Well said, Feather Blade. That was how I took it, too. Freud would have a field day on this forum, the way every remark or comment is analyzed by some people just looking for a nasty intent. Glad to see that none of the numerous articles mentioned it, because they knew it was much ado about nothing.

Reminds me of when Blondie was inducted, and one of the former members asked Debbie Harry (during his speech) if he could join the band when they performed, and Debbie said something like "my band has already rehearsed" and he had a hissy fit and responded "Oh, it's your band now?"

No, that's just our little Stevie. She was just drunk
on her ego.

Last night when I heard her say "my band...", I thought of
making a thread here about it. But then I knew I wouldn't
need to because someone else would.

I'm embarrassed for her every time she makes a speech.

Well, she fired Lindsey for smirking, so I guess we’re learning from the best.

I've never heard Lindsey refer to Fleetwood Mac as being "his band". I don't remember anyone else in the group, even Mick and John refer to Fleetwood Mac as being their band.

Thank God she was the first act (because you leave the best for last :woohoo: ), so she could go home and sleep her drunkenness. Or more like her pillness…. ;)

I don't read a lot into that particular comment (as someone already stated, people say "my church" etc), however, I agree that I don't recall any of the others referring to it as "my band." It's classic Stevie... everything revolves around her and her perspective. This particular night WAS about her (and the other inductees) and so she had the right to be giddy (though it was embarrassing for me to watch what I saw). But I won't slam her for being excited on a night like that.

(Though the fact that this was about her solo work and not FM also makes the comment all the more unnecessary and does inevitably twist the knife.)

Honestly, I can't take her anymore. She's a ditz. That rambling, idiotic speech! I saw Harry smirk behind her. :distress:

And there go his chances to be the next Neil Finn.

She is a delusional IDIOT. WHO ELSE could disrespect the person inducting them so? Only a f**king IDIOT, could make that mistake.

The most AMAZING thing in her career is how she managed to do ANYTHING. What a twat biscuit!

Actually the far more ditzy mistake was saying that she wrote Leather and Lace for Merle Haggard and Jessi Colter ..WTF?!

And I am sure it was mentioned somewhere earlier, but she also said Harry was a member of NSync

Mick does it in all his books, though.

Notice that no one who had a hissy fit about Stevie saying "my band" will reply to your example of Lindsey saying the same thing.

What a twat biscuit, huh?

The speech was entertaining in the way it was expected to be entertaining--a rambling mess of improvised stuff. I bear no ill will on her honor, nor on her calling FM "her band" (they've all done that).

But I DID have some problems with the speech:

1. Lindsey is only mentioned in a passive-aggressively demeaning way: the pot smoking boyfriend who stayed home and worked on music while she waited on tables. (And in Harry's intro, his tenure as Fritz's bassist is mentioned but not his exceptional guitar abilities that developed post-Fritz.)

2. Waddy Watchell isn't mentioned at all.

3. For a woman who has rightfully made a lot of noise about her being the first woman to be inducted twice, I bristled at the end of her speech when she spoke of her woman manager and how hard it is for her to take direction from anyone, "especially another girl."

4. Sandy Stewart is not mentioned.

5. Mike Campbell is not mentioned.

6. Rick Knowels (sp?) is not mentioned.

7. In terms of producers, only Jimmy Iovine is mentioned. No mention of, say, Dave Stuart.

8. Rulebook: sleep with men who will take you places.

……………..

I feel everyone of Stevie's albums has value so I was also disappointed to see that only songs from her first two albums were performed.
