RIGHT NOW (6:59 eastern time) on golTV the Spanish soccer channel, they're playing "Don't Stop" because of the championship or whatever.....my mom was born in Portugal and i speak Portuguese, so we act like total Europeans and we watch soccer...yeah. :blob1::blob1::blob1::blob1:

Last week I was out looking for a dress for graduation and I was in the car with my mom and Second Hand News came on the local classic rock station and that made me so happy. Then to top off that happiness I find out its two for Tuesday and right after they played I Don't Want To Know. I never though I would hear that one on the radio. :)

I would have been glad if they played any FM song but this station always plays Dreams, Don't Stop, and Go Your Own Way. I love the songs, but I'm glad they played something different and unexpected off Rumours :]

IDWTK is always awesome!

MissLadyLoki 06-25-2010 06:57 PM

I've heard my fair share of Big Mac on the radio (it's typically famous stuff on these rock stations, but 99.1 PLR in Connecticut plays The Chain now and then, but they've always had a tendency to play cool, lesser-known songs from many bands), but when me and my friend sam went to eat dinner at a local steakhouse after we had seen Avatar together at around 9 PM, I heard Say You Love Me play.

My local theater plays music while you wait in the lobby and buy snacks and things, when I went with some buddies from work to see A-Team a couple weeks back they went from playing classic 2Pac to Say You Will. It was a bit odd but made me smile.

chelluversu 06-26-2010 08:27 PM

I was watching Casino because I've never seen it. They played Go Your Own Way...I believe it was when Sam (DeNiro) found out Sharon Stone (can't remember her characters name) ran off with his daughter, and Sam was in his car with Nicky...I was watching it with my sister, and I sang it until I annoyed her lol

thatgirlwasme 06-27-2010 01:20 PM

I saw Tom Petty in Milwaukee Friday night and they played "Oh Well" in their set. I've heard recordings of them playing it before, but it was awesome to here it live!

This week, I heard 'Rhiannon', 'Sara', and 'Sentimental Lady' (Welch solo)!!

louielouie2000 07-11-2010 07:53 PM

I hear Fleetwood Mac in random places all the time... but this is my current fav:

I was floating nude in an inner tube on Lake Travis today, and heard "Gypsy" blasting from a nearby boat!

I am so in love with this Lake and all the photos of it you have provided. I can't believe it is in Texas and not some Caribbean Island resort. Also, picturing you naked on an innertube floats my boat too.:)

I still have yet to go to Lake Travis. What is wrong with me?

I grew up on Lake Travis... whenever you're back in town and wanna go, drop me a line! Like Viv said, it's a little piece of the Caribbean in the middle of Texas!

I gotta come out and say it: that lake looks seriously awesome. Here, we have the ocean, but it's not even blue and more of a nasty shade of green, and I think we have a lake somewhere (goes to show how much I go outside and experience nature )

can anyone help me out?

Yep...that was most likely the single version (45 mix, or whatever you wanna call it). They released it as a bonus track on the remastered 1975 Fleetwood Mac album.

PenguinHead 07-12-2010 04:57 PM

I recently took a temporary part-time job at a supermarket. The music source that plays in the store is riddled with Fleetwood Mac songs.

I've heard 'Dreams' once, but these Christine's songs are in heavy rotation:

Everywhere
Little Lies
Hold Me
Over My Head
Save Me

I see the appeal of her songs as elevator music -- universally pleasing and not too obtrusive. The term elevator music can seem derogatory. But Christine's songs are the best elevator music ever! Not just for elevators, supermarkets, doctor's offices, waiting rooms etc...but everywhere!

It's sooo funny you say that. My friend Scott won't listen to Christine songs because he says it reminds him of being at the dentist and getting drilled on! Apparently his dentist likes to blast Tango and sing along to it while he's giving root canals.

That's cool...my Mom was born and raised in Portugal as well...Lisboa...or was it Torres Vedras? Pretty sure it was Lisboa. I love going there, it's beautiful. Love the Algarve of course, but also Lisboa is exciting, and Sintra sure is unique!

I can see it right now...*while filling in a cavity* Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies!

Hawkeye 07-12-2010 07:08 PM

It's no longer unexpected but Bob's solo version of Sentimental Lady has been added into the nightly rotation of music where I work. So whenever I work at night I hear it along with either Stop Dragging My Heart Around or Tusk. Peacekeeper used to be in the morning rotation up until about 2 years ago. Paper Doll used to be in at night.

holidayroad 07-13-2010 08:27 PM

This may not really qualify for 'unexpected FM', but today I found the Triad book for 10 cents at a library sale!!. I read it once about 18 years ago and I am glad to own it!!

Macfanforever 07-14-2010 09:01 PM

Funny thing, I listen to CT radio myself (as you probably know, Long Island is about 20 miles away, across the Sound) and I can easily pick stations up. The rock stations there and 103.9 WRCN (a hard-to-pick-up Long Island rock station that I figured out the problem was rooted in te fact that it's boradcasted for further out east than me) like to play the Mac a lot, and they always seem to be played when i'm thinking about how a guy wronged me in some way.

One day recently, as I was driving around, listening to 99.1 WPLR (that's a very good New Haven rock station) thinking about how at this time last year, my now-former BF would have come over and zonked out watching TV on my couch, The Chain came on. Strange coincidence, huh?

Artemis 07-16-2010 07:16 PM

I was in the bank today, at an appointment, to make a new bank account so I had the correct one for my student accommodation form, when I heard Everywhere being played in like, the main office area. I was so distracted I totally zoned out what the person was saying to me xD

The bank is the last place I ever expected to hear Fleetwood Mac, I must admit.

Amlyn 07-16-2010 08:39 PM

Not exactly unexpected but...I was having dinner with a friend earlier and she told me she was listening to XM in the car and thought of me because "Fleetwood Whack" came on. She didn't really mean to say that, just came out wrong. But it was hysterical to hear that. Anyway, I asked her what song and she said something with lies in it...So I"m like, "oh, Little Lies".

When i left the restaurant and was driving home..guess what song came on...

Just wanted to share...made me laugh which was definitely needed after having a long week.

Bonus--I asked her today if she wants to go see Stevie with me next month in AC and she is on board!

amberlemegan 07-16-2010 10:20 PM

I was out to dinner with my family and Don't Stop came on in the restaurant :)

Well it really wasn't unexpected because I picked it out on the Jukebox thing they had
I picked all 3 Fleetwood Mac songs they had hoping all 3 would play but they didn't. The other 2 were Second Hand News and Blue Letter. I really wanted Blue Letter to play though because I've never heard it before outside of listening to it on my ipod :(

DoubtfulMiracle 07-17-2010 01:25 AM

I flicked over to one of our local radio stations the other day and heard Think About It. I was more than slightly surprised. I did a double-take to make sure I hadn't put the CD or iPod on instead, but nope, regular ol' radio station.

Turns out though they weren't being completely random, but Bella Donna was the album of the day on Cover to Cover, a neat little show they do where they profile one particular album (the making of it etc. ). But at least for a fleeting moment I thought the world had become totally awesome. :D

chazlightyear 07-18-2010 01:49 PM

Bloody hell 'Oh Diane' has just been playing in the background on Coronation street!

ButterCookie 07-18-2010 01:49 PM

Some Pita van called Fleet-a-Pita just pulled up on The Simpsons playing Don't Stop

Ok you are across the little pond.I've notice WHCN plays alot of Stevie/FM from time to time, but I get sick of the new tunes mixed in. I have to try 103.9 WRCN ,but 104.1 probably interfere WRCN.WPLR is a awesome station to tune in too.

104.1 must be the one mixing in with WRCN when I get closer to Stony Brook (yeah, I go to school there and i listen to the radio as I drive up, but I noticed many times how I'd be rocking out to something, and there'd be static and Taylor Swift trying to butt in).

Another good LI rock station is 102.3 WBAB. They play some newer stuff, but plenty of older tunes too. Now, if you want a quick and easy way to rip your hair out, listen to 106.1. It's WBLI, our top 40 station that'll overplay a sng so much that you'll want to personally strangle the artist responsible for recording that song lol.

Sleepless-Child 07-20-2010 06:11 PM

GUYYYS, Say you love me on a french radio right now :woohoo: ! That's unexpected, here !

chazlightyear 07-21-2010 06:08 PM

They played 'The Chain' twice on bbc1 tonight and it was nothing to do with formula 1!

Sleepless-Child 07-22-2010 04:48 PM

Just back home from a night out in our tiny town, where there's often music played, you know, on loudspeakers everywhere, and i heard a familiar solo. It was the one from Hold Me. HOLD ME ! Not Don't Stop, or Rhiannon, or whatever, but HOLD ME ! I almost cried . If this Fleetwood Mac wave continues, i won't call it "unexpected" anymore.

A fellow Stonybrooker !! I went there from '68 - '72, things must be quite different now. Back in the day one of the major concert venues on the east coast was the Fillmore East, everyone who was anyone played there. At that time the Brook (as it was called) had a very well deserved reputation as a drug haven, and guess what ? Almost every artist who played at the Fillmore wound up playing Stony Brook during the week. I think the entire student activity fund was used to hire these acts, you could catch The Doors or The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane,The Who playing IN THE GYM or outside on the lawn !! Tickets were maybe $ 3.00 , it was incredible !

Having graduated in '72 I kinda lost track of goings on at Stony Brook does anyone know if FM or Stevie ever played there ?

These days, only some indie acts play Universtiy Cafe (which is all blocked off since they're building this stupid student center that's gonna open when i graduate) and either USG and SAB sponsored Brookfest (this year, it was such a bomb that the Press calledit Lamefest) and everyone goes to off campus clubs to party (those dorms, even suites, are too small to party in).

Sadly, neither FM nor Stevie would ever play there (too busy going to bigger venues, such as the Coliseum and the Garden), but dammit, I don't care if it's Lindsey solo, I wanna see the Mac play in SBU!

ButterCookie 07-26-2010 08:07 AM

I just heard Gypsy through the wall from next door. Unexpected because they only ever play drum and bass at 1.30am.

MissLadyLoki 07-31-2010 05:41 PM

I was at a Mets game last night (it was free, and the whole story is at Chit Chat) and, as i was thinking about how the game has basically turned into D'backs vs David Wright, they played the original album version of Big Love.

kokoro 09-02-2010 02:42 PM

I was at my local Wegmans a few weeks ago and heard Dreams on the radio, which wasn't especially strange. But today at the same store I heard Say You Will playing! I've never heard that on the radio before. As an added bonus, I heard You Make Loving Fun on the bus yesterday.
