Buckingham/McVie lyric thread
Feel free to be the first to post the lyric to anything released prior to the album (which I imagine will have the lyrics anyway if the last 42 years are anything to go by).
Gonna post the first two now. |
IN MY WORLD
Lindsey Buckingham Fare farewell Heart of gold Maybe we're lost Without the cost Of stories that we've told In my world Everybody stays Nobody wishes for words they couldn't say Bless my soul Let the night unfurl Dancing, spinning, dreaming Singing in my world Fare farewell Liberty Maybe we're lost Without the cost Of who we used to be In my world Everybody stays Nobody wishes for words they couldn't say Bless my soul Let the night unfurl Dancing, spinning, dreaming Singing in my world (break) Lay lay down Fall about Take your time To cross the line All without a doubt In my world Everybody stays Nobody wishes for words they couldn't say Bless my soul Let the night unfurl Dancing, spinning, dreaming Singing in my world |
FEEL ABOUT YOU
Christine McVie-Lindsey Buckingham You're so far away I wonder if you hear what I say This love for you I can't conceal That's how I feel You are the sky at night Black and white Green and blue That's how I feel You are so beautiful Beautiful That's how I feel about you You're honey in my tea You're jam - it tastes the sweetest to me This love for you I can't conceal That's how I feel You are the sky at night Black and white Green and blue That's how I feel You are so beautiful Beautiful That's how I feel about you instrumental break You're so far away I know that you'll be back anyday I am a magnet, you are steel That's how I feel You are the sky at night Black and white Green and blue That's how I feel You are so beautiful Beautiful That's how I feel about you ad lib to fade |

and SATC (from our own fmfanuk's site http://www.fleetwoodmac-uk.com/still...ow_lyrics.html), although these are original solo lyrics so we will see whether they changed anything for BuckVie -
Sleeping Around The Corner She called to me Meet me at the border Wake me up when my papers are in order Lord I dont want to bring you down No, I never meant to give you a frown I'm just sleeping around the corner Lord I dont want to bring you down No, I never meant to give you a frown I'm just sleeping around the corner We made sweet love over and over She said oh sweet darling I'm your little red rover Lord I dont want to bring you down No, I never meant to give you a frown I'm just sleeping around the corner She said to me, I dont mean to scorn you But I'm been lying And I've been too scared to warn you Lord I dont want to bring you down No, I never meant to give you a frown I'm just sleeping around the corner Lord I dont want to bring you down No, I never meant to give you a frown I'm just sleeping around the corner -- Written by Lindsey Buckingham Performed by: Lindsey Buckingham Produced by Lindsey Buckingham Recorded and Mixed by: Lindsey Buckingham 2011 Now Sound Music |
Pretty sure it's jam that Chris is singing.
"Your jam it tastes the sweetest to me." |

With the apostrophe, "You're jam-- it tastes the sweetest to me" is saying "You are jam-- it tastes the sweetest to me" When really the line is saying your jam is sweeter than any other jam to me. So you need the possessive 'your' "Your jam, it tastes the sweetest to me". And I agree with the poster who said in one of these threads that that line sounds a bit naughty... |
mmmmm toe jam
|
I'm pretty certain she is saying it is your jelly that taste the sweetest to me ..kind of a randy old bird she is

The lyric booklet will reveal all. I expect I was wrong about the apostrophe though...

It takes a masterful songwriter to pull off what she did in that song:) I have to agree that was a bit naughty of Chris but I love that it's really -you- who makes it naughty, she's just talking about condiments! lol. I love it. |

Re. In My World verse 2:
Fare farewell Liberty Maybe we're lost Without the cost Of who we used to be - I'm pretty sure it's 'Farewell Velveteen', not 'Liberty', which obviously carries connotations withn the band... I wonder when Lindsey wrote the lyrics? |

I was also considering the "YOU'RE honey in my tea" and trying to make it tie in with that.
Of course having inadvertently written a song for Bill Clinton before now, the line "Your jam it tastes the sweetest to me" could easily be about Monica Lewinsky... |

On "Feel About You," I hear:
"Your candy tastes the sweetest to me." |

Who has truncated this thread and why? I put the Red Sun lyrics in here a couple days ago and now nothing after May 5th is showing.

Red Sun - reposted after thread deletion
RED SUN
Christine McVie/Lindsey Buckingham I wonder where you are As I fall upon my bed And I think about the way we were So much left unsaid I wonder what you're doing As I walk along the shore You took your love away from me When I only wanted more Sometimes I wonder Do you ever think of me And it's worse for me at night you know When the red sun kisses the sea Slowly breaks the dawn today Heralded by the sun My favourite time of day Or so I thought when we began My mind is filled with journeys Echoed with your smile No you won't take that away from me Even if you try Sometimes I wonder Do you ever think of me And it's worse for me at night you know When the red sun kisses the sea guitar solo Repeat chorus twice Ad lib to fade |
Thank you, Murrow! I love 'Red Sun'!

No idea if this is accurate because I still haven't heard the song. Not my work, of course.
Lindsey Buckingham & Christine McVie – Too Far Gone Something's creepin' and crawlin' down my spine Lips are tinglin' and I'm feelin' so fine I see you look at me The way you shouldn't do I know it darling 'cause I feel the same way too Too far gone to turn around Too far, goin' underground Too far gone I know what I'm feelin' It's just a waste of time 'Cause I love you darlin' Can't get you out of my mind Maybe I'll move to the other side of town Find some place where I can't see you look around Too far gone to turn around Too far, goin' underground Too far gone Too far gone to turn around Too far, goin' underground Too far gone Too far Too far gone to turn around Too far, goin' underground Too far gone Too far gone Yes I'm too far gone Too far gone Yes I'm too far gone |
Lindsey Buckingham & Christine McVie – Carnival Begin
I open my eyes The ship was out at sea People I didn't know Places I never did see Too late to conceal it Too late to hide it Too late to reveal it Too late to fight it I want it all All the colors and swings A new merry go round Carnival begin You opened the door And I stepped in Not knowing where I'm going But I know I'm gonna win I can fly again Got the freedom in my mouth Travellin' girl is movin' north, west, east, and south I want it all All the sparkling things A new merry go round Carnival begin I'll take it all I may lose or win A new merry go round Carnival begin I always wondered If you ever miss me I always thought I heard you call I always wanted Wanted to hear your voice Summer turned into fall I want it all Those sparkles and swings A new merry go round Carnival begin I'll take it all I may lose or win A new merry go round Carnival begin |
^^^ Those lyrics and that song give me chills.

"Love Is Here To Stay" - Lindsey Buckingham & Christine McVie
Tender was your miracle Tender was your whispered voice As I lay this soul to rest Even though I stayed too long Even though I had no choice I will do what I do best Wind blows one way Time goes But love is here to stay When stars come out at night When the moon is full enough I will lay this soul to rest Brook of flowers, hearts of stone Even though I played too rough I will do what I do best Wind blows one way Time goes But love is here to stay In the blue and gray You ran out to play Seems like yesterday Tender was your miracle Tender was your whispered voice As I lay this soul to rest Even though I stayed too long Even though I had no choice I will do what I do best Wind blows one way Time goes But love is here to stay Wind blows one way Time goes But love is here to stay |
"Lay Down For Free" - Lindsey Buckingham & Christine McVie
Strange music echoed in my head I waited for words left unsaid The rains came and washed away my fear I heard you whisper in my ear I won't lay down Lay down for free I won't lay down Lay down for free For free For free I touched you But you were not alone I reached for you But you were not at home I stood by beside our broken bed Her voice said, calling in my head I won't lay down Lay down for free I won't lay down Lay down for free For free For free I won't lay down Lay down for free I won't lay down Lay down for free For free For free |
"Game Of Pretend" - Lindsey Buckingham & Christine McVie
Did I say too much, darling? Did I give Give the game away? Was it that touch that set off the thunder? More than words could ever say 'Cause you are the reason for my happiness And I am so blessed So blessed to find you You take, take away the emptiness And I will follow, follow behind you Did I want too much, baby? Did I cause you too much pain? You burn so bright just like a fire More than words could ever say 'Cause you are the reason for my happiness And I am so blessed So blessed to find you You take, take away the emptiness And I will follow, follow behind you I guess I'll never know, dear 'Cause I can't see this end My heart is where you go, dear No more games Game of pretend 'Cause you are the reason for my happiness And I am so blessed So blessed to find you You take, take away the emptiness And I will follow, follow behind you |
