All over again
I don't know if this has been discussed, since I don't follow this forum enough. I just read "All Over Again" (from Time album) was performed on the 2018 tour as a live duet between Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks.
Since the lyric mentions "Well it's it's time to move on to the rain. And finally break the chain", that could be the answer of "Who Expects This Band To Carry On After This Week?". But then it says "In spite of the heartaches and troubles in love I'd do it all over. Do it all over again" So...  |

I’m impressed Stevie knew the song. Can you imagine Lindsey agreeing to do anything from “Behind the Mask?” |

No way on earth that Stevie could name yet alone sing any song from Time LMAO She knew the song because Chris picked it to practice and THEN Stevie learned the song. |

Christine said that she couldn't remember which album it was from. Stevie said that it was her idea to perform it. She'd heard it on the Fleetwood Mac channel, and thought it would make a good duet for her and Christine. |

Who would dare have a thought that wasn't about her?:D |

Stevie was asked to name her favorite Lindsey song in 1998 and could not even name one until the interviewer felt embarrassed for her and threw her a lifeline of the song Stephanie and guess what....Steive said that was her favorite Lindsey song after she could not name any. Then she took credit for the song because "names don't mean anything for Lindsey." I would not be surprised that Stevie even knew Time existed let alone one of the obscure tracks. I don't believe she is sitting around listening to the Fleetwood Mac channel either. I don't believe Christine does not know which album it comes from either. Each member of the band brought multiple songs to rehearse for the tour. This was one of them. For me to believe Stevie's story of her hearing it on the radio is as truthful as Stevie and Lindsey hugging on stage pretending to care deeply for eachother. I don't believe either story. If so you would also have to believe Christine is dumb. Sorry I don't believe that either. You seem to want to believe a woman who could not memorize the phrase "I want my MTV" and needed cue cards and multiple takes. But then again... she was born in the desert so she knows how it feels there. She either meant baby Jesus or Gulf War veterans. False comparison IMHO. This is also the woman that Joe Walsh stated thought the Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial (the one with cub scouts marching into Kentucky Fried Chicken was the latest Prince video at the Prince video premiere (Source: Joe Walsh Rockline 1990) |

ETA: How hard is it to imagine Karen or whoever pulling up Fleetwood Mac on Spotify and Stevie making a note of which songs she liked? People don’t need to be well versed in a band’s catalog anymore to find deep cuts they like. |

I imagine she and Mick having some time together, going through ALL the albums, spending the day together. And I could see them saying, "Oh wow, that's really apropos to what we are about to do." (All Over Again)
I honestly feel like she and Mick talked in Italy about the forthcoming axe. How could they not? They both really had grown so tired of Lindsey. Christine wasn't there for 15 years. She and Lindsey were in reunion mode. They aren't going to include her on that information. Especially, while she's touring with Lindsey. |

While I have zero doubt that Lindsey was firmly on their sh*tlist, Tom Petty was still alive and the tense November tour negotiations hadn’t yet happened. I don’t know if they had planned on firing him them, per se, but I imagine they were planning on reining in Lindsey’s role as musical director and asserting themselves in terms of setlists. Neil Finn was already on Mick’s radar by then, so maybe. It’s ironic that they connected sometime around the last OWTS shows. |

But, in a way I think this was the birth of... "wouldn't it be great if we could have some freedom from LB running the band. Listen to all of these great songs we could be playing... What if, Mick? What if?? " In my head, something like that happens. |

Lots of supposition! I think “All Over Again” was Christine’s own offering for the tour. I bet she relistened to Time around that point as she was reconnecting with her own musical legacy. I bet it was her idea, too, to perform “Get Like You Used to Be” in Hawaii before she rejoined. The music bug bit her again and she sifted through all her old material. Musically speaking, she’s been in a great mental space because she enjoyed writing new stuff for Fleetwood Mac or Buckingham McVie and pulling stuff out of mothballs for performance (like “Wish You Were Here”).
If Christine goes back on the road with Fleetwood or Lindsey, I bet we could hear “Sooner or Later” or “Prove Your Love” or whatever. Despite her deterioration or whatever you’d call it, she is afire again with music! |
It’s not surprising to me that they would do this song. They did DLMDA after Lindsey left in 1987. There’s a point to it and I think that it is a song Stevie would choose. To tell you the truth, Christine doesn’t seem that interested in certain songs she’s written, no matter how good they are. She promotes this song when it first comes out and then she seemingly forgets about it.
Believe me, if I went up to Stevie and Christine snd said “Hollywood some other kind of town,” I would get the same blank stares from both of them. Equally blank. I don’t think Christine has amnesia. I think she remembers this song if she wants to. She’s just not that interested. |

You could walk up to Stevie and say “I don’t want to know” and she’d try to look like she really didn’t know. But she does.
Lindsey was going through this thing where he was trying to do a rare Tusk song for each tour. So, he went through Storms and Beautiful Child. If they’d stayed together he would have gotten Chris to do her mothballed stuff. My choice would be Honey Hi, with Mick coming down to the floor with them for drums. |
I’m convinced performing “All Over Again” was Stevie’s idea. As loopy and narcissistic as she is, choosing this tune from an album without Lindsey’s participation was a very calculated move. And it paid off. From what I saw on YouTube clips (I refused to see this incarnation live in person) the song was a wise choice. They both sounded good and it was an ideal “first” for them: a Christine and Stevie duet. That novelty was highlighted as a way of telling the world they didn’t need Lindsey to do exciting things on stage. I believe they were largely wrong in that assumption, but AOA really did work.
And no: I don’t think Chris really thought about the song after she’d recorded its. |

Its possible after hearing it AFTER Christine played it during rehearsal that Stevie wanted to do it. But no way in hell Stevie knew anything about the song to want to do it. As I mentioned earlier, Stevie could not even name a Lindsey song, sometimes does not even know the lyrics to her own songs, etc. No way I could ever believe that the most obscure Fleetwood Mac album she wanted to do a song from it. I am a little surprised some people believe this nonsense she puts out from the stage. I also don't believe Christine does not remember which album the song came from. Total B.S. Its almost like Christine wanted to cover for Stevie's nonsense exclaiming not to know which album its from (like Stevie would know and Christine didn't) Chris just wrote it and recorded it with the band. Sorry I call shade |
I can believe that Christine might not know which album it was on. She might get things at the end confused with the compilations. She was interviewed about the later songs so much less often than the others that their chronological place in her repertoire might not be as cemented. I’m not sure I couldn’t fool her about, say, where Heart of Stone showed up.

I remember an interview Christine did when they were promoting TITN and she couldn’t remember the title of the big single off her solo album.

Of course she knows what album YMLF was on, or SYLM. But some song from 30 years ago, that you never played live? You record them, and for the most part, you're done with it. I doubt that ANY member of the Time incarnation has listened to it in the last decade. |

So it makes not sense to repeat on stage every night that she has no idea what album its from. I think it was banter in her joking style not to mention Time since 97% of the audience did not know about it or own a copy. IMHO an honest statement would have been "When we were rehearsing for this tour, we dug out lots of old songs. When I played this for the band, Stevie seemed to enjoy it so we decided to turn it into a duet.. Its from the album Time (which none of you guys bought). Chris's humor there :) |

Her secretary can’t remember the title either? That’s shameful, but not everyone can be Karen Johnston, I suppose. |
