Does anyone else see this?

Where Stevie and Lindsey are holding hands, I've always seen it as a face. I only realized this morning that it is indeed their hands.

Hm. I never made that connection either. Well done Liam.

michelej1 10-30-2007 08:03 PM

Well, that's kind of funny Liam because most people say, "where is the face? I can't see it? Tell me where it is." And then you try to tell them to turn the album sideways so they can see it better. You have to explain where the nose is and show how she's wearing a bandana or something.

In your case, it's just the opposite: you only saw the face from the beginning and didn't realize that it was their hands.

Did you wonder why there was an old lady face on their album cover?

Did you think it was Gypsy from the song or maybe Mrs. Scarrot?

With the Time album, I never realized what it was really in the egg. Then this one person said he thought it was an apple and in response Chili popped in and responded that apples don't lay penguin eggs! That was the first time I realized it was a little penguin.

LOL, I never saw the face, only their hands. I see it now that you mention it though.

Carol Lee 10-30-2007 08:16 PM

I've never seen the face before. I just studied it for 5 minutes before I finally saw it.

Oddly enough I dont see a "face" at all, nor have I ever. it always looked like hands to me.

michelej1 10-30-2007 08:42 PM

Five hands accounted for in this photo. Where oh where is Christine's left one? This inquiring mind wants to know.

For those who can't see the face, maybe this will help. Or just make it worse.

Well, don't beat yourself up prematurely. When a couple is pictured dancing and the FIRST thing one sees in their clasped hands is a face, I'm not sure I know what that portends. I mean, that might not get anyone a passing grade on their Rorshach tests:nod:.

 "Jewishgroups.org." Why does that no surprise me?

Anyway, my History teacher put that up in the first week of school and all I saw was the old woman. Now I see the younger fine-ass-bitch in profile.

I can see both on that one. Still dont see a face on the Mirage cover.

Villavic 10-31-2007 12:45 PM

Yes, this was discussed long ago at the Ledge, and some thought that was the reason for the name "Mirage".. And somebody posted a closeup photo of the hands where you can clearly see the woman.. cause looking the whole album pic it's difficult to see it

Ha haa.. now I remember the first time somebody posted about watching a woman in those hands, and other ledgies said they saw it, too,.. a ledgie replied.. What have you guys been smoking??

Heehee, I love this ... has everyone spotted the penguin on the cover of the Dance? That's the real question...

The outtakes from this session are great too. No old ladies in sight, though.

thats interesting, because I pretty much like all 3 of those better than the actual album cover.

really? ew, not me. especially that last one. stevie looks completely coked out. I mean...she was  I'm sure of it. but still. she looks old or something :o

Chrislit18 11-01-2007 07:56 PM

I love the first two, the last one, not so much purely because of Stevies Face.
If the second one was in color, and Christines face didn't have that look, I would say that would have been perfect!

The first one is amazing though
+++ better than the actual cover.

Musicman408 11-10-2007 07:45 AM

I love that first outtake and I actually see the face in that outtake. Normally I'm really bad at finding that kind of thing but I'm excited I did. As for that old lady one, I have only been able to see the obvious one, the woman with the head turned, nothing more......

Yeah, but on the actual cover Stevie has an elephant sized neck.

the real question is - can you see the old lady face in the elephant's folds?

*cracks up* I drew this cover for an art project once and I did notice that as I was drawing ... "what is going on with her neck?!"

Again, anyone found the penguin on the Dance cover?

Ghost_Tracker 11-10-2007 02:15 PM

Ironically, for me it's also always been the opposite - couldn't see the face.

I always saw the hands, and could never see the face.

Now with help from here, I finally can - Yay! lol!

Uhm - I THINK it's supposed to be MICK!

No I haven't. I just went to look. I assume that the globe has John and Mick inside like before. So, I don't think the penguin is there? Where is it?

I'm pretty sure that picture was the inspiration for the "Mirage" on the front of the album. The F.M. album cover is a "nod" to it.

The REALLY fun part is to try to see both the old woman and the young woman at the same TIME!

(Or to try to quickly switch back-and-forth between the two.)

I suppose on the Dance cover, upon investigation, I do see something like a penguin wearing a necktie, but really it's like trying to find a marshmallow in white milk chocolate.

I'm not certain.

Nancy Buckingham, being an art teacher, may have been thinking of it when she suggested Mirage.

I always liked how the Hold Me video in the hot, dry desert with FM hallucinating played into the "mirage" theme.

The whole concept of the band members searching endlessly and not finding each other or whatever else it was they sought was very good too. Lindsey not being able to capture Stevie in paint . . . Stevie schlepping her own portrait across the sand in heels and an evening gown . . .it's a great video.

Thank You-I was beginning to think I was the only one who didn't have a clue about a face-I have only seen it for what it is...hands.
