Uncirculated Rumours

The reality is Stevie was always talented musically, not just vocally. But she chose to be a lead singer. As recently as 2014, she performed on piano and vocal unaccompanied by anyone else "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?"

Her piano demo of Sisters and her demo of Think About It are both magic.
This one, not her on the guitars, but so special. I think I want to give Harry Styles head.

There is not doubt through listening to the vast treasure trove of material that Stevie has created that she can put together a basic song structure. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging that as the limit to her talent- it is no small feat. That said, she is in no way a talented instrumentalist- it does make me scratch my head though that she would have access to many people who could have helped her with that is she wanted to, but I don't think the raw musical talent is there to have made that big a difference. She is what she is and what she has created is wonderful. Too bad a vast amount of her best work never saw and never will, see the light of day as she is too wrapped up in being a legend (to me, that status is way overblown and highly inappropriate)...

Maybe I want to believe in Stevie's musicianship more than I should because I find myself in a very similar position she may have been in during the late 1960's and early 1970's...
I'm churning out lyrics and basic chords on piano (occasionally on guitar) and having to pay $$$ for decent production of these songs, all to the amazing achievement of 1000 views on YouTube of my most popular song. (Yes, I was pretty happy about that actually.)

I'm still waiting for My Mother's Rings and City of Hope to see the light of day. At this point the best I can hope for is that they make a posthumous release.

Found this gem while searching in vain for Stevie's song by the same name about Barbara:

And here's the original City of Hope song:
