Love In Store vs BL
Can't Go Back vs SW
That's Alright vs Everywhere
Book of Love vs Caroline
Gypsy vs TITN
Only Over You vs Mystified
Empire State vs Little Lies
Straight Back vs Family Man - can't pick really don't care for either
Hold Me vs WTTRS
Oh Diane vs IIM - can't pick really don't care for either
EOTW vs WISYA
WYWH vs Y&I ii - can't pick really don't care for either

my 2 least favorite FM albums with LB... so it is mostly which song i dislike less :D

so it's 4 for Mirage and 5 for Tango, although if i counted the number of songs i liked on Tango vs the number i liked on Mirage, plus the songs that i really dislike on each, Mirage would have a slightest edge as a bit more likable.

elle 03-05-2013 09:53 AM

pasting from the other thread my track by track opinion for each -

1) Isn't It Midnight - boring
2) Tango In The Night - eh, i know many love it but not my thing
3) Big Love - eh, doesn't hold the candle to the solo version
4) When I See You Again - yuck
5) Seven Wonders - boring generic pop fluff
6) Welcome To The Room... Sara - yuck
7) Caroline - blah
8) Family Man - yuck
9) You And I Part II - blah
10) Little Lies - cute pop although not my thing
11) Everywhere - same as little lies
12) Mystified - don't care for it
.
1. "Love in Store" - eh
2. "Can't Go Back" - catchy
3. "That's Alright" - heh
4. "Book of Love" - heh
5. "Gypsy" Nicks - can't stand it
6. "Only Over You" - eh
Side two
1. "Empire State" - yuck
2. "Straight Back" - blah
3. "Hold Me" - pop perfection
4. "Oh Diane" - blah
5. "Eyes of the World" - pop perfection
6. "Wish You Were Here" - blah

Can't Go Back, Hold Me and Eyes of the World are really the only songs i love from either album.

i can recognize Little Lies and Everywhere and perhaps that album version of Big Love as well crafted pop songs, just not my thing.

i can stand Tango (the song) if i have to.

i really don't care for others, and don't like to listen to them.

Thanks Artemis, I think we pretty much agreed on all, esp Mystified (I really didn't want to vote on that one, either) But went with LB's production on the song, I suppose.

These albums are pretty easy with obvious stand outs and a cpl duds.

Wow, words can not express my confussion. A fan of the Band doesn't like 85-90% of the 80's work by the Mac, yet is still a fan, as in fanatic?

It makes me wonder how many "fans" here or otherwise are really just fans of particular solo artists. I know LB has them, as well as Stevie. I admire the fact that you are outspoken about it, elle, as you should be.

Still, I am puzzeled by the great disdain of the 80's albums. I know many do not like the 80's sound and the over-production of TITN. I guess one would have had to grow up in that era to appreciate the beauty of it all. I love the80's sound, however, my sister loathes it and we are only 2 years apart. I sorta get it, I suppose.

yes, i am not a fan of the band, i am LB fan only - as you clarified in the next paragraph. :)

i will go see the Mac this year and pay their over-inflated ridiculous prices b/c i can't resist not seeing LB when he's out there plus i can have some fun with many friends i met through LB solo gigs.

i actually liked a lot of music of the 80s, just not this kind of music.

Then why the heck do you bother posting in the BAND sections of the forum when you're not a fan of 80% of it's music or 2/3 of it's songwriters!?!?

Here's mine:

Love In Store vs Big Love
Can't Go Back vs Seven Wonders
That's Alright vs Everywhere
Book of Love vs Caroline
Gypsy vs Tango In The Night
Only Over You vs Mystified - this was tough, because I don't like either, but I can bare "Only Over You" more.
Empire State vs Little Lies
Straight Back vs Family Man
Hold Me vs Welcome To The Room, Sara
Oh Diane vs Isn't It Midnight - I really hate "Oh Diane". "Isn't It Midnight" is Christine's finest moment.

Because there are discussions of LB music in this forum too? There are plenty of SN fans that post in here too, if you want everyone who is primarily an LB or SN fan (or any other band member) to stop posting here it will be considerably quieter. And while some of us may be fans of only a certain band member, right now FM is what is happening so this is where the conversation is.

I love "Tango In The Night" and consider "Mirage" as the weakest album since "Kiln House", so this was pretty easy.
Though the title track is one of my favourite songs on "Tango In The Night", "Gypsy" is my favourite FM-song overall (along with "Sara").

I would love to hear more songs from "Tango In The Night" live than just "Big Love" - especially "Isn't It Midnight".

Oh, I wasn't meaning for it to sound harsh. It was more wondering "why bother" when the majority of people on here are NEVER going to agree with many of Elle's opinions, seems like a waste of effort.

Oh, I'm not saying you shouldn't post, just as I said wondering why put the effort it? I'm a Stevie solo fan more so than a Mac fan (but I still love the Mac and not just for Stevie's songs either!) and really not a Lindsey solo fan, so I don't post in the Lindsey section of the board because I know I'd never get on with the Lindsey solo fans as I cannot bare the majority of his solo stuff. I'm also not really a fan of the pre-Buckingham Nicks era Mac, aside from a few songs, so I don't post in their either.

I would have thought, not being a Fleetwood Mac fan, that a Fleetwood Mac message board wouldn't be of much interest to you.

So why don't you just stick to the SN board since that's what you're saying LB fans should do?

Why put in the effort? For a little variety? To show another point/side? Everyone doesn't always have to agree and great discussions come from differing opinions. If everyone felt the same what would be the point of a discussion board?

whether i like it or not Lindsey is going to spend the next year touring with FM. there will be no LB solo in 2013, for the most part. i still love majority of his songs, whether or not they are with FM or solo.

this forum is the appropriate place to discuss any FM-related tour info, not LB or SN forums, wouldn't you agree?

i'm assuming you are counting every album FM ever released in those 80%? however, this is RUMOURS lineup forum, so if you think LB contributed only 20% of the music of that lineup, you should probably re-check your math.

Hey, although I see where you are coming from TheWILDheart, and you are entitled to your opinion, I thank you for expressing it. This post was not intended to start another "war of the roses" (actually that be a cool Stevie title) ;)

The main jest of it was to see where the fans opinions lie as oppossed to comparing Dreams against Rhiannon against Silver Girl. Or GYOW against Tusk against WATL. Not something of a landslide while pitting The Chain up against (ehh) Mystified or Landslide vs WISYA

True appreciation will come out when comparing solid studio albums against one another, rather than individual artist songs.

No, because as I said I am a Fleetwood Mac fan. But Elle categorically stated that she was NOT a fan of Fleetwood Mac, hence I was wondering why she would want to post in a forum dedicated to the music of the band which, in her own words, she is not a fan of.

Open discussion amongst fans, yes. But you stated yourself you are not a fan of the band, so there is no discussion of varying opinions amongst fans because you're not a fan.

And I highly doubt that anymore than a few Rumours-era fans will agree with your Gypsy dislike ;)

I'm not saying that anybody shouldn't post anywhere, I only asked the question. To me, posting in a Fleetwood Mac Rumours-era message board when you're only a fan of 1/3 of it's music seemed a bit like getting a pet cat when you're allergic to fur.

She said she's posting here because she's a fan of LB's FM music and this is the appropriate forum to discuss that music. Makes sense to me. I think if we were to run the numbers, Lindsey's songs would account for more than 1/3 of the Rumours era music.

you know, i wonder whether we actually have a difference in opinion of what a FM fan is?

do you like PG era? THAT is really FM to me, frankly. although i only know hits from that era (and i'm not talking about US hits), i think among that whole FM bunch, there's no doubt this guy is (or at least used to be) an extremely talented genius. in the little time he was active he wrote some of the most timeless songs ever. (imo)

re the 80s, i lived in Europe and what i loved and listened to at the time was so-called "alternative" music (in the US most of that kind of music didn't seem to penetrate before 90s much). i guess it was outgrowth of late 70s new wave and punk? idk. so yeah 80s FM was definitely and still is not my thing.

about Gypsy - LB has stated numerous times that is a song on which he's the most proud of his work. still doesn't mean i need to like it just b/c everybody (whatever that means lol) else including LB thinks it's great, no?

now re being an FM *fan* vs a fan of an individual artist who is a part of FM, maybe we should have a thread in this forum where each one of us lists how many songs from our non-favorite Rumours era songwriter we actually LOVE, and then see where we actually stand?

so which non-SN FM songs do you love, TheWILDheart?

I couldn't agree more, and of course without Peter Green, the Fleetwood Mac that went on to be one of the biggest selling bands in the world would not exist. However, I am (generally speaking) not a blues fan. I also prefer female singers (not sure why!), but that doesn't mean I don't absolutely adore a lot of Lindsey's FM stuff.

I may have miss-understood or miss-read what you posted, but it came across that you weren't a fan of Fleetwood Mac at all. At least, not the Rumours line up. And it struck me as being a little odd that someone who is not a fan of the music of this line up would be posting in a board dedicated too it. I wouldn't and don't post in the Lindsey board, because I a. don't know enough about his solo music to really contribute and b. don't like any of it anyway, so it doesn't interest me.

Love all these songs. Like I said, I'm a Fleetwood Mac fan. I consider Stevie solo and Fleetwood Mac 2 different entities and always have.

I like most of the BN era stuff and some of the earlier stuff, although I've not heard all the albums. I've picked a selection below:

thanks for playing and putting up your selection - very nice! :)
i'll have to do mine some time later today but i can tell you that the FM songs i actually love constitute much shorter list than yours. there are many more i like though... and many i dislike, including LB's. but i still think that a lot of his FM material is stellar, so i guess that would go into FM fandom... since GYOW, SHN, Tusk or WATL is definitely not lb solo material.

you know looking at all LB's FM songs you love, i bet you'd actually love a lot of his solo material if it weren't for a. you listed above.

i actually know what is considered Rumours era material and love a lot of it, so that would be a bit different than commenting on solo career if you are not familiar with most solo material. ;) that said, we welcome anybody who wants to contribute to LB board, cotrary to popular opinions i don't think you have to be a fan in order to discuss and contribute.

Hey, if I need to know any Lindsey solo info, I'll jump over there .

I did buy "Under The Skin" when it came out and enjoyed it, though I haven't listened to it in forever! I've listened to both "Go Insane" and "Out Of The Cradle" about twice in 20 years and neither appealed much. I actually went to the toilet during "Go Insane" on the Unleashed tour lol. I do love a lot of his FM material, as you can see from the above list and I will forever worship the man for his amazing efforts to create such fantastic albums - Rumours and Tusk wouldn't have happened without him. And I, of course, have Lindsey to thank for Stevie having a career (and vice versa - as much as they bitch about eachother, neither would've had a career without the other)

I'm a TOTAL Chiffon Head, and the first to admit it, though there are Stevie songs I cannot BARE as I'm sure there are Lindsey songs for you ("When I See You Again"....wtf was that!?)
