Just starting a new continuation of the thread. After 250 responses it gets a little daunting. Okay I am listening to...... a commercial with a bunch of kitties looking at a lizard for a geico ad. (THe TV is on in the background).

For the 2nd time today I am listening to Franz Ferdinand. Earlier, I was grooving to Joni's Night Ride Home - the latest addition to my Joni collection. It is brilliant of course. Especially the title track. I have been on a serious Joni Jag all month.

I borrowed "TVBO Nina Symone - Sugar In My Bowl - 1967-1972" from the library, and I'm halfway through the second disc. "Here Comes The Sun" is playing now.

I've only heard her music in passing - this is my first full-fledged NS experience! Woohoo!!! :]

It includes her versions of very popular songs such as "Turn Me On", "The Look of Love", "To Love Somebody", "I Think It's Gonna Rain Today", and a great version of Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released" (which someone brought up in a recent thread that I now can't find...).

Great stuff! Highly recommended!

The NS set I'm listening to has 5 unreleased songs, one of which is an 8-minute version of "Jelly Roll" that is AWESOME.

Getz/Gilberto ... Ahhhhhh.

"Tall and tan and young and handsome,
The girl from Ipanema goes walking..."

Which never fails to remind me of my fave B-52s song:

"GIRRRRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLL from IpaNEEEEMAAAAA
SHEEEEEEE goes to GREEEEEEEEEEEENLAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!!!!"

Johnny The Fox by Thin Lizzy. There was a lot more to those guys than The Boys Are Back In Town. Phil Lynott was a an underrated performer and songwriter who left us all too soon.

Thin Lizzy had more to offer besides "The Boys Are Back In Town", Such as the albums "Black Rose", "Thunder & Lightning" and the awesome live album "Live And Dangerous".

Phil Lynott, IMHO, was a song writer on par with Bruce Springsteen & Bob Dylan...So what the music Lizzy made was more rock than Bruce/Bob his lyrics were always way-a-head of the times. Plus he always had great guitarists in Lizzy such as Gary Moore (Who in an older interview I have told he bought his first ever Gibson Les Paul from one Peter Green...Who he saw as his mentor!), Scott Gorham, John Sykes, Eric Bell & Brian Robertson

RIP Phil Lynott...
