What a stunning house. I wonder why she is selling it? Downsizing? She put so much work into that house since 1990. I wonder where she will move? With all the money from this tour I assume she could keep this house and buy something somewhere else part time. But maybe this is part of her therapy to not be so isolated. While the house is gorgeous, there is not a neighbor in sight. Talk about a stunning home. I can see this is the place she was riding her scooter around in the 2004 In the Meantime promos LOL.
I'm shocked only 3.5 Euros? And the ad says... "Small" country estate. Just beautiful. If I hit the powerball on Wednesday, I will buy it and invite everyone from the Ledge there to celebrate with me :)

THANK YOU for posting this!

applebucked 09-20-2015 04:56 PM

She has a flat in London from what I know so maybe she's moving there full time.

Macfan4life 09-20-2015 06:05 PM

Maybe she is moving back to LA to devote all her time to the upcoming Mac album.
:)

michelej1 09-20-2015 06:23 PM

There that gal goes again, burning her bridges.

I wonder what she will buy to replace it. I know she has the London apartment, but I think she would want some land for her doggies to roam on.

I can't make out everything in the music room, but I do see the Rumours gold album on the wall. I wonder who plays the drums in her house! She has the kit set up on the wall and the piano on the opposite end.

Good eyes Michele
I see a framed Dance album on the right side of that wall.
Maybe her nephew comes over and plays drums or maybe left over from In the meantime.

What an awesome house!

aleuzzi 09-20-2015 09:44 PM

Good for her! This suggests to me that she wants to lead a more social life again. And with that, possibly record more?

The house IS fantastic. She has a great eye for renovation and interior design.

Its 3.5 Million Pounds, not Euro, which is about $5.5 Million USD. I've lived in both Europe and the UK, it gets confusing.

That house is gorgeous though. Absolutely stunning.

I remember reading recently Chris said 4 full time gardeners live on her property. Now I understand why

Indeed. Those gardens are lovely. I have to say, I'm somewhat surprised at the more modest interiors, though. For some reason I was expecting something a bit more grand. The furnishings especially are unpretentious and downright cozy. I guess it only makes sense they'd be understated, though. Matches the lady herself!

aleuzzi 09-21-2015 07:36 AM

Incidentally, the Flinstone House in a suburb of SF is going for 4.2. million. I think Christine's is the better deal!--even if it ain't near SF.

FuzzyPlum 09-21-2015 09:42 AM

Her house reminds me of Kiln House and Benifolds (albeit in better condition, I'm sure).
Perhaps she should have had the band come over to live communally while making an album.

Her piano looks to have a Stevie influence.

I guess she must be moving full time to the States and just keeping her London pad for visits- makes sense, I guess the upkeep on a nice place like that must be a waste if you are never there.

It tells me she's in a happy place in the States.

It does seem very cozy. You just want to recline against a cushion and read in every room pictured. And I can imagine her cooking in the kitchen.

It also looks like a framed picture of John's face on the top left of that part of the wall that has the pictures/albums....?????? Am I wrong?????

FuzzyPlum 09-21-2015 02:52 PM

Is that one of the African safari hats from the Hold Me video sat on the piano (partially hidden)?
Is that a crystal ball also sat on the piano?
Or am I making things up that arent really there?

Yes, I'm sure that's John.
Surprisingly there seems to be very few (if any) band pictures around the house.

mylittledemon 09-21-2015 04:01 PM

Holy cow... what a stunning property. She must've needed half a dozen "employees" just to look after the place!

HomerMcvie 09-22-2015 02:06 AM

FANTASTIC post!!!! I love the peek at her home!

Blue Horizon 09-22-2015 05:33 AM

I wonder where Christine will set up home next?
My guess is..........Maui.
Makes sense on so many levels for her to be nearer to the rest of FM at this point in time.

Cheers everyone,
Blue Horizon

vivfox 09-22-2015 10:43 AM

My guess is she just made more money than she could dream of on this latest tour and knows she can purchase an even better home for herself. This estate is gorgeous.

well, as one ages one often becomes less and less inclined to live in cold climates. That warm California sunshine can be quite nice on 70+ year old bones. And, more seriously, Chris has talked about the isolation of her house in Kent and it leading to not-so-positive things (whether that's being somewhat depressed, drinking too much, or something else, we don't really know). I can't imagine that's much of an issue for her in LA, even if the band semi-retires (recording but no longer touring) or fully retires.

Macfan4life 09-24-2015 06:50 AM

I saw the Mac in Miami a few months ago and Chris said she wished she lived here. In a youtube video from the LA concert Chris says she wished she still lived there.
Living on that huge isolated property could really make depression worse. If it makes her happy to move closer to friends and activities then I am so happy for her. She will look back at her Kent years as a dark time. So happy we got In the Meantime out of her during that time.
As for the lack of Mac memorabilia on the walls..........2 things: Chris does not take me as needing a "love me" wall. And the little that is there is not about her but about the group she belonged/belongs to. That is typical of her personality. Second, when a house is listed for sale most of that kind of stuff is taken down. It could attract groupies and distract from the home's beautiful qualities. But I am guessing that music room is the way it always was, minimalistic about her work with a super group. Didn't she say recently in her depression in the house she would immediately turn off the radio if a Mac song came on. She put herself down to not take credit for being part of the band.
I once suffered with depression. So I can sort of relate to that. Its difficult to describe but you can be an extremely successful person but you put yourself down mentally.
I love reading between the lines of her song "Bad Journey" Its a glimpse into her journey into that dark place in time.

I remember Lindsey saying he went to a restaurant and the owner had all of these pictures of himself when he was younger and Lindsey said he thought the guy must not have a happy life if he had to surround himself with pictures of his past. He indicated that in his own home, they just have pictures of the kids all over the place.

I would not expect to have lots of band stuff in Christine's place or Lindsey's. I'm not sure about John.

louielouie2000 09-24-2015 09:41 PM

I'm not surprised her home isn't smattered with Mac memorabilia. None of the other Macsters homes seem to be either (sans Mick's income property in Hawaii). Chris especially seems least likely to worship herself of any of them. Plus, like Richard Dashut said, they always had a thing against wearing/displaying their own merchandise.

The whole sale does bring up some interesting questions, though. What's her motive here? Is she just in need of a new project- and is she going to use all this fresh tour money to purchase a new estate to restore? Is she simply wanting to downsize since she's getting older? Or does she now equate her estate with her dark agoraphobic period, and simply want to move on? Is she hoping to use the funds from the sale to buy a property in the States? If so, is she going to buy in LA again, or is she going to purchase a place in Hawaii near the boys? We probably won't ever know, but I do have to say it's good to see Chris moving forward. :)

I've won a bunch of awards for film editing and I don't put them all around my house. It kind of looks douchey. Ha.

FuzzyPlum 09-25-2015 02:26 PM

I wouldnt necessarily expect her to have lots of memorabilia around the house- but you do expect people to have a few pictures of those closest to them. I'm surprised there arent a smattering of framed photographs here and there.

A few more pictures of her house here...
Looks like she has a picture of her and Stevie in the dining room of the guest house. Thats really nice.

Oh yes, you're right.

The two pictures above the bed look to be band pictures too.
Pretty certain the one on the left is Stevie and Lindsey. Looks like Stevie (left) is either kissing him or applying make-up- I'm sure I've seen this picture before.
Can't quite make out the photo on the right. It's odd as it looks like there are four figures in the picture. Not sure whether its a picture of FM. If it is then it might be the HAHTF band. Or it might even be a Chicken Shack picture.

I don't think I've seen this photo before, but I think I have seen a picture of Stevie wearing that tam or covering on her head before. Michele

I guess she's moving to her penthouse in London overlooking the River Thames.
She probably doesn't need that big house anymore.

For the first time, I get to be THAT Ledgie.

This is already a thread in the Christine McVie forum :)

As I was looking at the pictures, I remembered seeing in one of the dining rooms, a picture of Christine and Stevie or it was Christine and Stevie and Lindsey, it looked like it was all three.

[So, she wants a bigger place in London]

GALLERY: Fleetwood Mac star Christine McVie puts £3.5m Kent mansion up for sale

12:10 25 September 2015 Chris Murphy

http://www.kentnews.co.uk/news/galle...sale_1_4247686

Star is selling long-time home in Wickhambreaux after band’s successful reunion
Fleetwood Mac star Christine McVie is selling her magnificent Kent mansion for £3.5 million.

The 72-year-old singer and keyboard player has lived in the Grade II-listed property in Wickhambreaux, near Canterbury, since 1990.

But she’s decided to sell the six-bedroom home after the band’s successful reunion saw her able to spend less and less time at her Kent retreat.

Fleetwood Mac, originally formed in 1967, have sold more than 100 million records worldwide and recorded hits throughout the decades.

Ms McVie joined in 1970.

She intends to use the funds generated to allow her to buy a home in London.

Set in 19 acres, it has undergone major restoration since she took over and is now on the market through agents Strutt and Parker.

The house includes four reception rooms for entertaining varying numbers of celeb guests, a three-bedroom outhouse, two cottages and those sprawling gardens.

And don’t forget the converted barn, paddocks, thatched stable,

Ms McVie had long resisted calls to reunite with the super group after retiring from live performances in 1998, but gave in to temptation for their recent world tour which has played to sell-out arenas and generated millions for the group.

Among her songwriting credits for the band are the likes of Don’t Stop and Little Lies - a huge hit from the Rumours album.

While at her home in Kent, it is thought she penned a lot of her solo material there once the band disintegrated in the 1980s.

The fractured relationships within the band - which features Mick Fleetwood, Lindsay Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, and John McVie, her former husband - are the stuff of rock legend.

Simon Backhouse, of Strutt and Parker, said: “Christine McVie bought this house in 1990 and when she did it was in a bit of a state.

“She has spent an enormous amount of money on it since then, putting a new roof on it and restoring it to its former glory.

“She has family in Kent and it’s a very beautiful and private house. It’s quiet and you can’t see it from anywhere so that ticked a lot of boxes for her.

“The house itself is stunning and the village it’s in is a quintessential chocolate box village.

“She’s looking to upsize in London and downsize in the country.”

Named The Quaives, the house is new to the market but already there has been much interest in it.

“Whether you are a music fan or not, this is an incredible opportunity to own something very special indeed,” added the agent.

Previously of the Kent house, she has said: “I have whiled away many peaceful days song writing in this tranquil home. Much fun was had by all on the croquet lawn.”

She is currently on a world tour with the band doing the Australia and New Zealand leg.
