Songs That Remind You Of Stevie & Lindsey?

I've seen a lot of these on youtube. People putting together slideshows of rock's most famous couple to different songs. What songs remind YOU of their relationship? I always think of them when I listen to Cool by Gwen Stefani. I hope they really are  with each other

Rock's most famous couple? Really? We know them, but I'm not too sure they'd be considered first among most people. I think you'd have to look to Sonny & Cher, Ike & Tina, Kurt & Courtney, Mick & Marianne, John & Michelle, John & Yoko, ABBA and several others.... (Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale???)

I wouldn't call some of the couples mentioned by you really "Rock" couples, but when I was bored at university in the library I looked at many of these books on rock's most famous couples and in many there were featured Fleetwood Mac.

dreamsunwind 01-27-2017 03:52 PM

I've always felt like Mick and Marianne were the most iconic 'rock' couple, since they kind of personified that 60s rock scene, plus she was a muse in more ways than one, giving the book that inspired Sympathy for the Devil and all that.

For music couples in general, I think the most iconic is Johnny and June.

singertobe 01-27-2017 06:01 PM

Ok fine, maybe not the MOST famous couple.

Macfan4life 01-27-2017 06:34 PM

I cant think of any song that reminds me of their relationship together but there are lots of great songs about life after the relationship and the bitterness of the breakup.
Planets of the Universe
Silver Springs
Go Your Own Way
Dreams
etc.

Frozen Love

As this is the only song that they share songwriting credit (although The Chain songwriting credit belongs to all five of the classic lineup).

I've always thought "Amazing" by an Australian singer Alex Lloyd reminds me of them especially if LB sang it solo

A lot of people seem to think the Eagles' Life in the Fast Lane is about them. I think it's somewhat fitting.

I hadn't ever really noticed before but the lyrics for Tiny Dancer would have been fitting for Stevie. Recently searching for the song's meaning it came out an interesting quote by Bernie Taupin that reminded me of how Stevie described her relationship with Lindsey when they were young, with her taking care of him and printing stars on his jeans and their kingsize bed with vintage coverlets on the floor. If a movie or series will ever be made about them I think this would be a very good soundtrack:

"We came to California in the fall of 1970, and sunshine radiated from the populace. I was trying to capture the spirit of that time, encapsulated by the women we met - especially at the clothes stores up and down the Strip in LA. They were free spirits, sexy in hip-huggers and lacy blouses, and very ethereal, the way they moved. So different from what I'd been used to in England. And they all wanted to sew patches on your jeans. They'd mother you and sleep with you - it was the perfect Oedipal complex."

Tiny Dancer

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

Jesus freaks out in the street
Handing tickets out for God
Turning back she just laughs
The boulevard is not that bad

Piano man he makes his stand
In the auditorium
Looking on she sings the songs
The words she knows, the tune she hums

But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can hear me
When I say softly, slowly

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today

Blue jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band
Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you'll marry a music man
Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand
And now she's in me, always with me, tiny dancer in my hand

But oh how it feels so real
Lying here with no one near
Only you and you can hear me
When I say softly, slowly

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today

Hold me closer tiny dancer
Count the headlights on the highway
Lay me down in sheets of linen
You had a busy day today

In general, whenever I watch Bart Baker's Taylor Swift parodies I think to myself "This must be how Lindsey sees Stevie right now..."

Netter75 07-11-2019 08:52 PM

In regards to the current situation: "she's kerosene" by the interrupters. Some excerpts:

"I'm a match, she's kerosene
You know she's gonna burn down everything
She's an arsonist in her pass time
And I've been burned for the last time"

"She hit the hive now the bees are swarming
He played the victim till the crowd starts forming
She's got a history of making a scene, yeah
She tell a story, she gets right in
He's the executioner and she's the queen
And he's the one whose neck is in the guillotine"

You know what song lately has really got me thinking of Lindsey? Waiting in the Wings from Tangled the Series. Especially this line:

It's always someone else who sings
While I'm left there waiting in the wings

Always? He sang 9 of the 24 songs last time I saw them (2014).

And visually he was far from being ignored.
I know I'm not wrong 2014

“ You’ve changed” by Billie Holliday or Eva Cassidy.
It would be Lindsey to Stevie....especially the line.
“You’re not the angel I once knew”.

Villavic 08-06-2019 03:27 PM

I think Christine was quite prophetic when she wrote...

You can take me to paradise
And then again you can be as cold ice...

Your mood is like a circus wheel
You're changing all the time...

Though probably at that moment she couldn't guess this would apply to her new partners.

well, in 2014 she said she wrote that about Lindsey, so..... she didn't have to predict.

This ditty reminds me of me thinking about Stevie and Lindsey and Fleetwood Mac in a moment of reverse recall while memories of what might have been fly around without being tethered to any actual referents that would have been — had the past not caught up to and ultimately overtaken the future.

We were sure
We՚d never see an
End to it all

Yeah, but its probably the way he feels when compared to Stevie's success. Plus I think the lines are more metaphorical.

I do too! It's a fantastic song!

The lyrics fit Nicks though :D And she could never sing this song and do it justice, which is a gratifying knowledge.

It would be so nasal. No thanks.

Alas he was the highwayman
The one that comes and goes
And only the highway-woman
Keeps up with the likes of those
And she in all her magic
With hands as quick as light
Took him to be a challenge
And went into the night
And he in all his glory
Was far ahead of her
But she was never sorry
For wishes that would burn
Enter competition
She chases beneath the moon
Her horse is like a dragonfly
She is just a fool
And she wonders is this real
Or does she just want to be Queen
And he fights the way he feels
Is this the end of the dream
And then he sees her coming
Heartbeats on the wind
Considers slowing down
But then, he could never win
And she, out in the distance
Sees him against the sky
A pale and violent rider
A dream begun in wine
And she wonders is this real
Or does she just want to be Queen
And he fights the way he feels
Is this the end of the dream
A dream as the thunder wakes her
And her highwayman disappears
On a life already lived before
In eyes welled with tears
Today and still today they ride
Will they ever win
He the glory,
She the love,
Still they try again
He the glory,
She the love,
Still they try again
He the glory,
She the love,
And still they, try, again
