I was talking about adjusting the actual melody lines, not the entire key. And also talking about over the duration of their touring careers, not just recent years. No doubt the three days off between shows helps, but yes--the melody lines may be different from year to year, but whatever she sings she always sings it with gusto. I think of her as treating each song to be performed as a palette that she paints freely with, whereas LB and CM have tended to be a lot more left brained in their performances--maybe something to do with the hours they spend in the studio fine-tuning precise melody lines and instrumentation. |
