Chicago 4/13

New thread for tomorrow night's show! This will be my first FM concert besides seeing Stevie solo on her IYD tour.

I know there are pros and cons to this tour..but regardless I cannot wait to see these beautiful performers with my own eyes. Let's appreciate their talents while we can!

Who's going?! I'm center floor Row 18!

No Elle :( I was considering one of his city winery Chi shows last fall. But with school and money I just ended up not going. NOT passing up his next solo leg however, you can count on that!

How are people getting such good seats? I have seen them 1000 times and cannot get a good seat. I need to be front and center.

There are no cons to the show. They are amazing. This is my third show this week. I cannot believe I had to wait 5 days from DC!

Does anyone have the words to Without You? I love that song. So Buckingham Nicks like - It makes me really want that second BN album!!!

3 ways from what i gathered -
  • Mick's tickets if you got them immediately when they went on sale
  • platinums (many of those prices went down closer to the show and great ones were available for just a bit over face, in some cases even better seats than Mick's for cheaper)
  • buying tickets day of the show, or within last 2 days, when unsold platinums went back into the pool (i think?).

Have fun guys tonight at the show.Enjoy and be safe.

I predict a setlist change tonight.

And I'm hoping Angel makes an appearance on this tour.
I wish they would mix things up and do a slightly different setlist each night.
Like Tom Petty. Or the Grateful Dead.

me too. if they'd do that i might consider looking for some good tix for another show somewhere close to me.

i don't see a change in the setlist just yet though, but hoping it will happen (and not dropping but adding songs!) at some point in the tour.

swapping Sara with Angel wouldn't hurt anything, they'd still have their nice little Tusk block which works so well - it would work even better!

and although i love love love Eyes, now that i've heard it already live, i wouldn't mind it being swapped with What Makes You Think You're The One. :blob2:

oh and of course, they need to add Walk a Thin Line!!!!!

dontlookdown 04-13-2013 06:45 PM

Walk a Thin Line would be amazing.

No. It would hurt my everything.

I mean, given the pace, Angel might be a nice fit for the Tusk block, but it's not like Angel and Sara are interchangeable. Angel is beloved among focused fans and Sara is a national treasure.

is it? i was watching reactions of the whole arena, and didn't see much craziness on Sara, for any of the 3 shows i've seen.

GDW and Landslide, however - everyone went wild. Gypsy and Rhiannon pretty big reactions too, have to reluctantly admit.

also, and that's the song i really was hoping Lindsey would swap out, but NGBA after Landslide gets almost as big of a response as Landslide.

Angel would be a perfect fit for the Tusk block.

If they would share the same mic for Angel, a la Tusk, I would gladly have them sacrifice Sara. Interaction is always a good thing. I hate it when they don't acknowledge they are on stage together. It looks ridiculous.

Yes.

Actually though, I don't think Stevie is overly attached to the song live. The problem is, if she stopped doing it, I highly doubt that she would place a "new" song like Angel in its stead. If she cut Sara, then we'd just lose Sara and probably wouldn't get anything good to replace it. So, I am not wishing for them to cut anything.

no cutting, replacing. :) since we know they won't just add...

and however much i don't like Say Goodbye, it is fittingly closing the arc of the story they choose to tell on this tour - from Landslide through Without You to Say Goodbye. so it has to stay, otherwise WATL could be a nice ballad-y closer too :p ;)

If Stevie made a replacement, it would probably be switching in Soldier's Angel for something. That's the only thing I could see from her. Lindsey is more flexible.

So, do you stand at the foot of the stage softly singing the words to Say Goodbye with them, your eyes slightly misted over? That has got to be a sight!

Well, you know Lindsey. If this tour had a second leg, I wouldn't put WATL out of the running, after a break.

lol. you know me better than that Michele!

but i do think it sounds good actually, guitar work and singing, once i get over the fact that it's that song [which has that sound/melody i don't like]. :p

Just got back from the show. My third this week. No cutting Sara. It is amazing. This is the best they sounded. They are having so much fun. The one replacement is to swap out Not That Funny for Bleed to Love Her. They might have a perfect show. It was amazing.

And by the way - MSG not so great. The sound is ****ty there. Anyone who thinks that is the best concert venue is about as smart as Rolling Stone. DC and Chicago far better sound. Amazing week.

Exactly right about NTF. Stops the show dead in its tracks. Besides that, perfect!

lol - we have exact opposite opinion - Sara is a drag and slows down the show way too much (even though sounds better than i expected which doesn't say that much for it). Not That Funny is a badass coolness weirdest punkish song the way they do it now and says "we are full of energy and not some old farts and we've been that since Tusk", it has to stay!

elle 04-14-2013 12:38 AM

plus wasn't everybody here crying how the set is same old and stale? but you want to keep Sara that was done on the last tour, and throw out the one song that, besides Sad Angel and Without You, actually completely turns around the setlist from what it was in 2009????? Not That Funny adds that alternative coolness to the set and single-handedly changes the set to the energetic new show!

Photos & Video

Let's see...from Mick's M&G, I asked him about Christine recording with them and he shot it down because "she'd have to tour." Thanks for being a dreamkiller Mick! ;) He did threaten her with physical violence if she doesn't play at one of the London O2 shows, so you Brits are a lucky bunch!:D

The show was great as usual, much tighter than when I saw them in Columbus last week.

Hmm. Sara is an INTERnational treasure. Tusk and Sara are Fleetwood Macs Culthits. Not like the rumours and white album hits.

My favorite part of the show was Sisters of the Moon. I had seen them at MSG and DC Verizon Center this week. Chicago was the best concert - NY the worst. Chicago fans better and the sound is so much better at the UC. In any case, I said to my buddy - Stevie says at the end of the song they have not played since 1979. But really it was 1982 for Mirage. At the end of the song, Stevie said - such an old song - have not played in years. Someone yells 1982. She said huh - I've been saying 1979. Damn right - Chicago rocks!!!!!

Hopefully she'll start saying 'the early 1980's' from now on.Waiting with baited breath for the SOTM video to surface.

That was funny, at least now she knows! My favorite part was when she was talking about Buckingham Nicks and how the album tanked, and the whole audience went "aww." And then she says "no, it really tanked!" and Lindsey pipes in with "tanked!" I also thought it was funny how she said it was winter in the morning and summer by the afternoon. I didn't realize 50 degrees was summer!

Yeah, I'm eager to see the video too. Someone should give Mick a dvd-r copy of the 1982 Sisters Mirage performance at the Meet and Greet to give to Stevie to "remind" her. She might not be aware of how well the staging and performance of Sisters worked for that tour, and she probably doesn't remember that Lindsey was singing the third verse. Or, of course, she may be choosing to conveniently not remember that particular version of the song.

it's probably a part of her life that's completely erased from her memory if it ever was there ;)

Very true. The band though should at least be familiar with their concert videos, right?? Maybe it's like the case of Without You where Lindsey tells her one thing and she remembers it differently. I will say I was very surprised when on Good Day New York last year the hosts asked Stevie about her excellent impromptu version of Wild Heart at the Rolling Stone photo shoot and she was actually aware of it. So it's hard to tell what she knows and what she doesn't.
