Stevie has had quite a few songs on various soundtracks over the years and some of these songs are really great. My top five are 1."Battle of the Dragon'a real epic."2.Blue Lamp' which sounds like nothing else she has ever done although I can see why she left it off of "Bella Donna' it really didn't fit in sound wise.3."Twisted';the only one that I know of that was specifically written for a movie by Stevie and great harmonies of course. 4."Violet and Blue' which for an up tempo number is far better than"Nothing ever Changes'So I can't understand why this was left off"The Wild Heart' in favor of that, unless it had to do with time constraints this was still the age of vinyl.5.Sleeping Angel 'vocally one of her strongest solo tracks.Any other ideas on this?

i have this strange obsession with If You Ever Did Believe... i love it to pieces... one of my absolute favorite songs to sing too! I have it on a mixed tape i recently made for the car of some of my favorite car driving/singing along-to songs... it's not totally mixed though, since all but one song is stevie... lol.. i have janis' me and bobby mcgee... too far from texas, it's late, enchanted, sweet girl, iyedb, gypsy, shoot now i can't remember anymore... and i'm rambling anyway so it's a good thing i'm ending this here...

and the most recent question would be robert, why did she leave 'touched by an angel' for this god forsaken soundtrack, when it could have been one of the best songs on TISL

Robert

"Touched by an Angel'is a good song and her motivation for writing it is great, but I can't say that it would have been one of the best songs on TISL.I wouldn't call it musically .one of her major works. IT is just kind of a mild low profile little ballad that would not seem to fit in well musically with the rest of the album.

My favorite is her version of Tom Petty's free fallin for the party of 5 soundtrack. That version made the song one of my favorite non-FM/stevie songs

My favorite would have to be "Sleeping Angel." That is just an amazing song. "Blue Lamp" is a close second. I think "Twisted" is beautiful, but over-produced. I like the demo version on the boxed set much better than the version that was actually released.
I've never really understood the appeal of "Battle of the Dragon"--it's too synthesized for me (what's with the Casio keyboard beat?).

WooHoo..my sister actually burned a "Stevie Soundtracks" cd...with all the soundtrack songs...my favorites are:

If you Ever Did Believe....I totally know what you mean Jessica...I don't listen to it for a while...then I do again...and I get all obsessed with it all over...I love singing along to it also...sometimes I'm Sheryl...doing the back-up thing...sometimes I'm Stevie LOL

Sleeping Angel
Stand By Me
Touched By an Angel
Twisted....uh
Definetly her version of Free Fallin'....

Sleeping Angel is definitely my fav. I get chills everytime I listen to it. Her vocals are sooo amazing!!! If You Ever Did Believe is 2nd on my list. When I first bought that soundtrack, that's all I listened to for like a month. I really like Crystal on the Practical magic soundtrack too. I know it's originally from a FM album, but I really like Stevie's vocals a lot more than Lindsey's on this song. Anyway those are my favs.

Okay....my top five are....

1. TWISTED!!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!!
2. Touched By An Angel
3. If You Ever Did Believe
4. Sleeping Angel
5. Battle of the Dragon

I just love ALL of these songs! Especially the first two, though. Oh, and I could listen to IYEDB on repeat forever, too...and totally off-subject...but I REALLY need to make a new mixed tape for my car!!! (Course, all my mixed tapes are just mixed Stevie/FM songs, too....so you're not alone, Jessica, lol!--except for on one of them, I put a Bob Segar song...can't remember which one, really, cause I always seem to fast forward it when it comes on, lol!)

I love the Practical Magic soundtrack, so those two are my faves.....I also love SLEEPING ANGEL......Touched By an Angel is beautiful also, but I think she said she left it off the album b/c it didn't fit the theme or soemthing.....didn't fall into place with the other songs....who knows....lol....

I adore Sleeping Angel. I just love it to pieces.

Twisted kicks all ass.

IYEDB is amazing. So is Crystal.

I like Touched by an Angel too, and Blue Lamp, and Battle of the Dragon, and Free Fallin'...

Heck, ya know what? I like 'em all!

Well, I like most of the soundtrack songs, although I'm not too big of a fan of Touched by an Angel. It's a little too lullaby-ish with the little keyboard part, plus I feel some of the lyrics are a little contrived (though their pain was apparent, and the floor was wet and slippery with the tracks of their tears)...don't yell at me please, it's just not one of my favorites. But I love Twisted and Sleeping Angel and If You Ever Did Believe.

I do have a question which might be kind of stupid, but I either really don't know or am just drawing a terrible blank. What soundtrack is Blue Lamp from?

My favourite soundtrack song is Twisted. It is just areally good song. I don't care for Battle of The Dragon or Somebody Stand By me. Also I know it wasn't made specifically for any movie but Magnet and Steel (With Walter Egan) is a good song. And to think it got put on two soundtracks. Boogie Nights and Duece Bigalo Male Gigalo

I think some of Stevie's best songs are her soundtract songs. That's why I LOVE Enchanted Disk 3. I would've never heard these AMAZING soundtract songs, as well as Long Distance Winner and Gold and Braid of course. But anyways my top 5 are

1. Blue Lamp, This song RULES
2. Battle of the Dragon, it's really TIED with Blue Lamp
3. Sleeping Angel, This is basicly tied with one and two:laugh:
4. IYEDB- this is constantly on repeat for me
5. Violet and Blue, i used to skip it but all of a sudden i love it and can't live without it

I've yet to hear Touched by an Angel though. So if i ever hear that song it could throw things off.

BLUE LAMP - hands down. I love the mystical feel of it. Stevie's more demented & dark songs are usually my favorites.

I also like Twisted (the soundtrack version, not the Enchanted version) and Violet & Blue.

I'v seen Twister and although it's probibly my favorite stevie MOVIE, the song is hidden and it's softly playing in the background. even though it isn't a SOUNDTRACT song I LOVE the way Landslide is used in Jack Frost. Also In If you Ever did beleive i like how Crystal is used. I ADORE the song Blue Lamp to death as you can see above but Heavey Metal sucked bigtime. And Adam tell me about american anthem how is Battle of the Dragon used. Is it clear.

"Battle Of The Dragon" is even less noticeable in 'American Anthem,' than "Twisted" is in 'Twister.'

The song begins *very* faintly (you really have to strain to hear it), and it's already fading out as Stevie sings the first line.
It was a complete waste.

I think 'Fast Times At Ridgemont High' and 'Practical Magic' made the best use of Stevie's songs.

I've seen...
Heavy Metal
Fast Times At Ridgemont High
Against All Odds
American Anthem
Boys On The Side
Twister
Practical Magic

I've also seen 'Jack Frost' (which, as mentioned, uses "Landslide), the Don Johnson/Susan Sarandon movie, 'Sweet Heart's Dance,' which uses "Silent Night," and 'Streets Of Fire,' which uses "Sorcerer" (sung on the soundtrack by Marilyn Martin, but in the movie by whomever supplied Diane Lane's singing voice).

I still need to see 'Sweet November.'

Hmmm, either no one has seen the movie "Slap Shot" or everyone's forgotten that BOTH "Say You Love Me" AND "Rhiannon" are played during the movie (both times on Paul Newman's van's radio)...

...although in both cases, if you sneeze, you'll miss hearing them. :)

Definitely Sleeping Angel, If You Ever Did Believe (I've got this corny facination with it too!!!), Violet & Blue (Take your Violet & Blue morning's WITH YOU.......AH-HUH HUH HUH HUUUUH!!!!!!), and Twisted.

But then, who hasn't listed these songs???!!!

In Twister, "Twisted" is playing on the truck radio as Bill is trying to get Jo to sign the divorce papers...crank up the speakers and listen intently!! I believe the whole song, or almost the whole song plays. I agree that the song was wasted, it SHOULD have played over the credits!!! DOH!!

I'm another one with an obsession with If You Ever Did Believe. I'ts absolutely amazing. I love that it has some of the lyrics from Forest Of The Black Roses, one of my favorite demos....

And the days go by...doing nothing about them....how much time...will I have to spend?

In both songs she sings those words with such passion.

I'm also borderline obsessed with Blue Lamp. Twisted and Touched By An Angel are also really special.
Cool thread.

Well I didn't want to start a whole new thread so I just wanted to ressurrect this one for a bit.

I personally love all of Stevie's soundtrack songs, and can't understand why some of them were not included on her albums (i.e. Blue Lamp, Violet & Blue, Battle...etc.). My top five are:

1. Battle of the Dragon: I just love this song. Very mystical and ethereal, also I love at the end how her vocal fades out and we get that little synthesizer part finishing the song. I have also heard the demo with Tom Petty, but I think the finished version is definitely better. This could have easily been the best song on Rock A Little if Stevie would have inlcuded it!

2. Blue Lamp: This is really tied with BOTD. And some say this was performed live? AHH I would KILL to see Stevie do this one. The music is just great and the ending is killer.."and the light that shines through the shining night is a lamp that I carry from my mother's home..." Stevie really gets going at the end of the song. Too bad it cuts out so early.

3. Violet and Blue: Another good uptempo song from Stevie. I think this would have fit nicely on Wild Heart...Stevie is really crazy for leaving it off! I love how Stevie sounds when she is wailing away on this one.

4. Sleeping Angel: This song is just really beautiful. And this part is just the best:
Well, someday when we're older
And my hair is silver gray
Unbraid with all of the love that you have
Like a soft silver chain

5. I'm going to have to say Twisted. This song is really great and I love the guitar part on it. The only thing is that I've only heard the demo and never heard the finished product..but oh well I love it still.

OH this is definitely my favorite soundtrack song. It's just gorgeous. Have you heard the demo to this song?...I think it's just as good as the studio version. The vocals are great, especially at the end. She sings "taaaaaaaake me....sleeping aaaaangeeel":) If that makes any sense at all. You should check it out if you haven't heard it.
