Well, a soft-ball, unlike a hard ball, can hardly fit in the palm of most's hand. The hard ball, however, is much easier to play with and when hit correctly, will shoot much further, higher, and faster than a soft ball. Of course, catching it is harder with the hard ball and can, on occasion, hurt.
