The John the Revelator site certainly whizzed me back 40 odd years, as Tom Huissen (who recorded the Bluesbreaker tapes) was staying with me and my brother John at our parents' house when most of the tapes were recorded. I was at some of the gigs and John at all of them. It's slightly miffing, though, that almost all of the Mayall/Green photographs from that period on the site were taken by John, and he's not credited, as far as I can see. I must contact Tom and try to get that rectified -- and also find out if CDs of the performances are available.

Hello Derek. I know from the Pre-Rumours site (and the Revelator site)that your brother finally got his credits, but did you find out about whether the cd's are or will be available?
There is no mention of it on the Revelator site.

Thanks a million - Ms Moose

Hi, Ms Moose. There's actually an issue about the tapes that John is trying to resolve with Tom, and I'd rather not say anything until this is sorted out.

The CDs will be available ? :-)

I got an answer from Tom Huissen (vocalist/bass player John the Revelator):

The CD's are not for sale yet.
I am trying to work out a deal to get them released.
As soon as they are for sale, I will let you know.

Hope for the best :-)

Thank you Derek Slade and Krzysztof for your time and effort. It is very exciting - and rare - that something "new" turns up, and everyone - or at least myself - get very impatient about getting hold of it. Let's hope that it all works out.

I wish that a lot more people of the 68 generation would tidy up in the attic!

...and I have just noticed that I have been up for a promotion: I am not a 'junior ledgie' anymore :D

Yes this is very exciting news. There's so little live material available from the Mayall/Green era and now 5 cd's of live songs! I keep my fingers crossed that any legal matters on this one should really be solved. I think it has potential to be a big seller.

I agree about the exciting news part. Unfortunately there seems to be
legal problems concerning most of Greeny's music,
witness the Katmandu sessions that were supposed to be released, for example.
Hope any legal problems can be worked out concerning this music.

Yes there always seems to be all kinds of complications, and they might be different each time. I wonder what the legal problem in this case could be? Would one important question be 'who owns this music'? In this case someone (Tom H) owns the tapes, but who owns 'what is on the tapes'? Is it John Mayall?

When you love music you basically just want to hear it no matter who 'owns' it. This is (sadly) an attitude who makes no one rich. As you can see I am not into law at all. Maybe one of you have more knowledge of these matters and can come up with something a bit more advanced than this.

Mayall/Green Bluesbreakers 5 cd

Anyone has any new information on this? Or has the project gone up in legal limbo smoke?

Peter and his "out-of-phase" sound

I always thought that Peter dismanteled his pick-ups and accidentally put them back together out of phase during his early Fleetwood Mac period.
Now listening to Double Trouble I realize that this must have happened in his Mayall years.

Early '67

From what I've read Peter played without a neck pickup for a period while in Mayall. Then he decided to get it repaired, and the rest is history. So I think it was probably fixed during the winter/early spring of '67 (a good guess).
