Converse has also been tapped as the only American player to contribute to the forthcoming A Blues Tribute to Peter Green -- honoring the founding member of the original Fleetwood Mac -- on the Viceroy label, which also handles Sunset Heights. As I write, Sunset Heights is on a three-week promotional tour through Europe, where SRV-style guitar slingers are looked upon with more anticipation than skepticism.

In my oppinion it is concerning double CDs published by VICEROY in USA in 1995 (in Europe by SEAGUL - P. Green Songbook). And there play much more American players (e.g. Harvey Mandel, Southside Johnny, Larry McCray, Ken Hensley).

BLUES FOR GREENY is a collection of songs performed by Moore in honor of guitarist Peter Green. Gary Moore's tribute to Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green, Blues for Greeny, is more of a showcase for Moore's skills than Green's songwriting. After all, Green was more famous for his technique than his writing. Consequently, Moore uses Green's songs as a starting point, taking them into new territory with his own style. And Moore positively burns throughout Blues for Greeny, tearing off licks with ferocious intensity. Michelej1 - Blues for Greeny was an entirely different tribute collection, it wouldn't have had anything to do with the blog piece you referenced in your first post (the info in that blog was actually lifted from a 1994 article). So I believe kowk is correct that Rattlesnake Guitar was the tribute collection referred to in that blog.

All of the musicians on this project virtually donated their time and talents just to be included. Viceroy Records decided that it would be most fitting to give something back to the music; therefore, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this double CD will be donated to Willie Dixon's Blues Heaven Foundation which is a non-profit organisation that proves to preserve the blues tradition. 1995 was the year of the tribute CD. Some were great (like the Todd Rundgren tribute "Still There is More"), some not so great (the John Lennon tribute "Working Class Hero"). One of the best to come out last year was "Rattlesnake Guitar". Peter Green was the original guitarist in Fleetwood Mac. Long before they achieved their commercial success, they were a blues-based band. Green wrote several songs that became successful for other artists, such as Santana's signature version of "Black Magic Woman", Judas Priest's take on "The Green Manalishi", and "Oh Well" (covered by several different artists).
The artists covering Green's songs are diverse. Guitarist Snowy White (who has toured with Pink Floyd) contributes an excellent rendition of "Looking For Somebody". The late Rory Gallagher (to whom the CD is dedicated) contributes two tracks - "Leaving Town Blues" and "Showiz Blues". Bassist extraordinaire Billy Sheehan turns in an amazing version of "Oh Well". In a departure from his days in Uriah Heep, Ken Hensley does an interesting acoustic version of "Hellbound on my Trail". Arthur Brown's menacing take on "The Green Manalishi" is done as only he can.

Also featured on "Rattlesnake Guitar" are tracks performed by Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull), Dave Peverett & Rod Price (Foghat), Stu Hamm & Jonathan Mover (Joe Satriani), and many others. Don't overlook this CD - it's one of the best of 1995. Steve Marshall.
