While that is one thing, do you think she is acting in a proper manner by shoving her politics down peoples' throats when they came to hear her sing? I do not like to be preached to at a concert - so, I say shut up with the political crap and sing, esp. when for $700, that three minutes could be and should another song, a personal anecdote, etc.

i 100% agre w/ this!!!~ tho i usually agree w/ alot of what babs is saying, if i paid serious cash for a ticket i wouldn't be happy about her political antics during the show~ that would not be why i came, i came to hear her sing~

I agree with all you've said in this thread. the funny thing is, Barbra could care less if she sang another note. she doesn't view the whole concert spectacle the same way fans and other performers do so maybe that skews her way of putting a concert together. for her, I believe, it's just a grand opportunity to push her politics, which is sad, really...she doesn't even get it...that she's, again, imo, the best singer ever.

Look what Babs gets away with. At least her audience is open minded and are not going to burn her cd's and boycott her. Not like the dumb red neck country audiences of the Dixie Chicks.

Yea - the boots are gonna be interesting. Don't get me wrong, she can still sing with the best of them - she actually is really peerless, save for Liza and MAYBE Celine, Barbara Cook (20 years ago and her mentor) and Linda Eder -- she does it lower

If you can get passed the can of worms she calls a face, I guess her voice is nice (sorry Jazz).

true. I love Linda Eder...but good god sometimes I can't stand to hear that "back of the throat" singing she slips into now and then. A New Life by Eder is one of the best songs ever...and also Even Now.

I feel bad for saying that. That was uncalled for. :sorry: But you took it like a man. I guess us Stevie fans are so used to the fat jokes and cocaine butt sniffing jokes that we're tough :wavey:

strandinthewind 10-11-2006 09:46 AM

LOL - Eder can belt it though. My fav. is Man of La Mancha --- AND - I used to be able to NAIL that last high note during the bridge

Now - onward to glory I go :wavey:

It is a fundraiser though, according to all of the press for this tour. I guess a simple "yes" from Babs would have sufficed.
