little hand percussion stuff and it kinda sounds like it's mimicking the keyboard bits from "Family Man".

The "we'll all go to meet her" part is from an old folk tune (possibly from near where I grew up) called Wild Mountain Thyme. He's lifted the melody and adapted the lyrics.

Lindsey has done this a few times, making reference to folk songs. The chorus of Murrow is another example. I always like these music references.

DW and When She Comes Down are kind of in that wall-of-sound Beach Boys thang.
