From Burnish.net (Thanks, Tracy):

"And then, Stevie phoned me up and said would Lindsey pro...would you try and encourage Lindsey to produce a track? And Lindsey had already told Stevie that...that he had a vision of...of him producing her next album. And...uh, so all of this stuff was...was coming from the inside. There were no people with suitcases with money in them. And..you know, slick mohair suits. It was...it was all internalized. And that was the spirit of it. ~ Mick

That was from 'The Dance' discography. Wouldn't that be cool of he did indeed produce her next album, after the Mac thing?

I read that last night and was just blown away by it!
Although, I took the quote to be referring to the Dance album it self, as in Lindsey would be producing that, since I am pretty sure the quote was taken as everything was coming together.

That is what alot of people just don't get. Lindsey and Stevie were already talking to each other during this time, and it seems had been communicating since the whole "Twisted" project. That was the real reunion for them. I read an article that was published about the time the Dance came out, and it said that "Buckingham, having already reconnected with Nicks the previous year (1996) for a song from the Twisted soundtrack". I will try and find it, but I think that is one of the reasons Lindsey always skips over Stevie in his repeated accounts of how the band came together. I think she was already there. It really sounds like her singing backup on "She Smiled Sweetly". Who knows, she could have been more instrumental in the whole thing than anyone knows.

Anyways, I just wanted to say I had never read that particular quote before, either.

I am also glad that Stevie isn't the only one who has "crystal visions"! It doesn't get talked about alot, but I think Lindsey is just as into the metaphysical as Stevie. She just talks about it more, and of course gets slammed for being "out there" and "spacey". Lindsey guards his words much more closely, that's all! lol!!

dont quote me..but im almost certain there is an article ..because i remember reading it...and it states that durring the twister project...lindsey and stevie wernt even singing in the same room. Lindsey fed exed his vocal strack to the studio and they mixed it from there. They wernt able to be in the same room, was the point of the article.Maybe im thinking of a different duet..but im almost certain it was twister

Somebody around here has a sig line that came from an article that quotes Lindsey as saying how much he enjoyed the experience of working with Stevie on Twisted, and that all of the harmony and everything was still there.

I never read that they weren't in the same room except maybe with some of the Tango stuff.

There's an interview with Stevie from 1996 I think in which she says that the "Twisted" project was over very quickly. They did the song in a few days, & he took off & they didn't call each other or otherwise communicate again until the reunion was being planned. The interviewer seemed a little surprised that this happened; I was surprised, too. I figured they had stayed in touch after hooking back up to record "Twisted," but apparently they didn't, Stevie said.

Thanks David, that explains some of it then.
What about this "vision" of his?
Any thoughts?

lol....That would be me, Sharon.:D :D :D

And I have never heard this either...very interesting, though. And, IMO....regardless of whether or not they actually "talked" after the "Twisted" project until the Dance, the ice was broken. Maybe they had already talked about doing another FM album, and he already knew how she felt about it. She made no secret of the fact that she didn't want to be in it if he wasn't.

And can you IMAGINE what an album it would be if he WERE to produce her next one??? Hell, why not just make BN II??? lol.

Thanks, girl! I thought it was one of the Angelas.

I don't see how they could have done a two aprt harmony like he seems to be talking about if he had Fed Exed his part in, and then blended it without her.

Still, they may have done what David described another time on another song.

You're welcome!:D I love that quote. Just wish there were more out there about "Twisted". I agree with ya...I don't see how they couldn't have been in the studio together, either. Then again, I know almost nothing about the entire recording process, so... lol! I just don't picture him talking about how "great" it was if they weren't in the studio together, though.:)

I think they recorded "Twisted" together. I'm not sure why some people think that they didn't meet up for that one. Unless there's this article somewhere that says so. But Stevie said they worked together & that she didn't hear from him after that. She was very resigned about it, too, chalking it up to the two of them never having been friends.

The reason this makes me so happy is, I always imagined that the band called in Stevie at the last minute. You know, when Lindsey tells of the reformation, he always mentions asking Mick, then John, then Chris, but not Stevie. I always thought they were in the control room:

Lindsey: Hey this feels pretty good, isn't that weird?

Chris: Pretty weird.

Mick: Does this mean we can make another Mac record? PLEASE!!! I don't have solo projects or a sail boat like John...I'm bored to death!!

John: Yeah, me too.

Chris: I'm in, but don't expect me to tour Europe...

Lindsey: Well, I can shelve my project for a while. Besides I have about 3 more years work to do on it.

Silence...

Mick: Lindsey, can we call Stevie?

The way Stevie tells it infers that someone other than Lindsey told her about it, because she says she called Lindsey to ask him if he was really going to do it, because she was about to get started with TISL, and she didn't want to stop the process unless he was really going to do it. His answer, according to her, was "Yeah, we're going....".
So she felt ok enough with things to call him up and ask him.

I also love the interview she gave to VH1 upon the release of TISL where she was telling how Lindsey called her up while he was driving down the road listening to her 17 demos from the "vault". She said he was so happy with them he was giddy and laughing and writing all at the same time! I think they are very close and really love each other in a way only they understand. It's very sweet.

Here's an excerpt from the actual interview:
"So he called me the next day and said, "I'm driving up the coast and I'm taking notes and I'm very happy with all these songs." So that's about the nicest thing he ever said to me, really. "I'm very happy with all this music" was like, "Oh my God, I can't believe he said that!"

I can't imagine Lindsey ever being "giddy" unless he's smokin' his favorite little cigarettes . . .and I hope he wasn't driving and writing . . .

If Lindsey is happy about Stevie's demos, I just can't WAIT to hear the final outcome of his handiwork.

Hey, I does sound like he's driving and writing at the same time, doesn't it? LOL!!

Well as far as giddy, I just meant happy, and I was looking for a better word than just happy.

Also, don't forget, he's an old hippie. Lindsey still likes his funny little ciggies!
