I've been reading the media mentions about the return of this skit and judging from viewer comments people like it a lot more than I realized. I mean, the "mute Lindsey Buckingham" is singled out in descriptions as one of the highlights of not only that skit, but the whole SNL episode.

I like the skit. I usually wind up
laughing at them. This last episode
though was probably the weakest of
them all.

Kate Upton

Obviously LB wasn't notified that Kate Upton was going to be in the skit. Otherwise the real LB might have been there in lieu of Bill Hader. "You ain't nothin' but a hound dog!"

I thought it was unusually hilarious, especially the opening skit about "Linsanity" - so provocative, but so dead-on point. And Kristen Wiig as Taylor Swift = comedy gold.

It must be an American humour, because I really really dont get it. Does somebody want to explain how they find ANY of that show funny??
I'd appreciate the heads up. Is it funny??

About half-way through Buckingham gets a shout out. Worth a read if only for that.

(Also check my memory but wasn't Buckingham already on the show? I could swear he came out one time along side fake LB. Am I going crazy again?)

Turns Out SNL Gave Bill Hader’s Lindsey Buckingham His Web-Only Video After All
VIDEO
by Jon Bershad | 5:27 pm, February 21st, 2012

This weekend, when Saturday Night Live brought out another edition of “What Up with That?,” those of you who weren’t distracted by the absolute mind-bloweyness of seeing Kate Upton and Bill O’Reilly together on the Studio 8H stage, got to catch the another great example of the best running gag* in a recurring sketch that’s nothing but running gags when Bill Hader’s Lindsey Buckingham once again got screwed out of a chance to talk. Kenan Thompson’s host claimed that Hader’s Fleetwood Mac star would get a chance to display his special Presidents Day talent on a video on the fictional show’s website, only to reveal that that’s not actually a thing they do. Well, it turns out that he was wrong as SNL has now released the video online.

Whew! That’s the long way of saying that here’s a video of Bill Hader pretending to be Lindsey Buckingham pretending to remember the birthday of every American president. Some of you will find this funny and some of you will think it’s a stupid waste of time. Then again, that’s basically how people feel about “What Up with That?” in general so it only makes sense.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: THE FIVE BEST COMEBACKS
by Ethan Alter February 21, 2012 12:40 PM

Maya Rudolph made a (mostly) triumphant return to Saturday Night Live over the long weekend, resulting in one of the show's most consistently hilarious episodes in a good long while. Part of that was due to Rudolph's crack comic skills, but you've also got to credit all the other much-loved characters and skits that made a successful reappearance. Here were the night's top five comebacks:

5. What Up With That
We haven't seen much of Kenan Thompson's DeAndre Cole in a while, which is just as well because the sketch was in danger of wearing out its welcome. Nine months after its last appearance, What Up With That returned in fine form, with cameos by a clearly befuddled Bill O'Reilly, a clearly out of her head Kate Upton and a clearly awesome Lindsey Buckingham (played, as always, by Bill Hader). If that's the kind of extended wait time the writers need to make this skit sing, we're okay with not seeing it again until September.

Hejira,
I didn't see much of SNL last Saturday night.
I watched just this one skit on NBC's website.
Kristen Wiig is one of the best actors they've
had in a long time. Hader is very funny too.

Ever watch Portlandia? Fred Armisen from SNL
stars on there. Pretty funny sometimes. Unique
to say the least.

From an interview with Colin Jost, Boston Globe, July 25, 2013

http://www.bostonglobe.com/arts/thea...HEJ/story.html

Q. I guess the most important question is, who’s going to play Lindsey Buckingham on “What’s Up With That?”

A. Oh my God, I don’t know. I think we might have to just get the real Lindsey Buckingham.
