Merry Christmas!

The snow is on its way to Kent.

Still you did say you don't care for sunny weather.

I think she possibly has just about enough money to ensure her house is adequately heated.

Anyway each winter pensioners in Britian get £200 from the government to help with fuel bills!

Gail, how old do you have to be to be a pensioner in the U.K.?

Currently the age for receiving your state (government) pension is 65 for both men and women.

However until a few years back it was 60 for women and 65 for men. The new retirement age for women was gradually phased in over a number of years. A woman of Christine's age would get her state pension at 60. BUT the amount you receive depends on your National Insurance contributions over the years. As she spent most of her earning years in the US her state pension would be quite small.

I think she would almost certainly be entitled to the £200 and a bus pass from Kent County Council (hurrah)

Just as well she's a multi millionairess rock godess! (Her brother's words not mine)

Gail

PS can you tell I work for a financial adviser?

I doubt that there's that many buses in rural Kent. Probably one every third Thursday to Canterbury!

If Chris were a pilgrim in "Canterbury Tales," which one would she be? The monk, with his tales of tragedy from antiquity? The prioress, who spoke less-than-perfect French? The nun? The squire? The reeve? The cook?
