Okay, I'm obviously not much of a Christina Aguilera fan, but my friend is really into the pop world because he's into bars and clubs and that's where they play that kind of music. SO, he was telling me about Christina's new album (I'm not sure if he bought it or not), and he said that Christina gives a thanks to Stevie Nicks for influencing her to write a song called Make Over on her new album. Does anyone know any more about this? How did Stevie help Christina? My friend doesn't know, he said he just saw it in the jacket sleeve. I'm curious...that's pretty strange. And the thing is, I LISTENED to this song Make Over and it's very rock and roll-ish...nothing like the pop/synth stuff that Christina usually does.

that's so funny... has anyone checked out thelyrics to that song? im sure what christina was inspired by was one of stevie's "those girls need to put some clothes on and write some good songs" comments....
and she came back with this.....
I don't need nobody trying to make me over (make me over)
I just wanna live simple and free
I just wanna get away
Save it, all your bullshit, for another day
I'm the only one who can rescue me from me
along with other similar lines.... dude that's funny... i can't believe she had the balls to respond to stevie like that... and then write in her liner notes who inspired it....

well, an "inspiration" can mean anything....if you don't like someone it could inspire you to write a song about it or whatever. wow, i'd really like to know exactly what Cristina is thanking Stevie for. You think it's for the quote from Stevie? I, personally, thought Stevie was very graceful in what and how she said it. She wasn't slandering her or anything. I don't think it's "bullshit" if that's what she's referring to. Personally, i agree with Stevie. I don't even want to get started on what i think of Cristina....

My friend burned me this album...and this particular song was one of my LEAST favorites.....her vocals SCREECH and she is blatantly just yelling into the microphone....I don'tlike the song at all....can anyone quote what she wrote to Stevie in the liner notes?

I think that chorus is taken totally out of context with the rest of the song. I really don't feel that chorus has anything to do with Stevie as it does the rest of the song (if you read the lyrics). I think the song has more to do with everyone else looking at her and treating her and using her in ways that she doesn't want. It sounds to me more like Stevie had one of her "don't let anyone take control of your music" discussions. I remember reading that Stevie was always so upset during the late 80's and 90's because she had like, no control over her music. Isn't that kind of what Doing the Best That I Can is about? And the thing is, with Stevie we are so accustomed to having songs be about way more than one thing, so the chorus doesn't always have a link to the verses. But I think very few artists actually DO that, and not to be dismissive, but I don't think Christina really has the writing ability to do something that intricate. Linda Perry (from Four Non-Blondes?) apparently co-wrote this song with Christina. So, I don't THINK this song has any negative feeling toward Stevie. Of course, I could be wrong, but it just doesn't seem that way if you read the whole song's lyrics. JMVHO.

Well i don't think the lyrics would be that much of an issue, but thanking Stevie makes it all the more interesting,if it is some kind of retort...I haven't downloaded this song yet...but i think i will just for the hell of it...I really don't have a problem with Christina's music as far as just listening goes...i mean when i am clubbing and stuff...I don't really put any stock in her though..she is a skank muffin with a voice, that's all..but if she is taking a cheap shot, that is kinda f**ked..but then again..she probably knows Stevie is right and it irks her..

Stevie said what she said way after Christinas album being done did she not? That women in rock issue was not out too long ago.
Id like to think Christina just wanted to thank Stevie because Stevie never cared what others thought either.
Id HATe to think Christine was just going after Stevie, because that would make me feel bad for loving the songs "beautiful" and " impossible".
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Oye...a Christina and Stevie connection...Jackass made into a full length move...Eminem has a hit movie in the box office...I'm going to agree with Kevin Kline...who just recently said that it is the end of civilization as we know it (he was refering only to Jackass being made into a movie) I just added two other signs of the apocalypse...at least in my own little world :)
who knows? maybe Christina is really a huge Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks fan?! Could be....we really didn't know Sheryl Crow was until a little bit into her popularity...i think that would be a riot....move over Sheryl, there's new flesh in town! Would that mean that Christina would try to produce Stevie's next solo album? Can you imagine? Instead of all of us complaining that Sheryl's always following Stevie around or vice versa, we'd be saying that about Christina! "Damn! Christina Aguilera's touring with Stevie Nicks again!" What's kinda cool is that i saw a picture of Christina that completely reminded me of Stevie during the 1978 shows when she was wearing that feather headdress thing.
"Christina! Bring me the axe!" (Mommie Dearest) ;)
