Cool!

It is a limited run, but the Eagles one started in mid-November for what was billed as a six week run, and it's still going. Perhaps if there's interest, the Fleetwood Mac one will also get a lengthier lifespan.

I don't have the service, but I'll sign up for a free trial to enjoy this.

jbrownsjr 01-25-2018 04:07 PM

Very cool!! I heard it announced today on Classic Rewind.

StevieandChris 01-25-2018 04:15 PM

The press release mentions their current media contact! I've been wondering who took over after Liz Rosenberg retired.

Back in August I asked my sig other to email Sirius/XM for me about a FM channel since he has the account. I drafted my thoughts in email but when we pasted them into their comment box it seemed huge and we weren't sure it fit. I shortened a few things but below is my basic message he sent to them. The strangest part is that he never received a "thanks for contacting us" response. Nothing. I figured it disappeared. I'll never know if my email was read by them. But from now on till the day I die I choose to believe I'm responsible (at least partly) for the FM channel.:laugh:

8/20/17

I've been a subscribing member since 2002. I love Sirius/XM radio but after listening for this long I think something's missing.

Please consider a Fleetwood Mac channel. This band has given the world incredible music for almost 50 years. They're still together and will tour in 2018. There's more than enough material--here's a few suggestions:

*Decades of music from different eras
*Solo works from every member
*Deluxe albums--Rumors, Tusk, Mirage and Tango
*Buckingham Nicks album
*Buckingham McVie album
*Chicken Shack
*Various TV appearances or songs featured in TV shows
*Music associated with the band thru collaboration or covers of FM songs: Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, Dixie Chicks, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Taking Dawn, Warren Zevon, John Stewart, Randy Newman, Tom Petty, Don Henley, NIN, Walter Egan, Dave Mason,Tori Amos.
* LB movie soundtrack songs from these movies: Vacation, Back to the future, This is 40.
*Stevie Nicks soundtrack songs from these movies: Heavy Metal, Practical Magic, The Book of Henry, Twister, Against All Odds.
*Interview people who've worked with the band over the years. Few examples: book authors, the guitar and drum techs, Jimmy Iovine, Dave Stewart, Richard Dashut, Ken Caillat,
*Interview current members and past members like Rick Vito and Billy Burnette.
*Highlight each band member with personal info/bio/fun facts

My suggestion list is not all inclusive but will get you started. I hope you give the Fleetwood Mac channel serious consideration. The band and their music is loved all over the world by 3 generations of fans. Their music has stood the test of time----there is no expiration date on their greatness. Fleetwood mac is a diverse combination of British and American musicians; male and female singer/songwriters. Their songs are woven thru the fabric of popular music and have been the soundtrack for weddings, birthdays, and funerals.

You have an opportunity to entertain and educate your listeners. Underneath the well documented drug use and break ups there is the music. Consider the studio wizardry and guitar playing of Lindsey Buckingham. The unique voices and songwriting skill of Stevie and Christine. The musical chops of John and Mick--one of rock's greatest rhythm sections. They've had numerous lineups with multiple guitar players. There are 9 albums worth of music before the classic Rumors 5. Sadly, most casual listeners are unaware of the music and members prior to the Rumors era. Now's the time to share this with your subscribers.

I guarantee the Fleetwood Mac channel will be a hit.

Sometimes I swear whomever programs The Bridge is a FM fan. They will play a song like You make Loving Fun sung by Christine, then Walter Eagan Gold, then a Stevie Nicks Solo Song And then Bob Welch Semtimental Lady. I swear this went on like four or five songs where a casual listener would not notice and just think they heard five unrelated songs. But I was like OMG!

Lola 01-25-2018 09:52 PM

I've noticed that too. Didn't Stevie have a promo or something on the Bridge awhile back? I've heard pre Rumours Era Mac on the deep cuts channel. I really hope we'll get some new interviews or info on Lindsey's upcoming stuff and the band tour. Every radio in my house and car will be tuned to the FM channel 24/7

jbrownsjr 01-25-2018 09:57 PM

^^^^ Good job!!

OH... and Dave Mason is the other one they throw into those clearly FM themed moments. It can't be coincidence. Although FM can sometimes be Incestuous in their cross pollination. Especially Stevie. Atta girl.

BLY 01-25-2018 10:33 PM

I will just play my iPod that I have that has only my Fleetwood Mac/ Solo tracks on it when I just want to hear my MAC. Everything I own is on one Ipod. My dedicated pod to the Mac.

AliP 02-01-2018 03:11 PM

For those who have SiriusXM the channel was supposed to start today on Channel 4. It is not on. Am I the only one not getting it?

I wrote a thread about this about a year ago. Stevie was running promos for the Bridge and stated anytime she takes a limo she requests one with Sirius-XM radio and tells the driver to put on The Bridge.

Lola 02-01-2018 06:36 PM

I'm not getting it either. We called sirius xm today but they're not the programming people--they want to sell upgrades. One guy suggested the Bridge. We tried an hour later and a lady didn't know anything about it. I had to explain it's a designated channel! WTF! Maybe tomorrow?

Thanks for clearing that up--how did you find out? I looked online but didn't find anything. Those numbskulls I spoke to earlier were clueless. Can you believe I seriously considered taking a day off for this! Glad I didn't. I emailed them to suggest The Chain for the very first song. Boy oh boy are you right about the unnecessary drama

sodascouts 02-01-2018 10:16 PM

What really pisses me off is that I signed up for the 30 day free trial last night so that I could start listening today. Now that they've pushed it back a week, 7 days of that trial are going to waste.

I don't understand why they couldn't have put up an announcement on their website as soon as they realized they weren't going to be able to go live when they'd promised. This kind of thing certainly does not make me want to become a subscriber.

GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER, PEOPLE!

Oh, HELL NO!! Call those f*ckers tomorrow and demand they extend your trial by 1 week (if you haven't already).

I'm not getting it either. They were playing soul songs on Channel 4 yesterday. Online they say it will air Thursday 12 to 12. I don't get it.

jbrownsjr 02-02-2018 08:59 PM

I can't wait... I have a subscription for the next 6 months.

sodascouts 02-08-2018 04:41 PM

So do we know any more about this? I thought the date had been moved back a week, which would have meant it started today... but nope. Now the date on the site says "Next airs Tuesday 11:00 pm" (Central time) - does this mean we wait another week, or is it just basically meaningless crap, as no actual date is provided?

I thought it was the 8th. I logged on this morning and nothing. I'm not going to get my hopes up any longer. Not sure when this is happening.

Lola 02-19-2018 04:38 PM

I called siriusxm this morning. Nobody knows anything about anything. At all.

I asked every question I could think of----is it permanently delayed? why is it delayed? will you stop a current channel and replace with the FM channel? are you changing the channel line up completely and is this part of a restructuring? is the problem on your end or the band's end? will the channel be rolled out in conjunction with a tour announcement? will you announce when it starts or will it just show up one day while I'm flipping thru channels? when will we get a statement about this--the last one was Feb 6th? is there someone else I can speak to?

I made a comment like " I bet you're getting a lot of questions about this" and he apologized for the inconvenience for the 35th time. Never addressed my remark. My blood pressure was sky high---why don't the customer service people at least have a script. At least a barely plausible "answer" for the delay?!!

This is so goddamn aggravating.

Richard B 02-22-2018 12:52 PM

Checked in with my Sirius Account support and they confirmed the Fleetwood Mac Channel is delayed in spite of the press release stating Feb 1 launch. They could not give me any new date other than it's coming soon.

jbrownsjr 02-22-2018 01:57 PM

Was listening to Classic Rewind and they said FM will be touring in 2018. And then played Stevie's soundbite about her having to tell the band they can't tour every year.

 She really is a hoot.

By "hoot", do you really mean $#%&ing CRAZY? Delusional? The ultimate narcissist?

amycondit 02-25-2018 07:36 PM

Wonder when the FM station will be on Sirius?

While I've been enjoying the free month long trial of Sirius so far---lots of FM on many stations and other fun genres---my trial ends on Thursday! I wonder if they couldn't get the new content---meaning band members acting as dee-jays for commentary, interviews, and to host a show with their song choices---because of band members' schedules. Wish there was more info forthcoming from FM and Sirius as to when the channel will appear. And I was so excited to sign up on the first day, too!

Lola 03-02-2018 12:03 PM

This morning I heard a commercial for the upcoming Lynyrd Skynyrd channel. They'll be playing music from other southern rock bands as well. Skynyrd is playing a private show for sirius/xm members on 3/5/18 at the Buckhead theater in ATL.

I don't need to point out Syknyrd alone doesn't work as it's own channel. But FM certainly would work as it's own channel:mad: SAD.

GypsySorcerer 03-04-2018 03:22 PM

I heard "Road Trip Radio" will be on Channel 4 (where FM was supposed to be). I am thinking this will never happen.

Me too.:(:(

jbrownsjr 03-05-2018 09:49 AM

The whole thing is odd. It was like when Christine's record company was having a Q&A and announced for fans to submit questions.

Then nothing.

BigAl84 03-05-2018 05:02 PM

I'm pretty sure nobody is missing anything special with this Fleetwood Mac XM station. It's going to be a glorified pandora like station playing Fleetwood Mac tracks with some pre-recorded messages from some of the band members. I wouldn't expect anything more than that. "I'm Stevie Nicks and this is XM's Fleetwood Mac channel ::insert Fleetwood Mac song:: we've all heard a million times.

I highly doubt it's going to be a really cool crafted thing like Tom Petty did with his or Bob Dylan did with his. Sorry - I'm just a realist.

justcrazylove 03-05-2018 06:50 PM

From what I recall, each member not including John; had curated their own playlist of their tunes with introductions of each song. all members had been to Sirus in NY and recorded their part. There are pictures of Lindsey and Chris at the station.

StevieandChris 03-05-2018 08:40 PM

My guess is this won’t go actually live until the 2018-2019 tour is announced.

I was listening to the "Bridge" the other day on Sirius and they played a recording of Stevie talking about Dan Fogelberg. Perhaps one of the messages recorded for the MIA FM station.

Stevie did promos for the bridge awhile ago but they play them over and over. She discusses everything in those promos. I have heard that Dan Fogelberg promo before. She also does one for the Eagles, Loggins and Messina, among others.

Ah, got it. I didn't know if they were old or new. Didn't she "take over" the Bridge station for a day? A few years ago?

jbrownsjr 03-30-2018 02:01 PM

oy... this band... they are hilarious.. Never a dull moment.

I did not know about that one. I used to listen to the bridge a lot, not so much anymore. I actually created a thread about Stevie's promos on the Bridge about a year ago or so?
I love the promos. She did one that said every time a limo picks her up at the airport she instructs the driver to but on the Bridge. If they don't have Sirius xm she hires another limo company. She also said that Loggins and Messina was the only band ever that the Mac opened for. She said one or two Eagles concerts too. She would make for a fun DJ for a few hours. I like her stories.
