Fleetwood Mac and Eagles planning New York and L.A. festivals for 2017

Oh. So I guess that pretty much confirms the tour is off until next year then? 'The coast shows are the only dates Fleetwood Mac has scheduled for 2017, says a source' I hope this doesn't include reference to Buckingham-McVie. |
It's going to take more than this to make me believe it.

i can see fleetwood mac getting together to play the oldies for for a pay check but if the Eagles do it it's would be disrespectful ( for a lack of a kinder word )
Don Henley says the Eagles are done. It was always Glenn Frey’s band. https://www.washingtonpost.com/enter...c35_story.html |

I actually hope the big tour is delayed one year. That would give time to Buckhingham/MvVie to hit the road. I always believed that Buckhingham/McVie would not tour because there was not time to do so. I don't seen them scrambling doing a short tour to run and join a huge tour. It sucks the tour already missed the 40th anniversary of the release of Rumours but I would LOVE a year of Buckhingham/McVie before the monster farewell tour. This miracle of an album happened. Lets not release it and then not properly promote it. I want to soak up every minute. And yes I am hoping for a tour. The article mentions 2 stadium festival dates. I don't see either band touring around such a festival. |

even if this does happen, anyone wanting to go is gonna be paying $1,000's

Um, excuse me, it's not the Eagles without Glenn Frey! What the **** are they thinking?

How could they tour with Mick and John and not call themselves Fleetwood Mac? And if they did tour without Mick and John, who would they hire to be their rhythm section? They could have the best rhythm section in the world but if they did, imagine the controversy. It would be mini Mac. Stevie would not be happy. |

I agree its hard to go on without Glenn Frey. Can you imagine if Don Felder came back for the tour though? That is the only way I see them going on. Then again, Fleetwood Mac went on without Lindsey and NO ONE thought that was possible. The Mac even rolled on without Christine.
If the big final Mac tour is pushed til next year I think its a real possibility of a Buckhingham/McVie tour. And if it happens, I am prepared to spend $1000 for a front row seat :) |

Curious to see if this rumor is true... |
Can you imagine if Don Felder came back for the tour though?
This would be incredible, and with Bernie Leadon already touring with them, I think it would be the only thing that would make it anywhere close to the Eagles without Glenn Frey. |
Yeah, Leadon/Felder/Henley/Walsh/Schmit could pass as the Eagles, IMO. It's too bad Randy Meissner is apparently in bad shape these days and can't join in them. Not sure what a band would do with two bass players, though.

Interesting choices. Wonder if Joe Walsh will be there.
All Stevie's men.. |
some are saying Bob Seger also as a replacement if they are going to do it they may as well add insult to injury and just Use sheryl crow she can do double duty and sub for Stevie

It's money greed but it seems like it's also bragging rights kind of greed. A way to show that you are still relevant and still on the A list bringing in big bucks and filling venues and have not faded away into the "whatever happened to....?" file. That's a very big thing for Stevie for sure. I guess after recent years I shouldn't be, but I'm still surprised Lindsey goes in for this sort of stuff. He really seems to have accepted the "play the game" when you have to approach..... helps if you've got a bunch of kids and a wife's business and equestrian habits to support. Building big horse farms in the country ain't cheap..... |

They talked about the Eagles/Fleetwood Mac shows today on Sirius-XM Classic rewind today. While Felder coming back to the Eagles would be pipe dream come true, it would probably never happen. Unlike when Lindsey or Christine left.....they just left. Felder was bought out of the Eagles since most of their most famous songs were created by Felder. The settlement is secret but rumors swirled that Felder got close to a 100 million pay day. Although not all at once of course. Every time the Eagles tour they pay him a percentage if they play key songs, etc. Walsh and Felder don't have issues but Henley and Felder have major issues and it is unlikely this reunion would ever happen. To quote a former Eagles tour "When hell freezes over."
There would be to much legal wrangling for it to happen. Felder gets paid if he does not even tour but they do his songs. So its really a strange situation. |
Nevermind.... grace is everything.
|
Agree -- I've always felt like the muscle is gone from the Eagles live shows without Don Felder.

They had 18 Top 40 hits, and Felder co-wrote one of 'em. Victim of Love, while a great track, wasn't released as a single, even. The vast majority of their hits were Henley/Frey compositions. I don't think that's in dispute. |

He was never really a songwriter. That wasn't his place in the band. So that's kind of like slamming Mick or John, because they're not songwriters. He was brought in before Joe Walsh, when they were trying to lose their "country" sound, and he did just that. I'm a huge fan of his playing, and always thought his solos were far more interesting than Joe's "generic" solos. |

The Eagles performing again is up to Don Henley with Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit aboard. How do you perform Glenn Frey's songs with him deceased?
Eagles' standards featuring Frey on vocals: "Take It Easy" "Peaceful Easy Feeling" "Tequila Sunrise" "Already Gone" "Lyin Eyes" "Take It to the Limit" "New Kid in Town" "Heartache Tonight" Walsh has performed "Take It to the Limit" at his 2016 concerts. Henley has sung harmony on "Lyin Eyes" and "New Kid in Town." |

Take it to the limit...
To be fair, this isn't exactly a Frey song...he took over singing it when Randy Meisner (I believe) stopped singing it for whatever reason he had at the time. He just didn't want to do it every night, so Glenn took over. The History of the Eagles is very interesting if anyone hasn't watched it. It even includes a very condensed look at how Felder got screwed over! Which is a real shame.

Quote:
But yes, I've read that Meisner didn't like doing it, that he was afraid of the super high notes at the end, that he wouldn't be able to hit them. |
There's no way they'd ever bring back Felder. Everyone is saying how disrespectful it is to tour without Glenn, well it'd be 10x worse to his memory to play with Felder. They have Steuart Smith. They don't need Felder. Use Jackson Browne or Glenn's son or J.D. Souther. They also can include Bernie like they did for the last tour. Heck, let Henley sing Glenn's songs. Works for me.
|
I don't see why Felder would need to be included. What about Bernie Leadon?

I have a love hate thing re Felder. I agree that he was not treated very well by Fry and Henley over the years but where I take issue with him is this. He sued them and got a settlement and yet he won't gracefully take the high road.
First I heard stories that he has rountinely signed dvd's for fans from the Farewell One tour of which he was not even a part of. Secondly he stirs the pot overnot being invited to the Grammy's to honour Glenn. Glenn and him were not on speaking terms and had not been for some time so why the hell would you think Glenn, his family or the Eagles members would want you there on stage??? Thirdly he creates a petition to the Kennedy Center Honors to get him, Bernie, and Randy included. While I agree that Bernie and Randy should have been included as they were original members what he did was low. You were fired. You sued. You got a nice chunk of money. Move on. He is an amazing guitarist but he acts like a spoiled child. |

i can see the logic behind most of what you said but the signing dvds seems rather petty......clearly he'll sign whatever a fan might ask him to sign. If it's something his band did that he was no longer part of, so what. I mean, fans put all sorts of stuff in front of performers to sign. |

He was the last person to join the band, to be made a PARTNER in the band. An OWNER. Joe and Timothy were never offered that(the machine was getting too big, by the time they came along). So Bernie and Randy quit, which meant that Frey, Felder, and Henley were ~now~ the three sole owners of the band. 1/3 each. Now, there's no denying that Frey and Henley were the two principles in the band, since they were both the singers and primary songwriters. BUT, let's call a spade a spade. Felder owned his 1/3 of the band, and rightly deserved his 1/3 of the profits. Because that was legally the deal. And greed took over, and Frey and Henley wanted more. I agree that they're the more popular ones, and maybe Felder should have given in. Probably in hindsight, he wishes that he had given in. But he certainly didn't have to, and I'm not sure if I'd want to give into their greed, and give up what was legally mine... Also, back in the day, touring revenue had always been split 20% for each of the 5 members. Later, Henley and Frey wanted Felder, Walsh and Schmidt knocked down to 10% of the profits. 10% of a Gazillion dollars is still a sh*t ton of money, but he didn't want to back down, even demanding to see the books. Timothy called him, and told him he should sign the "10%" deal, but he wasn't having it. That's why they fired him. They really did screw him, IMO. |
