Live Solo Acoustic Album Out November 13!

Lindsey Buckingham has been traveling throughout the U.S. this year playing intimate, unplugged concerts in support of his 2011 solo album, Seeds We Sow. Now, the Fleetwood Mac singer/guitarist is set to release one of these performances as a digital download. Lindsey Buckingham: One Man Show, will be available via iTunes on November 13, and will be the veteran artist's first recording documenting one of his solo acoustic gigs. The album was recorded at a September 1 show that was held at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines, Iowa.

"This performance is from a single night in Des Moines…taken right off the console mix, with a couple of room mikes added in," Buckingham says about the album. "It's live and raw, with no post-production. I love it! It captures not only the spirit of the performance, but also the spirit of where I now live as an artist."

The 13-song recording captures Buckingham playing various selections from solo catalog, including "Go Insane" and Trouble," as well as Fleetwood Mac classics like "Go Your Own Way" and "Never Going Back Again."

Buckingham will hit the road for a new series of U.S. solo acoustic shows starting November 3 in Oklahoma City. Visit LindseyBuckingham.com to check out all of his upcoming tour dates.

Since I was at the Des Moines show, I am very excited about this! Hopefully Down on Rodeo is included! My only gripe is it's on itunes. Wish it was on amazon as well!

Yes, this is very exciting but Oh Lindsey... "the spirit of where I now live as an artist" Really?? Surely just "who I am as..." or something similar would have been fine? Just as well we've grown accustomed to his "unique" turn of phrase by now and this just raises a wry smile and small shake of the head... Gotta love it!

I agree! It may well come out at some point. I'm a sucker for proper artwork etc. Exciting to have the live album out though.

Me too! So much output from him lately, it's amazing! Not looking forward to the FM activity coming up, I'd prefer to see him continue to put out solo material and tour

A very nice surprise. I don't think I've downloaded a boot since the Saban, so it will be very nice to have a clean, soundboard mix. I can't wait.

Wow, amazing news!! I really want to listen this new album!
Nice to see Bleed to love Her, NGBA and I'm so afraid on the setlist...
Hey! Yesterday I was listening to the versions of NGBA and This nearly was mine from the '92 Center Stage video. So, I'm already beating the new acoustic work...
Regards!! :blob2:

Peestie 10-26-2012 02:29 PM

Cool!

It's a shame that two of his very best songs are being left off but this is still a nice surprise.

I've said plenty of times before that this is exactly the kind of thing Lindsey should be doing for every single show on his tour and then they should be on sale from his website. Other bands do it and it doesn't take a lot of work. I'd do all the mixing and editing for him if he sent me the files!

Bar the two missing tracks my only gripe is that I'd like to be able to get a lossless version for my "archive", not a lossy Apple file. Or does iTunes offer lossless files and I've missed it?

Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham To Release Solo Acoustic Live Album
11 hour(s) ago | Music News | By Rock Square

Lindsey Buckingham’s critically acclaimed cross-country solo tour doesn’t wind down until late November, but the Fleetwood Mac frontman is already releasing a live album recorded during his 2012 jaunt. Lindsey Buckingham: One Man Show will be available digitally on iTunes come November 13.

The “raw and unmixed” thirteen-song set was recorded live and in one take on September 1, 2012 at Hoyt Sherman Place in Des Moines, Iowa.

According to Buckingham, the recording was “taken right off the console mix, with a couple of room mikes added in. It’s live and raw with no post-production. I love it! It captures not only the spirit of the performance, but also the spirit of where I now live as an artist.”

Elaborating on that “spirit”, Buckingham said: “My center has always been voice and guitar, and as I've evolved, I've looked to broaden the range and vocabulary of that center. So when I decided to tour in 2012, it suddenly felt as though I'd been working towards something, that I'd arrived at a new place. I sensed it was time to do something I'd never done: a one man show.”

YouTube evidence suggests that Buckingham’s Des Moines performance was a hushed and reverent affair more than deserving of an official document. Check out the video below. Stirring stuff, right?

Tracklist:

2. Bleed To Love Her

Yeah, it's pretty great. Selling every show would be mindblowing but to get a document of every tour is fantastic - especially for those of us who can't make it across the Atlantic!

So excited!! What makes this even more thrilling for me is the fact that I was at this show and did the M&G that night.

in fact, there's another show from this tour that he should make available, but with all 4 encores he did (and we know he'd never do that, since he thinks the way he does requests is uncontrolled / haphazard) - second Chicago show!

Buckingham says, "As an artist, you need to seek out what is essential and discard what is inessential, to always keep an eye on what lives at the center. That was the impetus for this performance. My center has always been voice and guitar, and as I've evolved, I've looked to broaden the range and vocabulary of that center. LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM RELEASING FIRST LIVE ALBUM NEXT MONTH

10/31/2012

Lindsey Buckingham will release his first ever solo live album via iTunes on November 13th. The 13-song collection, Lindsey Buckingham: One Man Show, was recorded on September 1st in Des Moines, Iowa at Hoyt Sherman Place, and chronicles the set Buckingham has been playing on his current solo acoustic tour. The album features Buckingham tapping into his solo work with tracks like "Go Insane" and "Trouble," Fleetwood Mac with "I'm So Afraid," and "Go Your Own Way" -- and even a rare dip into the Buckingham Nicks catalogue with "Stephanie."

The tracklisting for Lindsey Buckingham: One Man Show is: "Cast Away Dreams," "Bleed To Love Her," "Not Too Late," "Stephanie," "Come," "Shut Us Down," "Go Insane," "Never Going Back Again," "Big Love," "I'm So Afraid," "Go Your Own Way," "Trouble," and "Seeds We Sow."

We asked Lindsey Buckingham if he was ever been jealous of his late '70s colleagues Peter Frampton and Neal Schon, who came to symbolize the guitar heroes of the era, while his own groundbreaking work was buried under the drama of the Fleetwood Mac myth: "To some degree, the way the average person judges guitar is sort of guitar for its own sake. And I guess, I've always tried to make guitar in service of the song, and maybe that makes it a little less obvious to the average listener. Part of what I judge success as being, in terms of good record making is when the guitar work -- or any instrumentation kind of melds to the song and becomes not something that you're aware of, just becomes part and parcel with the whole."

Lindsey Buckingham tour dates (subject to change):

November 4 - Overland Park, KS - Carlsen Center
November 5 - Little Rock, AR - Juanita's Cantina Ballroom
