I have a question about the song Julia. I have a couple different versions of this beautiful song, but both versions I have are not the best sound quality. Does anyone know (or have) a Master Reel of this song? Or does one even exist? This song always brings such magic to me this time of year. The imagery is incedible!!
Cheers :wavey:

I have a whole folder of "Best Demos" as posted on BuckinghamNicks.net a few years ago. Honestly, I haven't even listened to them all, but they randomly come up on my iTunes all the time. This one is marked "Julia 6/4/81 Reel" and the quality isn't bad. Enjoy!
I'm guessing a full Master Reel does exist. I don't have it, but I'm sure someone does.

There were a lot more mp3's being posted on sites like BuckinghamNicks a couple years ago. It's sort of switched over to torrents now...especially for newer stuff. However, if there's something in particular you're looking for, someone on the board is bound to have it. So just let us know :wavey:
Oh...and here's a thread of goodies to get you started...if the links still work

Love this song. Should have been titled: Julie (Suffer for the Love).

When Lori wrote that Stevie was never quite satisfied with this song, I wonder what Stevie was hearing? This song is beautiful. It should have been on Bella Donna. Pitch Kind of Woman.

Totally, 110% agreed. "Kind of Woman" is in my definite top 3 tracks on an album that makes me feel like I'm killing my children to even narrow down a top 5....

Julia is an ok track for me. I just think the start of it is kinda slow though. I'd heard also that Jimmy Iovine never liked that song thats why it was axed for BD and WH sessions. I like Blue Lamp and Gold & Braid/Lady From The Mountian over Julia but its still nice too hear. Now I do love The Highwayman esp the different versions were you can actually her Don in the background of the song more & the higher Stevie vocal version. I also like Kind Of Woman too....thats just IMO anyway......

There has to be a completed, mastered copy somewhere, since there was artwork done and the album was sequenced with it included!!!

There are at least 19 outtakes of "Julia" from the Bella Donna studio Masters. Some vocals are better than others, and the band changes things up a little.
I would say there are two completely finished, mixed, overdubbed versions of "Julia" that were readied for the album, although all of them are wonderful.
Yes, I'm the one who interviewed Gordon Perry here in Dallas in 1996, and he told me that Iovine hated "Julia" and dropped it from Bella Donna. So, Stevie had Gordon re-record the song here in Dallas in 1982 for The Wild Heart (and "All The Beautiful Worlds" here, too). Iovine was the main producer and had final say and axed "Julia" from the final track listing for a second time. Stevie was crushed again, Gordon told me, as it's one of her favourite songs (and Gordon's, too!)
"Julia" is my favourite song of all time as well!

If 'Julia' is one of her favorite songs, why doesn't she release it? She could release a double disc of of unreleased songs, with finished songs and polished demos. Fans would go crazy, and I bet it would be a chart seller.
I remember, back in the old days (mid-1980s), getting a cassette of unreleased Stevie songs. It was very low-fidelity, but I was amazed by the songs, including 'The Three Birds of Rhiannon,' and 'Julia.' These are such epic songs!

Sorry Dani but I have to agree! I do like Kind of Woman but I LOVE the rest of the album so if there was one song that had to go and be replaced with something else, that would be it for me...
