I'm so glad you said this. I was losing my mind trying to find the "hidden" CD in the picture. It was getting a bit Where's Waldo.

Cool stuff, SadAngel86!

And yes, hope the job interview goes/has gone well, MSB. :) Nothing makes me more nervous than those.

I got my copies of "Gift of Screws" and SYW Limited Edition (not together, they came a day apart). The limited edition is used and that's the reason for the rubber band.

The shoes are from Macy's and they're Keds. I thought they were kinda cool.

On the positive side of things, I now own a new PC and I am starting to re-add my music editing programs onto the HD - so I will soon be trading music yet again...

and today is my 1st day off in 16 days!!!

I'm glad that you are ok.

Thanks. Just got back from the interview. It was a one-on-one interview with this woman about 25 minutes. She will call by next Friday, if I got the job.

Here's the catch - 6 months of training about 80-90 miles away before the store actually opens in my town in January. :distress:

I've had a slight sore throat all week but I have no cold.

vivfox 05-23-2013 09:07 PM

Dex and Skip & anyone else who cares...

I just grabbed any ole CD from the pile and just got done playing this one. It's titled NASHVILLE STAR (The Finalists). It's a bunch of cover tunes by various artists. The first song is by Miranda Lambert. Then we have Jamey Garner, Amy Chappell, Buddy Jewel, Natasha Valentine, Travis Howard, Anne Louise Blythe, John Arther Martinez, Kristin Kissling, Prentiss Varnon, Brandi Gibson and Brandon Silveira.

Miranda Lambert and Buddy Jewel are the only names I was already familiar with. The CD was pretty good but not enjoyable enough for a second listen.

Probably the crappy air we have had lately.

I love Miranda Lambert.Buddy is good.I never got a chance to see Nashville star on TV since I dont watch much TV anymore. Some of those other newcomers are ok.

Nashville Star is probably on TVFreeload to watch.

The ABC show Nashville was good which I got the whole season on my computer along with the new TNT Dallas series.

Why can't I find a SOTM video for the Hollywood Bowl? So darn frustrating! I am also interested to find any happy birthday songs to Stevie from last night's show in Vegas.

Graceland - A new USA network drama

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...ps067eb32f.jpg

Tonight I was privileged to be able to attend a free advance screening of a new show to be airing on the USA Network called Graceland. I actually don’t really know how I got picked to be a part of this screening since it was sponsored by Entertainment Weekly and I haven’t been a subscriber of their magazine for a long time now. I think it’s because I’m a fan of another USA show: Suits and that’s how I got the email.

Anyway…..I left pretty early so I could have enough time to get downtown and get something to eat before the showing since I had never been to that theater before.

The AMC River East 21 in the River North neighborhood of Chicago is really nice by the way. I wish I lived closer to it so I could use it more.

I arrived about seven minutes after 6:00pm CST and the show was supposed to start at 6:30, so I had plenty of time. Before that, I was actually waiting for a bus that took too long to get there so I just decided to walk. It wasn’t too bad. It’s kind of confusing though walking on State St. north because you sometimes have to walk underneath certain streets and it can get kind of creepy.

When you walk into the theater, you have to go up a set of escalators to get to the ticket line. I didn’t need to do that since I had my email printout. What I thought was weird was that there was a casino immediately to my left at the top of those escalators. When I turned to my right, I saw a table emblazoned with Graceland all over it and I walked right over to check in. This is where I got my lanyard which I felt pretty special about. The lady crossed my name off a list and told me it was “Theater 9 to the right,” although what I thought I heard was “Theaters 2 through 9 on the 2nd floor.” Don’t ask.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...ps1ca48fcd.jpg

Got to the second floor, past the concessions and there was theater 9 on my right with a Graceland sign thingy out front. Walked in and saw on my left: a table laid out with free popcorn, soda and water! There was another lady eyeballing the food and I told her “Wow, this is nice.” She agreed.

Show started not much later but before that they had scrolling ads/images of different cast members and various social networks you could connect to for the show.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...pse190d1a2.jpg

The pilot was good - it didn’t grab me like some TV shows have (if you know about me and Chicago Code, you know what I’m talking about) but it’s definitely something I will check out again when it premieres.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...ps60e91461.jpg

After the show, there was a live Q & A with the cast which was streamed live from New York City. During the Q & A, you could tweet the hashtag #GracelandTV and if you’re lucky, have your tweet read out to the cast. Most of them though were from the audience in New York. The cast were really funny in answering questions - especially one about why the house all of the agents live in is called Graceland - it’s because one of the former agents that lived there was an Elvis buff and the name stuck. They also revealed that the house was a real house, not a set built for the show, and that it was actually someone’s 17mil weekend/vacation home. Crazy.

After it was over and as we were all walking out, there was a table with sunglasses. Picked up a pair and I heard a girl behind me exclaim: “Oh wow these are good sunglasses!” They have the hashtag #GracelandTV | USA across the side.

All in all, it was a great experience and I hope to do it again!

Sierra, that is awesome! Thanks for sharing that! :) Generally those sort of glossy American TV dramas don't really do much for me, so I'll probably give this show a miss, but what a fantastic and unique opportunity for you. I'm hugely jealous.

Thanks! It was quite an experience as I said. Normally, I don't get to go to advance screenings of anything, but since this was being simultaneously done in 15 cities across the US, I think it was a genius marketing gimmick by both USA Network and Entertainment Weekly to both get people to come out and advertise the show before it premieres on June 6th.

Of course it was overshadowed by the Blackhawks winning Game 7, but anyway.

My fiance just finished telling our weekend guest how we've been busy cleaning the house in anticipation of her arrival. Ack!

Who raised this man? That is not how you do it! You're not supposed to admit you've spent hours cleaning! You're supposed to pretend you were far too busy to clean and live in an immaculate house at all times, while still apologizing for the "mess".

"Oh! Please excuse the mess! We got caught up!" is the line you're supposed to use while gesturing towards sparklingly clean entrance hall.

Damn him.
