Saw this this morning and thought, we will at least have a chance to see how they look and sound before the big tour gets underway. I still haven't bought tickets. So this will be a good way to decide if I want to go to the Pittsburgh show or not.

I'm getting excited! Great timing for the band, a month before the tour actually begins. I hope they sing 3-4 songs at least!

As for Elle's side comments about this concert being a comedown from the classic shows East and West, that's just silly. Wasn't Journey one of the acts at the classic shows? No offense to Journey fans intended, but the HeartRadio show lineup sounds JUST as impressive, if not more so, than the classic shows.

That's an...interesting lineup to throw 'Fleetwood Mac' in the middle of.
But it'll probably help their ticket sales.

Agreed. The whole thing is done with now, move on with it.

This would be the perfect opportunity to debut a couple of new songs from the new line up..... I'm sure Neil and Christine have songs in the hopper that could be recorded quickly.... And maybe even Stevie has one available.... But that probably ain't gonna happen.

I've been talking about My Mother's Rings ever since Stevie mentioned it at some Q and A or something and it ended up on Fleetwood Mac News. It was written in 2011 or 2013 about the late Barbara Nicks, Stevie's mum. I can't wait to hear it, because she never would have recorded it with the band if Lindsey was recording/producing, she may still do it solo though, who knows.

I've heard from one of the band's production people that the plan is to have a three song EP recorded over the summer with one song written by Neil, one song written by Christine, and one song written by Stevie. Neil probably has a hundred unrecorded songs that would sound great for Fleetwood Mac such as "Ray of Hope", "Love Is All That Remains", or "Guiding Star". Any or all of those songs would be fantastic for Fleetwood Mac. I'd love to hear Stevie sing "Guiding Star" which would be perfect for her voice. Christine would be great to sing "Ray of Hope". Demo versions of each are on YouTube and they're classic Finn songs (see below). I'm sure Christine and Stevie also have at least one song ready to go from past sessions. If each can up with 3-4 songs then we'd have a full album ... :)

Mick already said that they were planning on at least two new songs as their “calling card.”

The plan is three songs if Stevie can come up with one. Two is the fall back option.

They need to get in the studio quickly if they're going to get these songs recorded before rehearsals begin in August. I really hope they can make this happen. I'd love to hear what this configuration sounds like.

bwboy 06-13-2018 06:11 AM

No way will they have time to record a full album before the tour. They're not even getting together again until August to start rehearsing. I would love a 3-4 song EP but even that seems unlikely. Frankly, a tour with new songs AND deep cuts might be asking too much of the audience, so I say skip the new songs for this tour and focus on hits and deep cuts. Besides, the new songs from the Dance were the bathroom breaks, same thing with their last EP. I'm thrilled to never hear Temporary One, Sweet Girl, Bleed to Love Her, and My Little Demon again.

Wait..let me get this straight:

You'd like 3-4 new songs...
But you have no interest in seeing them perform any new material...
Because new material in 97 and '13 were bathroom breaks...
But also have no interest in hearing said new material above ever again
But you'd still like that 3-4 song ep of new material?

....Your point is exactly why "new music and deep cuts is too much to ask of the audience".

Do the new music, but please...Play Gypsy with the 15 minute intro for me just one more time, the last ten years of touring wasn't enough.

It's like asking the waitress to go down the salad dressing list, asking for one on the side, knowing the entire time you had no intention of even using the salad dressing in the first place.

Most bands takes a month or so to record a new studio album these days. The days where a band can take a year to record an album (ala Tusk) are over. For example, Neil Finn just recorded his recent studio album (Out of Silence) in eight hours live on Facebook/YouTube. Eight hours! And it's a freaking great album. Neil spent a while writing the songs and rehearsing with his musicians but the actual recording took eight hours. Sometimes it's true that less is more ...

BigAl84 06-13-2018 01:50 PM

Haaaaaaaa:]

Fleetwood Mac make a record or an EP in a month...that's a good one!

It takes about a year for them to even debate releasing new music while starting work on new music, a year for passive aggressive behavior to come and go, at least one if not two greatest hits tours to come and go in order for new material to happen.

This band couldn't fart in a mason jar within a month. It doesn't matter how prolific Neil or Mike may be, unfortunately it will not be their call to make.

This all sounds strangely familiar...but this new lineup will reinvigorate this band and it's going to be all new again...

BigAl84 06-13-2018 02:01 PM

And somebody was doing private corporate gigs as of **last week** if that's any indication of the dedication to this "new band"

But Lindsey won't be holding up Fleetwood Mac anymore.
