Closing another chapter.......What will you miss most?

So I have always loved all the chapters of Fleetwood Mac but my favorite being the fab 5.My all time second favorite band has always been Crowded House so you can only imagine what I’m going through..........

What I will miss from this chapter...

1. Recordings with Buckingham. He made these albums amazing...I will include SYW and BM...even though all 5 weren’t present.

2. Live ... when promoting new music and adding new tracks and ones never performed and making the live shows fresh.

3.The chance that a new album would be released by these 5.

4.That this would be the “last” chapter of this band and end this amazing “ “Dance” on a high note.

jbrownsjr 08-08-2018 10:47 PM

I will miss Buckingham/McVie. They really make each other shine in such a profound circular organic process. Seriously, I really believe they were meant to write together. And their stage behavior with each other is a gem, too. They truly respected each other.

I will miss the pull of Buckingham to make FM better. Christine has always been solid. Her BTM material was great. Even her vocal on "In The Back of My Mind" puts the sunshine in that song.

But Nicks' material on BTM and No Questions asked. Ehhhhhh... Let's hope Mike can make her sound good. I'm the one person that really enjoys, When I See You Again. I think Lindsey knew what to do with her, even when she was floundering.

I actually like most of her SYW contributions, but again, she had LB.

I will miss the tension of the 5 as a whole that made the band interesting. Even when they were playing the same bull****.

I will miss the magic.

aleuzzi 08-08-2018 11:58 PM

I will NOT miss the maddening frustration of these five almost recording a follow up to TITN on several occasions. In this sense, I’m glad the fab five are over. At least there’s no more reason to pull our hair out asking why these five people cannot get it together for one incredible last album.

However, I will miss that possibility. Even when all reason told me they would never make new music in the form of a full new album. I still held out hope that creativity would prevail. LB/CM came as close to fulfilling that dream as possible. And yes, it was a great alternative.

I will miss hoping they would stretch out a little and work harder to break their repetitive, predictable setlists. I will miss the ways in which LB and SN balanced one another—his intelligence and creative drive against her shallow narcissism; her warmth and easy allure to his occasionally cold and paranoid affect.

I will miss the hope of a second BuckVie album.

So...as you see...what I’m really missing is the potential of the Rumours five to do something substantial together. But even if LB stayed, there’s little likelihood new music and a more adventurous approach to touring would have resulted.

Ethics and common human decency.

Once people start behaving thusly, that's it for me.

You made me realize that Lindsey's final three major albums with the band have titles related to dancing:

- Tango In The Night - 1987
- The Dance - 1997
- Say You Will (the whole chorus of the title song is about getting someone to dance) - 2003

Maybe it's a sign that they will all reunite one day on Dancing with the Stars...

That one definitely made me laugh out loud, thank you....laughter is good therapy for being a fan of this band

Shame that Lindsey HATES dancing

iamnotafraid 08-09-2018 03:44 AM

What will I miss most?

Nothing at all.

This fake drama about a band that should have
called it quits after Say You Will is getting old
to me fast. I can hardly participate anymore.

As far as the 5 go, I'm only interested in what
Lindsey cares to put out musically.

Free, free at last...

Storms123 08-09-2018 04:55 AM

I will miss the chemistry they all have---you can't fake that. I will miss their live shows, truly incredible. I will miss the chemistry they have with the fans. I will miss the generations of people that know, appreciate, and show up to their shows to hear the music these 5 created, sung by the 5 that created it. I will miss what could have been. There's still a lot of "life" in most of them.
I will miss Fleetwood Mac

HomerMcvie 08-09-2018 08:31 AM

That Lindsey OWNS the show. Casual fans think it's all Old Goat Breath, but they leave the live show completely wowed by Lindsey. His energy and musical style(the one that DEFINES the FM sound) is unparalleled, and will be sorely missed.

BigAl84 08-09-2018 08:32 AM

I will miss being a fan of one of the VERY FEW bands from the 70's or even the 80's that still had all of their original members in one equation or another. I came aboard in '97 and there was no comparison when hearing the Billy Burnette era material. Even as a young kid at the time, I could tell the difference. Nothing agains Vito and Burnette, but trying to play Buckingham's guitar parts just didn't work, it's just not the same sound or tone that made '75 era Fleetwood Mac what it was.

There was something special about their ability to come together and still play despite all the odds that were against them. All of the Stevie and Lindsey shipping aside, I still think there was always a sense of the music and respect for one another prevailing above all else.

Perhaps it's due to becoming a fan during the "reunion" themed time (1997) but the magic of that reunion stayed lit well, well after that tour had come and gone. I'm going all out Anthony Bourdain here...but folks who became fans due to The Dance, I think their fandom came with an additional framework that I can't quite come to describe. Perhaps it's because many of us heard the 97 material and worked our way backwards through the material and history. There was a 4 year stretch between the end of the dance tour and that first gig together minus Christine in 2001. A lot of folks thought they were done, that was it. It made the years working up to the release of Say You Will super exciting because it was a gift nobody thought would happen again.

I guess that's what I'll miss - somehow the band that tried to keep it together since 1997 and the thought that the dark days were long behind them.

Good point.

I will miss being able to come to this board and have a good friendly conversation about the music and the members. I miss the days when insults were not the norm and people could express their favor for one band member over the other without having to resort to personal attacks.

Other than that, I am good with Fleetwood Mac in their current flavor. I look forward to having some new blood in the band and some new harmonies.

Perhaps if you weren't so defensive and hyper sensitive, concerning all i$$ue$ with $tevie, you wouldn't have any issues yourself? Just a thought...

You've stated MANY times that you were leaving, and never coming back, but you're still here.

Have a nice day.:woohoo:

I went in to my four FM concerts (on the Say You Will tour) as a Lindsey fan mainly (but also a fan of the band as a whole, although more Christine than Stevie), but I remember being very impressed with what I did see and hear of Stevie--ie I was expecting subpar vocals but that wasn't what she delivered. What she did with the vocals on the last, quiet part of Silver Springs at at least one of the concerts has particularly stuck with me even 14 years on.

So I think there might also be some sort of expectation bias at play--many people might go to a concert barely even knowing who Lindsey is let alone expecting him to have as terrific a stage aura as the likes of Stevie or Mick.

BigAl84 08-10-2018 03:02 PM

I'll miss all those mini adventures to see them in concert and sitting in anticipation to see 5 individuals who really, against all odds are still together making music. I'll miss thinking through all of the years they have helped me through all the ups and downs in life and looking forward to what may be around the corner for them.

Of all the shows I've been to, I think opening night in Columbus 2013 stands out. Perhaps the most relaxed I've seen Lindsey and Stevie to date and I like to remember their dynamic the way they were that night. Stevie left her sunglasses on for The Chain & Dreams. Sad Angel and Without You were played for the first time live. I was less than ten feet from them most of the show. I was so excited for what I thought may be coming in the near future. I'll miss that excitement and love I had for that group of people, in that configuration.

I wrote this on my phone a few years back while waiting for them to come out in Cleveland, February 2015. The last time I actually saw all 5.

"Im really lucky to have the chance to see this band from every angle over the past 15 years and thats a lot of great memories and dreams to have come true. Every time i see them i'm reminded of that 14 year old kid in his room who just wanted to play guitar like Lindsey Buckingham. For some Kids it was jimmy Page or hendrix...for me it was that travis fingerpicking style on a rick turner model 1 guitar. okay...yes rumours has become overplayed 70s Pop...but Tusk was some sort of tribal-punk-pop cocktail of an album that i didnt appreciate until my 20s. Mirage taught me the true meaning of less is more and the power of being understated. What it really means to hone your craft and master it. from that fuzz on the ledge...the solo in gypsy...or those signature lines on the chain...or those beautiful guitar arpeggioss on Sara..that never gets old. that 14 year year old kid remains."

jwd 08-10-2018 05:56 PM

I'll miss the collaborative efforts of Chris and Lindsey, backed by the awesome rhythm section of Mick and John. I'll miss a Tango II or a BuckVie II. And the three part harmonies of Chris, Lindsey, and Stevie.

I will not miss anything, really, to me it was over years ago when it became obvious there would be no new recording and only endless oldies tours. I am more optimistic now than I have been since SYW. Sick of pretending it is still 1982 and happy we may get something new from this new lineup.

BigAl84 08-12-2018 08:57 PM

LOL ...I'm sick of pretending it's 1987, thinking this new lineup is going to mean aaaannnyyything in 5 years.

It won't, no matter how much some wanted it will. The fact that casual fans think Lindsey's still in the band proves it.

Lindsey was the only one that wanted to record new material, so creativity at this point is practically out of the question. Do you think Neil and Mike will share what they have with the rest of the band? They came to fill a gap, and they know they're not part of the band. If they were, promotional pictures will be something more significant than two penguins gossiping. :D

Christine did want to keep creative, too.

Agree with the penguins. That's so deceptive.

Yeah, I guess somebody in the band had to get booted from the band for the dynamics to change. But you can't blame Lindsey for the scenario you're complaining about. That's what a lot of us are so ****ing mad about!

God you are a piece of work. I am hyper sensitive yeah right. Why dont you just ignore my posts like I do most of yours anymore. I think we would both be a lot happier. I am tired of your constant bullying here. Go away!!

I put you on my Ignore list long ago. The only time I see your posts are when someone responds to them. And the only time I respond to that is when you are being nasty (which I realize is about 99% of the time though I guess). Take a long walk on a short pier. I am not interested in your opinions either. You are not a nice person and I do not wish to associate with you.

jbrownsjr 08-16-2018 08:14 AM

I've actually seen a new promo pic pop up with the ACTUAL band. It's not bad. The photo features mainly Christine and Neil. Again, they are all looking in different directions, which is kind of strange and a bit funny.

I love Stevie's Pasquale di Fabrizio boots!

If the boots are back, Fleetwood Mac has a fighting chance.

Well then consider yourself lucky because that is NOT the case with anyone who has anything positive to say or think about Stevie Nicks. Anyone who reads these posts cannot deny it and, if they do, they are not being honest. Too bad I am not going anywhere.

Ok this is the most amusing thing I've read on these forums in a decade.

Well then keep him all for yourself. There are LOTS of us who feel this way. Unfortunately he and others like him have chased a lot of us away because they are sick of fighting. He obviously thrives on it. Quite an admirable character trait. Oh and by the way, I think I have been here longer. I know I joined in the mid 90s...not that it matters.

I don't like $tevie, and they can't take it. I make fun of her, and they can't take it. The two or three of them think they're going to gang up, and run me out of town. I applaud their efforts, while:lol::lol::lol:

When I first joined at the end of 2012, I think comments were a bit tamer, than now.
But I find no-one and no comment so offensive I would want to leave.

90% of the stuff posted is really interesting and worth reading.
Some is funny, comical even. Some is downright belly laugh stuff.

And about 2% is sometimes a bit...oooo ouch !!! a bit near the edge.
I can live with that.
It’s life, you know, roll with it, life’s too short..
