I'm writing a paper on classic rock's influence on modern day rock, and I need to know who some modern day rockers consider to be their influences. I've searched online and haven't been able to find anything. If you have any info or know of a good website, let me know.

Thanks so much.

Well, I'm sure you will include the obvious ~ Stevie's influence on Sheryl Crow. But if you watch VH1's 100 Greatest Artists and 100 Greatest Women in Rock, I know a lot influences were discussed. Maybe there is something on VH1.com.

Well, John Mayer was majorly influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughn. For some reason, I can't think of any others at the moment, but that's one to consider...

I found this on Michelle BRanch:

"Her influences include Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen, Cat Stevens, The Beatles, and Joni Mitchell."

Well, Melissa Ethridge is a HUGE Springsteen fan...like he's a major influence of hers.

You can even go back farther than Stevie's influence on people, and we all know who some of Stevie's influences have been...Janis for one...so there's that...

And of course...and I don't know where to find actual documented evidence on this, I've just heard/read it from many a source...and that's the influence of The Beatles and The Stones on a ton of bands...AND...further than that...the influence of like Buddy Holly and Little Richard and such on the Beatles...um...yeah..that's all I can think of right now...

I wanted to add that I recently read an article in Esquire or Cosmo Girl magazine, I'm not sure which, when they talked to Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty. He talked about how much Fleetwood Mac and the Rumours album had influenced him. You might want to check that out. :D
